  • With the growing interest in energy storage and conversion systems including secondary batteries, capacitors, and water electrolysis, various electrode materials are being developed to improve the energy efficiency. Among them, graphene is regarded as one of the promising candidates owing to its exceptional properties - large surface area, and excellent electrical conductivity. Herein, we report a facile one-step electrochemical approach to synthesize exfoliated graphene/Fe oxide compound. The effect of experimental conditions - the types of applied voltage, kinds of counter electrodes, acidity of electrolyte on the synthesis of graphene/Fe oxide compound is investigated.

Performance of a Static Concentrator Photovoltaic Based on 4× Compound Parabolic Concentrator for Electric Vehicle Applications

  • In this report, we present the design, fabrication, and experiment of a static solar system for electric vehicle (EV) applications. The static concentration component is composed of compound parabolic concentrators (CPCs) couplings with multi-junction solar cells, where a flat silicon panel is added to the bottom of the CPV structure to maximize power generation. This design allows the system to collect both direct sunlight and diffused sunlight. The CPCs were fabricated with acrylic with a geometric concentration ratio of 4×. We built a prototype with a (3 × 3) cell array of CPCs with a thickness of 25 mm, which is as thin as conventional flat photovoltaic panels, and performed an outdoor experiment that showed that after six hours of operation, the system had an acceptance angle of approximately 43° and an average daily efficiency of 22.85%.

NIRS AS AN ESSENTIAL TOOL IN FOOD SAFETY PROGRAMS: FEED INGREDIENTS PREDICTION H COMMERCIAL COMPOUND FEEDING STUFFS

  • Directive 79/373/EEC on the marketing of compound feeding stuffs, provided far a flexible declaration arrangement confined to the indication of the feed materials without stating their quantity and the possibility was retained to declare categories of feed materials instead of declaring the feed materials themselves. However, the BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy) and the dioxin crisis have demonstrated the inadequacy of the current provisions and the need of detailed qualitative and quantitative information. On 10 January 2000 the Commission submitted to the Council a proposal for a Directive related to the marketing of compound feeding stuffs and the Council adopted a Common Position (EC N$^{\circ}$/2001) published at the Official Journal of the European Communities of 2. 2. 2001. According to the EC (EC N$^{\circ}$ 6/2001) the feeds material contained in compound feeding stufs intended for animals other than pets must be declared according to their percentage by weight, by descending order of weight and within the following brackets (I :< 30%; II :> 15 to 30%; III :> 5 to 15%; IV : 2% to 5%; V: < 2%). For practical reasons, it shall be allowed that the declarations of feed materials included in the compound feeding stuffs are provided on an ad hoc label or accompanying document. However, documents alone will not be sufficient to restore public confidence on the animal feed industry. The objective of the present work is to obtain calibration equations fur the instanteneous and simultaneous prediction of the chemical composition and the percentage of ingredients of unground compound feeding stuffs. A total of 287 samples of unground compound feeds marketed in Spain were scanned in a FOSS-NIR Systems 6500 monochromator using a rectangular cup with a quartz window (16 $\times$ 3.5 cm). Calibration equations were obtained for the prediction of moisture ($R^2$= 0.84, SECV = 0.54), crude protein ($R^2$= 0.96, SECV = 0.75), fat ($R^2$= 0.86, SECV = 0.54), crude fiber ($R^2$= 0.97, SECV = 0.63) and ashes ($R^2$= 0.86, SECV = 0.83). The sane set of spectroscopic data was used to predict the ingredient composition of the compound feeds. The preliminary results show that NIRS has an excellent ability ($r^2$$\geq$ 0, 9; RPD $\geq$ 3) for the prediction of the percentage of inclusion of alfalfa, sunflower meal, gluten meal, sugar beet pulp, palm meal, poultry meal, total meat meal (meat and bone meal and poultry meal) and whey. Other equations with a good predictive performance ($R^2$$\geq$0, 7; 2$\leq$RPD$\leq$3) were the obtained for the prediction of soya bean meal, corn, molasses, animal fat and lupin meal. The equations obtained for the prediction of other constituents (barley, bran, rice, manioc, meat and bone meal, fish meal, calcium carbonate, ammonium clorure and salt have an accuracy enough to fulfill the requirements layed down by the Common Position (EC Nº 6/2001). NIRS technology should be considered as an essential tool in food Safety Programs.

  • Nano materials have great potential for development of advanced lubricating and protecting materials. Nano-particles capped by organic compound such as organic acid, dialkyldithiophosphate (DDP) are capable to disperse stably in lubricating oils, and are able to reduce wear and to increase load-carrying capacity.

  • $NiCl_2$ vapor was introduced into conventional furnace to conduct vapor-induced crystallization (VIC) process. We made the metal chloride atmosphere by sublimating the $NiCl_2$ compound. The $NiCl_2$ atmosphere enhanced the crystallization of amorphous silicon thin films. As the result, polycrystalline Si film with large grain size and low metal contamination has been obtained.

식물정유 10 종의 라디칼 소거 활성과 주요 활성 성분의 탐색 (Radical Scavenging Effects of 10 Plant Essential Oils and Active Compound Screening Analysis)

  • Background: A growing interest in health has increased the need for the development of potent antioxidant materials known to play a role in various physiological activities. Currently research and development of non-toxic natural antioxidants with high activity is ongoing. Methods and Results: In this study, we measured 2,2'-azinobis- (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging ability of 10 plant essential oils, selecting samples of Dendranthema indicum, Dendranthema zawadskii, and Citrus sunki essential oils. The samples were analyzed using liquid chromatography (LC) and the radical scavenging activity on LC-based systems with the same conditions. In the LC-mass spectroscopy (MS)/MS analysis of the active compound peak, 2-methoxy-4-vinylphenol with a molecular weight of 150.1 g/mol was identified in C. sunki essential oils. Eugenol or isoeugenol with a molecular weight of 164.1 g/mol as identified in D. indicum and D. zawadskii essential oils as radical scavenging active compounds. Conclusions: In the LC-based measurement system, the active ingredient can be identified by simultaneously conducting profile analysis and the radical scavenging activity of essential oil samples. In addition, LC-MS/MS analysis of the active compound peaks can be performed under the same separation conditions to obtain data that can identify the active compounds in the sample.

