폐톱밥 혼입 콘크리트의 온도 이력에 관한 실험적 연구 (Temperature Strength of Sawdust-Mixing Concrete)

  • Existing study far fire-resistant concrete has been done already. but it is not found out how the waste tyre mixing concrete will be acted against fire. This waste tyre concrete molds under the condition of $0^{\circ}C,\;200^{\circ}C,\;400^{\circ}C,\;600^{\circ}C$ were heated in gas oven. It was worried about that they might be fractured down at about $800^{\circ}C$ so that they can not be tested. compressive strength for the test molds are made with commercially used $180kg/cm^2,\;210kg/cm^2,\;240kg/cm^2,\;270kg/cm^2$ mixing saw dust with proportion such as 0.05%, 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.4%, 0.6%, 0.8%, 1.0%, 1.2%, 1.4%, 1.6%, 1.8%, 2.0% compressive strength at $200^{\circ}C$ was approximately 20% from the original, while approximately 30% deoreased at $400^{\circ}C$. their results are not quite different from the normal concrete condition even though they contains saw dust in it. The higher strength the concrete has, the less strength was decreased. There are almost no difference in strength under the condition of less than $400^{\circ}C$, but damage of concrete structure could be considerable large with more than $400^{\circ}C$.

Axial behavior of square CFST encased seawater sea-sand concrete filled PVC/GFRP tube columns

  • In order to directly apply seawater and sea sand in construction without desalination, a type of square concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) encased with prefabricated seawater sea-sand concrete filled Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)/Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) tube column was proposed. Twenty short columns were tested under uniaxial loads, and the test parameters included inner tube types, seawater sea-sand concrete replacement ratios, concrete strength, the wrapping area of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) strips and the thickness of GFRP tube. The effects of the parameters on failure modes, loading capacity, ductility and strain responses were discussed. All the tested specimens failed with serious buckling of the steel tubes and fracture of the inner tubes. The specimens had good residual bearing capacity corresponding to 64% to 88.9% of the peak capacity. The inner GFRP tubes and PVC tubes wrapped by CFRP strips provided stronger confinement to the core concrete, and were good choices for the proposed columns. Moreover, an analytical model for the composite column with different inner tube types was proposed.

콘크리트에 접해있는 강재의 국부부식과 피로손상 (Local Corrosion and Fatigue Damages of Steel Plates at the Boundary with Concrete)

  • 최근 일본에서 하로식 트러스교의 콘크리트 상판을 관통하는 사재가 콘크리트 상판의 상부 또는 하부에서 심한 부식손상 에 의해 파단 된 사례가 보고되었다. 이는 도장막의 노화에 따른 콘크리트와의 경계부에 있어 사재의 국부부식에 기인한 것으로 추정되고 있다. 그러므로 이와 같이 콘크리트와 강재의 경계부에 있어서의 국부 부식손상 대책수립 및 이를 기점으로 발생될 수 있는 피로손상에 대한 검토가 필요하다. 본 실험에서는 인장시험편에 부분적으로 콘크리트 블록을 설치한 콘크리트-강재의 모델시험체에 대한 부식환경촉진실험을 실시하여, 경계부의 부식감소량을 측정하였으며, 부식실험 후의 모델시험체를 이용한 피로실험을 실시하였다. 부식촉진실험의 조건으로는 실제대기환경에의 적용성이 검토된 S6사이클(JIS K5621)을 사용하였으며, 부식촉진실험기간은 150일, 300일, 450일, 600일로 각 5개의 모델시험체를 사용하였다. 부식촉진실험결과를 근거로 실험기간에 따른 최대 및 평균 부식깊이를 정량화하였으며, 부식실험 후의 부식 손상된 모델시험체의 피로실험결과를 근거로 실험기간의 증가에 따른 피로강도 감소량을 명확히 하였다.

