  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of 8 weeks of forestry exercise on the quality of life and physical self-concept of breast cancer survivors. The subjects of this study were eight breast cancer survivors 6 months after mastectomy. The forest combined exercise program consisted of aerobic exercise through forest walking and resistance exercise using elastic bands. The forest combined exercise was conducted twice for 8 weeks. Forest trekking consisted of a 2km walking speed and resistance exercise consisted of three levels of sets and intensity. The format was divided into gradual increases. The exercise time was 40 to 60 minutes for forest trekking, 20 to 30 minutes for descent, and 40 to 60 minutes for resistance exercise, for a total of 120 to 130 minutes per day. Breast cancer survivors' quality of life was measured using a questionnaire, and changes in quality of life were measured using a t-test (α=.05). Physical self-concept was assessed through in-depth interviews. There was no statistically significant difference in quality of life before and after 8 weeks of combined forestry exercise, but there was a slight tendency to increase in the area of physical well-being. Physical self-concept showed positive changes in motivation, physical strength improvement, health promotion, physical competence, and self-confidence through the forest composite exercise. Therefore, the forest composite exercise is believed to have a positive effect on the physical self-concept of breast cancer survivors.

  • The purpose of this study is to prepare basic data to help college students adapt to college life by grasping the effects of mentoring skills, self-concept, career decision-making self-efficacy, and major satisfaction on college life adaptation. To achieve the purpose of the study, data were collected from January 17 to January 27, 2024, targeting college students from one university in C city located in G-do. The survey was conducted online. As a result of the study, the mentoring function of the subjects averaged 4.11 points (out of 5 points), the self-concept was 4.29 points (out of 5 points), the career decision-making self-efficacy was 4.04 points (out of 5 points), the major satisfaction was 4.45 points (out of 5 points), and the college life adaptation was 3.91 points (out of 5 points). The factor that most influenced the subject's adaptation to college life was career decision-making self-efficacy, followed by self-concept, mentoring function, and major-art field. The explanatory power of the model was 70.2%. Specifically, the higher the career decision-making self-efficacy, the higher the self-concept, and the higher the mentoring function, the higher the adaptation to college life. Educational intervention programs (non-curricular programs) are needed to adapt to college life for college students, and subsequent studies need to examine the effects of the developed programs.

Methods: A literature review was conducted to define the concept of recovery from a mental illness by using key words, "recovery", "mental health and illness", "concept analysis" and "recovery-oriented nursing", and searching the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, PubMed, Cochrane library and RISS4U database. Concept analysis of recovery was done, by using the Walker and Avant's framework of concept analysis. Results: Attributes of recovery for those living with mental illness included regain, life reconstruction, hope, adjustment, and health. Antecedents of recovery from mental illness included instilling hope, recovery vision, belief, peer support, recovery-oriented services, empowerment, personal accountability, education, human rights and culture. • This study examined the variables that influence middle school students' level of life satisfaction and tested a hypothetical structural equation model relating the variables to middle school students' level of life satisfaction. The subjects were 2,829 (1,411 boys and 1,418 girls) pupils who participated in the Korean Survey on the Familial Consciousness of Youth and Parents (KSYC-Familial Consciousness) in 2010. Data were analyzed through frequency, percentages, Pearson's correlations using SPSS 18.0 and structural equation modeling with AMOS 7.0. The findings are as follows. The proposed model, as revised, demonstrated the effectiveness of an analysis of the structural equation model and illustrated that all three variables (fathers' parenting behavior, communication with fathers, self-concept) indicated a direct or indirect influence on middle school students' level of life satisfaction. Fathers' parenting behavior had the greatest total effect on middle school students' life satisfaction. Fathers' parenting behavior, communication with fathers and self-concept explained 59% of the total variance of middle school students' life satisfaction. The implications for future studies are also discussed.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to conduct a concept analysis of health-related quality of life in children with epilepsy to promote conceptual clarification and facilitate mutual understanding of the concept. Methods: Walker and Avant's concept analysis method was adopted. Results: Health-related quality of life in children with epilepsy consists of six attributes: health status, inner strength, close relationships, resource-rich community, social acceptance, and changeability. According to the ecological system paradigm, these attributes are structured into five dimensions: organism, microsystem, macrosystem, exosystem, and chronosystem. These dimensions provide a comprehensive approach to the relationship between children with epilepsy and their environment. Epilepsy and interactions with multilevel ecological systems that are directly and indirectly related to children with epilepsy precede the concept, followed by positive and negative affective responses. Conclusion: The findings of this study may support effective communication in various practice settings, thereby contributing to the health and well-being of children with epilepsy, as well as the development and expansion of interventions to improve their health-related quality of life.
