The specific strength of magnesium alloy is four times that of iron and 1.5 times that of aluminum. For this reason, its use is increasing in the transportation industry which is promoting weight reduction. At room temperature, magnesium alloy has low formability due to Hexagonal closed packed (HCP) structure with relatively little slip plane. However, as the molding temperature increases, the formability of the magnesium alloy is greatly improved due to the activation of other additional slip systems, and the flow stress and elongation vary greatly depending on the temperature. In addition, magnesium alloys exhibit asymmetrical behavior, which is different from tensile and compression behavior. In this study, a jig was developed that can measure the plane deformation behavior on the surface of a material in tensile and compression tests of magnesium alloys in warm temperature. A jig was designed to prevent buckling occurring in the compression test by applying a certain pressure to apply it to the tensile and compression tests. And the tensile and compressive behavior of magnesium at each temperature was investigated with the developed jig and DIC equipment. In each experiment, the strain rate condition was set to a quasi-static strain rate of 0.01/s. The transformation temperature is room temperature, 100℃. 150℃, 200℃, 250℃. As a result of the experiment, the flow stress tended to decrease as the temperature increased. The maximum stress decreased by 60% at 250 degrees compared to room temperature. Particularly, work softening occurred above 150 degrees, which is the recrystallization temperature of the magnesium alloy. The elongation also tended to increase as the deformation temperature increased and increased by 60% at 250 degrees compared to room temperature. In the compression experiment, it was confirmed that the maximum stress decreased as the temperature increased.

Research on high-attenuation concrete for the vibration reduction performance by mixing epoxy-based synthetic resins and aggregates is actively being conducted. The curing time of high-attenuation concrete is very short because water is not used, and the physical and dynamic properties are very excellent. therefore, it is expected to be widely used in building structures requiring reduction of interior-floor noise and vibration. Furthermore, A way to expand the applicability of the high-damping concrete mixed with polymer in the field of reinforcement material have been variously studied. In order to replace polymer concrete with ordirnary concrete and existing anti-vibration reinforcement material, it is necessary to review overall vibration reduction performance considering physical properties, dynamic properties, productivity and field applicability. In this study, the physical and dynamic properties of polymer concrete by epoxy mixing ratio compared with ordirnary concrete. As a result, the elastic modulus was similar. On the other hand, polymer concrete for the compressive, tensile, and flexural strengths was quite more excellent. In particular, the measured tensile strength of polymer concrete was 4-10 times higher than that of ordirnary concrete. it was a big difference, and the frequency response function and damping ratio was studied through modal test and finite element analysis model. The dynamic stiffness of polymer concrete was 20% greater than that of ordirnary concrete, and the damping ratio of polymer concrete was approximately 3 times more than that of ordirnary concrete.

Concrete structures gradually age due to deterioration of materials or excess loads and environmental factors, and their performance decreases, affecting the usability and safety of structures. Although external tension construction methods are widely used among the reinforcement methods of old bridges, it is insufficient to identify the effects and effects of reinforcement depending on the level of aging. Therefore, in this study, a four-point loading experiment was conducted on the subject with the non-reinforced and external tensioning method to confirm the reinforcement effect of the external tensioning method, assuming the aging of the structure as a reduction in the compressive strength and tensile reinforcement of concrete, to analyze the behavior of the reinforcement and confirm the reinforcement effect. As a result of the experiment, it was difficult to identify the amount of reinforcement in the extreme condition due to early elimination of the anchorage. Therefore, compliance with the regulations on anchor bolts is required when applying the external tension reinforcement method. Crack load and yield load increased depending on whether external tension was reinforced, but before the crack, the stiffness before and after reinforcement was similar, making it difficult to confirm the reinforcement effect.

Since the 3D printing mortar is exposed to the atmosphere immediately after printing, moisture is largely evaporated from the surface of the layer. The evaporation of moisture on the surface of the layer greatly causes drying shrinkage and increases the risk of cracking and damage to the structure due to drying shrinkage. This study experimentally evaluated the shrinkage behavior of the initial age using the mortar used for 3D printing. The change in shrinkage was evaluated by comparing the shrinkage of the specimen cured by the sealing method and the atmospheric exposure method. In addition, compared with the case where type 1 cement was used 100%, the shrinkage amount was evaluated when 20% of fly ash was replaced and 10% of silica fume was used. In particular, the effect of three chemical admixtures applied using 3D printing on shrinkage was evaluated experimentally. When fly ash and silica fume were used, the shrinkage amount increased by 60 - 110% compared to the case when type 1 cement was used. The application of viscosity modifiers and shrinkage reducers reduced the shrinkage by at least 18% and at most 70% depending on the curing conditions. The temperature of the specimen temporarily decreased to 15 ℃ at the beginning of curing, and the correlation between the internal temperature of the specimen and the shrinkage behavior was observed.

The present study assessed the micro structure and durability characteristics of ternary blended cement with different types of alkali activators. Ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBS) and ferronickel slag(FNS) was replaced until 50 % of the weight of cement. In addition, potassuim hydroxide and sodium hydroxide were used for comparing the properties of different type of alkali activator. Ternary blended cement with alkali activators showed higher peak portlandite peak than that of OPC(Ordinary Portlande Cement) and non activated ternary blended cement. Also, there was no new hydration products in ternary blended cement or/and alkali activators. Based on the mercury intrustion porosimetry(MIP) test result, ternary blended cement increased macro pore while alkali activated ternary blended cement modified pore structure and increased microp pore as compared to OPC as control. Combination with alkali activators is desirable to enhance the compressive strength and freeze thaw resistance.