  • 8 Wall specimens (1/2 scaled) used welded wire fabric (Ф=6mm) and ordinary deformed reinforcement(D6) of which their ultimate tensile strength were almost same were tested to investigate the inplane-flexural behavior. Test results show that : 1. The wall strength with welded wire fabric was 20% less than that with deformed bar. 2. The wall ductility ratio of welded wire fabric was 1/3 times than that of deformed bar, approximately. 3. It is recommened that lap splice of welded sire fabric should be avoided in critical fracture zone.

  • Epoxy resins are gradually becoming some of the most important and versatile polymers in modem civil engineering. Because epoxy resins have some unigue properties, such as toughness, versatility of viscosity and curing conditions, good handling characteristics, high adhesive strength, inertness, low shrinkage compared to most other thermo-setting resins and concrete, and resistance to chemicals, they have found many applications in construction castings, repair materials, road or bridge deck pavements, coatings, and as structural or non structural adhesives. In this applications, epoxy resins are widely used for polymer concretes, grouting materials, injection glues, and sealants. In this paper, characteristics of deformation of repair material after repaired have been investigated by viscosity of repair material and the width of crack. It is believed that flexural strength of epoxy resin with low viscosity is high because tensile strength is high and elongation at break is low, fracture energy is low.

A Numerical Model for the Freeze-Thaw Damages in Concrete Structures

  • This paper deals with the accumulated damage in concrete structures due to the cyclic freeze-thaw as an environmental load. The cyclic ice body nucleation and growth processes in porous systems are affected by the thermo-physical and mass transport properties, and gradients of temperature and chemical potentials. Furthermore, the diffusivity of deicing chemicals shows significantly higher value under cyclic freeze-thaw conditions. Consequently, the disintegration of concrete structures is aggravated at marine environments, higher altitudes, and northern areas. However, the properties of cyclic freeze-thaw with crack growth and diffusion of chloride ion effects are hard to be identified in tests, and there has been no analytic model for the combined degradations. The main objective is to determine the driving force and evaluate the reduced strength and stiffness by freeze-thaw. For the development of computational model of those coupled deterioration, micro-pore structure characterization, pore pressure based on the thermodynamic equilibrium, time and temperature dependent super-cooling with or without deicing salts, nonlinear-fracture constitutive relation for the evaluation of internal damage, and the effect of entrained air pores (EA) has been modeled numerically. As a result, the amount of ice volume with temperature dependent surface tensions, freezing pressure and resulting deformations, and cycle and temperature dependent pore volume has been calculated and compared with available test results. The developed computational program can be combined with DuCOM, which can calculate the early aged strength, heat of hydration, micro-pore volume, shrinkage, transportation of free water in concrete. Therefore, the developed model can be applied to evaluate those various practical degradation cases as well.

Effect of Anchorage Number on Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Beams Strengthened with Glass Fiber Plates

  • Reinforced concrete beams with insufficient shear reinforcement were strengthened using glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) plates. In the study, the effect of the number of bolts on the load capacity, energy dissipation, and stiffness of reinforced concrete beams were investigated by using anchor bolt of different numbers. Three strengthened with GFRP specimens, one flexural reference specimen designed in accordance to Regulation on Buildings Constructed in Disaster Areas rules, and one shear reinforcement insufficient reference specimen was tested. Anchorage was made on the surfaces of the beams in strengthened specimens using 2, 3 and 4 bolts respectively. All beams were tested under monotonic loads. Results obtained from the tests of strengthened concrete beams were compared with the result of good flexural reference specimen. The beam in which 4 bolts were used in adhering GFRP plates on beam surfaces carried approximately equal loads with the beam named as a flexural reference. The amount of energy dissipated by strengthened DE5 specimen was 96 % of the amount of energy dissipated by DE1 reference specimen. Strengthened DE5 specimen initial stiffness equal to DE1 reference specimen initial stiffness, but strengthened DE5 specimen yield stiffness about 4 % lower than DE1 reference specimen yield stiffness. Also, DE5 specimen exhibited ductile behavior and was fractured due to bending fracture. Upon the increase of the number of anchorages used in a strengthening collapsing manner of test specimens changed and load capacity and ductility thereof increased.

