  • Recently, online-game industry has been rapidly expanding in these days. But, the various game service victimized cases are generated by the bots program. Particularly, the abnormal collection of the game money and item loses the inherent fun of a game. It reaches ultimately the definite bad effect to the game life cycle. In this paper, we propose a Bots detection method by observing the playing patterns of game characters with game log data. It analyzed behaviors of human players as well as bots and identified features to build the model to differentiate bots from human players. In an experiment, by using the served online-game, the model of a user and bots were generated was distinguished. And the reasonable result was confirmed.

  • The task scheduling problem has received a lot of attention in recent years as a crucial area for research in the cloud environment. However, due to the difference in objectives considered by service providers and users, it has become a major challenge to resolve the conflicting interests of service providers and users while both can still take into account their respective objectives. Therefore, the task scheduling problem as a bi-objective game problem is formulated first, and then a task scheduling model based on the bi-objective game (TSBOG) is constructed. In this model, energy consumption and resource utilization, which are of concern to the service provider, and cost and task completion rate, which are of concern to the user, are calculated simultaneously. Furthermore, a many-objective evolutionary algorithm based on a partitioned collaborative selection strategy (MaOEA-PCS) has been developed to solve the TSBOG. The MaOEA-PCS can find a balance between population convergence and diversity by partitioning the objective space and selecting the best converging individuals from each region into the next generation. To balance the players' multiple objectives, a crossover and mutation operator based on dynamic games is proposed and applied to MaPEA-PCS as a player's strategy update mechanism. Finally, through a series of experiments, not only the effectiveness of the model compared to a normal many-objective model is demonstrated, but also the performance of MaOEA-PCS and the validity of DGame.

  • Although computer games seem to be efficient tools for facilitating and supporting situated learning in Europe, GBL(game based learning) is less likely in Korea. The objectives of this paper are to address the causes of the problem and evaluate a serious game for history GBL. We review various cases of history GBL projects in European School Net, commercial games and serious games which are related to history. We draw a demand of our game's structural type, learning criterion, basic model of instruction, and executable prototype from the analysis results. Scene management educators pursue and dependencies of turning points in the history are critical differentiator. An evaluation team of educators, learners, and edu-game managers evaluates that the prototype is suitable model for application in history instruction.

  • Recently, computer vision (CV)-based safety monitoring (i.e., object detection) system has been widely researched in the construction industry. Sufficient and high-quality data collection is required to detect objects accurately. Such data collection is significant for detecting small objects or images from different camera angles. Although several previous studies proposed novel data augmentation and synthetic data generation approaches, it is still not thoroughly addressed (i.e., limited accuracy) in the dynamic construction work environment. In this study, we proposed a game engine-driven synthetic data generation model to enhance the accuracy of the CV-based object detection model, mainly targeting small objects. In the virtual 3D environment, we generated synthetic data to complement training images by altering the virtual camera angles. The main contribution of this paper is to confirm whether synthetic data generated in the game engine can improve the accuracy of the CV-based object detection model.

  • Many previous researches in the area of online games have been carried out about internet addiction by psychologist and about the development of related technologies by scientists. There are a few studies about the consumer satisfaction from the online business model. The purpose of this study is to examine the causal relationship between critical factors and consumer satisfaction of online game users. This study model used five themes(interactivity, enjoyment, challenge, feedback, design) in order to identify the effect of critical factors on consumer satisfaction. The result of this study identified that interactivity, enjoyment, challenge have a significant effect on consumer satisfaction of online game users. Future areas for studying on the Effect of Critical Factors on Consumer Satisfaction of Online Game Users are continuously discussed.

  • Development of AR/VR has expanded computer games from indoor static contents to outdoor dynamic contents. The syndrome of 'Pokemon Go' which is a representative AR game was born, and Nintendo's stock price shot up a massive 120%. Although some people gained profits, new damages are emerging including illegal intrusion or road accidents because it is a type of game to visit real locations. There are reported about 114 thousand road accidents related to the game. This study aims to examine the trends of AR game in 2016 and analyze damages and positive cases to suggest a method for preventing accidents due to the AR game, and a business model.

  • A dynamic graph is suitable for representing and managing dynamic changable obstacles or terrain information in 2D/3D games such as RPG and Strategy Simulation Games. We propose a dynamic hierarchical graph model with fixed level to perform a quick A* path finding. We divide a graph into subgraphs by using space classification and space model, and construct a hierarchical graph. And then we perform a quick path fading on the graph by using our dynamic graph operators. With our experiments we show that this graph model has efficient properties for finding path in a dynamic game environment.

  • While there is consensus on the educational potential of serious games, there is still a lack of methodology and tools to support analysis and evaluation as well as design. This paper intends to explore the new methodology or design direction by analyzing pedagogy-related research required for serious games. To do this, we analyzed 4DF(Four Dimensional Framework), GOM(Game Object Model), LM(Learning Mechanics)-GM(Game Mechanics) and a framework for teacher. One of the biggest issues faced by educational games is the inadequate integration of education and game principles. This is due to a variety of factors, including the fact that game designers and educational professionals do not share a common vocabulary or work domain perspective.

  • Games are widely used in many fields, but not all games are successful. Then what makes games successful? The question gave us the motivation of this paper, which is to identify critical factors for successful games with topic modeling technique. It is supposed that game reviews written by experts sit on abundant insights and topics of how games succeed. To excavate these insights and topics, latent Dirichlet allocation, a topic modeling analysis technique, was used. This statistical approach provided words that implicate topics behind them. Fifty topics were inferred based on these words, and these topics were categorized by stimulation-response-desiregoal (SRDG) model, which makes a streamlined flow of how players engage in video games. This approach can provide game designers with critical factors for successful games. Furthermore, from this research result, we are going to develop a model for immersive game experiences to explain why some games are more addictive than others and how successful gamification works.
