  • We can consider that the study on early evaluation of compressive strength and durability of concrete is useful to raise safety of quality control of concrete. In this paper, was proposed to method early to predict strength and durability of concrete with parameter, such as Water/cement(W/C) ratio and steam curing conditions. Through analyzing the relationship between the compressive strength and the amount of chloride penetration into concrete specimens, a new formula early estimating durability of the concrete structure was suggested.

  • When concrete structures are built in marine environment, they may be deteriorated and have the poor durability and quality caused by steel corrosion or by chemical attack of magnesium or sulfate ions. Especially, Mg ions contained in seawater make concrete surface weaken by chemical reaction with $Ca(OH)_2$ In this study, a concrete structure built in 1947 was investigated to estimate the factors, especially chemical attack, which can cause concrete to deteriorate. Furthermore, the instrumental analysis methods such as XRD and ESEM were performed to find the reactants in concrete under marine environment.

  • Recently, underwater concrete constructions are increasing. Therefore it is considered important to control the quality of underwater concrete. In this paper, we have an intention of evaluating fundamental properties of underwater concrete using the anti-washout admixtures. Thus, it has been investigated that the setting slump flow of the concrete, pH value and suspended solids in solution, compressive strength on both of specimens made above and under water. Also the percentage of fine aggregate has been found to alter the compressive strength in underwater concrete.

  • The objective of this study is toe examine the quality of the tailing produced in Sang-Dong area and to estimate whether it can be useful for the fine aggregate of concrete or not. We obtained that concrete made with tailing replacement fine aggregate showed more water content then that of concrete not containing tailing for the same workability. And also, compressive strength of concrete containing tailing showed higher value then that of concrete not containing tailing.

  • As construction technology advances, most of civil engineering structures are becoming larger and taller. Therefore, high strength concrete is necessary for them. For high strength concrete, it needs a large amount of unit cement content and low water-cement ratio inevitably, so that a large amount of heat occurs in concrete. The thermal cracks make the durability and quality of concrete structures become worse, result from temperature rise and thermal stress due to heat of hydration. In this study, the proposal of using ground granulated blast furnace slag, fly ash and chemical admixtures was investigated to decrease the temperature rise of concrete.

  • Tests were conducted to get a mix proportioning of high strength concrete between σ28 and (C/W) using low quality materials easily purchased in situ. Superplasticizer was used as a chemical admixture to compensate low slump of base concrete keeping it up about 15±2㎝. General material properties such as modulus of elasticity, poisson's ratio, unit weight and stress-strain characteristic of high strength concrete were obtained. Test results show that mix proportioning of high strength concrete proposed in this paper have reasonable validity and these can be used as a design criteria in high strength concrete construction.