강섬유 보강 콘크리트의 조기 재령에서의 휨 인성 발현에 관한 연구 (Investigation of Flexural Toughness Development of Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete at Early Ages)

  • Since the mechanical properties of cement-based materials are time-dependent due to the prolonged cement hydration process, those of fiber reinforced concrete(FRC) may also be time-dependent. Toughness is one of important properties of FRC. Therefore, it should be investigated toughness development of FRCs with curing ages to fully understand the time-dependent characteristics of FRCs. To this end, the effect of curing ages on flexural toughness development of steel fiber reinforced concrete is studied. Three point bending test with notched beam specimen was adapted for this study. Hooked-end steel fiber(DRAMIX 40/30) was used as a fiber ingredient to investigate w/c ratio and fiber volume fraction effect on toughness development during curing. Three different water-cement ratios(0.44, 0.5 and 0.6) and fiber volume fractions(0%, 0.5% and 1%) were used as influence factors. Each mixture specimens were tested at five different ages, 0.5, 1, 3, 7 and 28 days. The study shows that flexure toughness development with age is quite different than other concrete material properties such as compressive strength. The study also shows that the toughness development trend correlates more closely to water/cement ratio than to fiber volume fraction.

Effectiveness of steel fibers in ultra-high-performance fiber-reinforced concrete construction

  • This study investigates the behavior of ultra-high-performance fiber-reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) with hybrid macro-micro steel and macro steel-polypropylene (PP) fibers. Compression, direct and indirect tension tests were carried out on cubic and cylindrical, dogbone and prismatic specimens, respectively. Three types of macro steel fibers, i.e., round crimped (RC), crimped (C), and hooked (H) were combined with micro steel (MS) and PP fibers in overall ratios of 2% by volume. Additionally, numerical analyses were performed to validate the test results. Parameters studied included, fracture energy, tensile strength, compressive strength, flexural strength, and residual strength. Tests showed that replacing PP fibers with MS significantly improves all parameters particularly flexural strength (17.38 MPa compared to 37.71 MPa). Additionally, the adopted numerical approach successfully captured the flexural load-deflection response of experimental beams. Lastly, the proposed regression model for the flexural load-deflection curve compared very well with experimental results, as evidenced by its coefficient of correlation (R2) of over 0.90.

Experimental investigation on self-compacting concrete reinforced with steel fibers

  • Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) has been originally developed in Japan to offset a growing shortage of skilled labors, is a highly workable concrete, which is not needed to any vibration or impact during casting. The utilizing of fibers in SCC improves the mechanical properties and durability of hardened concrete such as impact strength, flexural strength, and vulnerability to cracking. The purpose of this investigation is to determine the effect of steel fibers on mechanical performance of traditionally reinforced Self-Competing Concrete beams. In this study, two mixes Mix 1% and Mix 2% containing 1% and 2% volume friction of superplasticizer are considered. For each type of mixture, four different volume percentages of 60/30 (length/diameter) fibers of 0.0%, 1.0%, 1.5% and 2% were used. The mechanical properties were determined through compressive and flexural tests. According to the experimental test results, an increase in the steel fibers volume fraction in Mix 1% and Mix 2% improves compressive strength slightly but decreases the workability and other rheological properties of SCC. On the other hand, results revealed that flexural strength, energy absorption capacity and toughness are increased by increasing the steel fiber volume fraction. The results clearly show that the use of fibers improves the post-cracking behavior. The average spacing of between cracks decrease by increasing the fiber volume fraction. Furthermore, fibers increase the tensile strength by bridging actions through the cracks. Therefore, steel fibers increase the ductility and energy absorption capacity of RC elements subjected to flexure.