The purpose of this study is to develop an impact crusher with a radial rotating plate installed at the bottom, which is a shock absorber that can produce high-quality recycled coarse aggregate for concrete and to verify the effect of improving the quality performance of recycled coarse aggregate and its applicability through concrete tests. As a result, it showed improved quality in all items such as absolute dry density, absorption rate, abrasion resistance, Particle shape judgment rate, amount lost in the 0.08 mm sieve passing test, alkali aggregate reaction, clay mass, stability, and impurity content, and it was found to meet the criteria of recycled aggregate quality standards. In addition, the air volume and slump of concrete to which recycled coarse aggregate is applied meet all domestic standards. According to the test results of the compressive strength characteristics by age of concrete according to the mixing ratio of the recycled coarse aggregate, it was confirmed that the mixing ratio of the recycled coarse aggregate was applicable up to 60 %.

A new approach to the use of rice straw as a difficult-to-recycle agricultural waste was proposed. Potassium aluminosilicate was obtained by spark plasma sintering as an effective material for subsequent immobilization of 137Cs into a solid-state matrix. The sorption properties of potassium aluminosilicate to 137Cs from aqueous solutions were studied. The effect of the synthesis temperature on the phase composition, microstructure, and rate of cesium leaching from samples obtained at 800-1000 ℃ and a pressure of 25 MPa was investigated. It was shown that the positive dynamics of compaction was characteristic of glass ceramics throughout the sintering. Glass ceramics RS-(K,Cs)AlSi3O8 obtained by the SPS method at 1000 ℃ for 5 min was characterized by a high density of ~2.62 g/cm3, Vickers hardness ~ 2.1 GPa, compressive strength ~231.3 MPa and the rate of cesium ions leaching of ~1.37 × 10-7 g cm-2·day-1. The proposed approach makes it possible to safe dispose of rice straw and reduce emissions into the atmosphere of microdisperse amorphous silica, which is formed during its combustion and causes respiratory diseases, including cancer. In addition, the obtained is perspective to solve the problem of recycling long-lived 137Cs radionuclides formed during the operation of nuclear power plants into solid-state matrices.

Structural health monitoring (SHM) systems have attracted considerable interest owing to the frequent earthquakes over the last decade. Smart concrete is a technology that can analyze the state of structures based on their electro-mechanical behavior. On the other hand, most research on the self-sensing response of smart concrete generally investigated the electro-mechanical behavior of smart concrete under a static loading rate, even though the loading rate under an earthquake would be much faster than the static rate. Thus, this study evaluated the electro-mechanical behavior of smart ultra-high-performance concrete (S-UHPC) at three different loading rates (1, 4, and 8 mm/min) using a Universal Testing Machine (UTM). The stress-sensitive coefficient (SC) at the maximum compressive strength of S-UHPC was -0.140 %/MPa based on a loading rate of 1 mm/min but decreased by 42.8% and 72.7% as the loading rate was increased to 4 and 8 mm/min, respectively. Although the sensing capability of S-UHPC decreased with increased load speed due to the reduced deformation of conductive materials and increased microcrack, it was available for SHM systems for earthquake detection in structures.

In this study, the various performance of dry cement mortar for Korean floor heating system depending on water-to-dry mortar ratios (W/DM) applied in project site was evaluated. According to the experiment conducted, the importance of mixing water for dry cement mortar was revealed by resultant performance or quality of the dry cement mortar for floor finishing by changing W/DM controlled in project site by workers. As the general trend, the flow was increased, and the unit volume weight was decreased with increasing W/DM. Additionally, compressive strength and drying shrinkage were significantly influenced by W/DM. Hence, it can be stated that the adding water for dry cement mortar should be managed precisely since excessively increased W/DM for workability improvement can cause performance degradation of floor mortar with the failures such as excessive bleeding, and severe segregation during the fresh state. As a summary of the study, to achieve a desirable performance of dry cement mortar, approximately 20 % of W/DM can be suggested to be managed in project site.

Leakage due to deterioration and damage is one of the major causes of volume change by freezing and thawing, and it leads micro-cracking and surface scaling in concrete structures. The deterioration of damaged concrete accelerates with the chloride attack. Thus, in the detailed guidelines for facility performance evaluation (2020), the quality of cover concrete and the freeze-thaw (FT) repetition cycle were newly suggested for concrete durability assessment. The quality of cover concrete should be evaluated by the rebound hammer test and the FT repetition cycle should be also considered in the deterioration environmental assessment. This study suggested the application of fast dynamic based nonlinear ultrasound method to monitor initial micro-scale damage under freezing and thawing environment. Concrete specimens were fabricated with different water-cement ratios (40%, 60%) and air contents (1.5% and 3.0%). The compressive strength, rebound number, relative dynamic modulus, and nonlinear ultrasound were measured with different FT cycles. The scanning electron microscopy was also performed to investigate the micro-scale FT damage. As a result, both the rebound number and the relative dynamic modulus had difficulty to detect early damage but the proposed method showed a potential to detect initial micro-scale damage and predict the FT resistance performance of concrete.