Under Bump Metallurgy의 종류와 리플로우 시간에 따른 Sn 솔더 계면반응 (Interfacial Reactions of Sn Solder with Variations of Under-Bump-Metallurgy and Reflow Time)

  • 웨이퍼 레벨 솔더범핑시 under bump metallurgy (UBM)의 종류와 리플로우 시간에 따른 Sn 솔더범프의 평균 금속간화합물 층의 두께와 UBM의 소모속도를 분석하였다. Cu UBM의 경우에는 리플로우 이전에 $0.6\;{\mu}m$ 두께의 금속간화합물 층이 형성되어 있었으며, $250^{\circ}C$에서 450초 동안 리플로우함에 따라 금속간화합물 층의 두께가 $4\;{\mu}m$으로 급격히 증가하였다. 이에 반해 Ni UBM에서는 리플로우 이전에 $0.2\;{\mu}m$ 두께의 금속간화합물 층이 형성되었으며, 450초 리플로우에 의해 금속간화합물의 두께가 $1.7\;{\mu}m$으로 증가하였다. Cu UBM의 소모속도는 15초 리플로우시에는 100 nm/sec, 450초 리플로우시에는 4.5 nm/sec이었으나, Ni UBM에서는 소모속도가 15초 리플로우시에는 28.7 nm/sec, 450초 리플로우시에는 1.82 nm/sec로 감소하였다.

HA/Ti 복합층 코팅한 Ti-30Ta-(3~15)Nb 합금의 전기화학적 특성 (Electrochemical Properties of Ti-30Ta-(3~15)Nb Alloys Coated by HA/Ti Compound Layer)

  • Electrochemical properties of Ti-30Ta-$(3{\sim}15)$Nb alloys coated by HA/Ti compound layer have been studied by various electrochemical method. Ti-30Ta binary alloys contained 3, 7, 10, and 15 wt% Nb contents were manufactured by the vacuum furnace system. The specimens were homogenized for 24 hrs at $1000^{\circ}C$. The samples were cut and polished for corrosion test and coating. It was coated with HA/Ti compound layer by magnetron sputter. The HA/Ti non-coated and coated morphology of Ti alloy were analyzed by x-ray diffractometer(XRD) and filed emission scanning electron microscope(FE-SEM). The corrosion behaviors were investigated using potentiodynamic method in 0.9% NaCl solution at $36.5{\pm}1^{\circ}C$. The homoginazed Ti-30Ta-$(3{\sim}15wt%$)Nb alloys showed the ${\alpha}+{\beta}$ phase, and ${\beta}$ phase peak was predominantly appeared with increasing Nb content. The microstructure of Ti alloy was transformed from needle-like structure to equiaxed structure as Nb content increased. HA/Ti composite surface showed uniform coating layer with 750 nm thickness. The corrosion resistance of HA/Ti composite coated Ti-alloys were higher than those of the non-coated samples in 0.9% NaCl solution at $36.5{\pm}1^{\circ}C$. Especially, corrosion resistance of Ti-Ta-Nb system increased as Nb content increased.

Quantum Chemical Studies on Nicotinato Lead(II) Complex [Pb(II)(C5H4NCOO)2]

  • The title compound of nicotinato lead(II) complex [Pb$(C_5H_4NCOO)_2$] has been optimized at B3LYP/LANL2DZ and HF/LANL2DZ levels of theory. The calculated results show that the lead(II) ion adopts 2- coordinate geometry, which is the same as its crystal structure and different from the 4-coordinate geometry of isonicotinato lead(II) complex. Atomic charge distributions indicate that during forming the title compound, each nicotinic acid ion transfers their negative charges to central lead(II) ion. The electronic spectra calculated by B3LYP/LANL2DZ level show that there exist two absorption bands, which have some red shifts compared with those of isonicotinato lead(II) complex and the electronic transitions are mainly derived from intraligand $\pi$ -$\pi$ transition and ligand-to-metal charge transfer (LMCT) transition. CIS-HF method is not suitable for the system studied here. The thermodynamic properties of the title compound at different temperatures have been calculated and corresponding relations between the properties and temperature have also been obtained. The second order optical nonlinearity was calculated, and the molecular hyperpolarizability was $1.147754{\times}10^{-30}$ esu.

Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu 솔더범프의 금속간화합물 성장거동에 미치는 PCB 표면처리의 영향 (Effect of PCB Surface Finishs on Intermetallic Compound Growth Kinetics of Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu Solder Bump)

  • Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu 솔더범프의 금속간화합물 성장거동에 미치는 PCB 표면처리의 영향을 알아보기 위해서 PCB 패드 표면에 각각 OSP, immersion Sn, 그리고 ENIG를 처리하였고, 열처리는 $150^{\circ}C$ 조건에서 실험을 실시하였다. 또한, 전류인가시 Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu 솔더범프의 접합부 계면반응에 미치는 표면처리의 영향을 알아보기 위해서 $150^{\circ}C$, $4{\times}10^3\;A/cm^2$ 조건에서 electromigration특성을 비교 평가하였다. 열처리시 OSP와 immersion Sn의 금속간화합물 성장거동은 서로 비슷한 경향을 보인 반면, ENIG는 다른 표면처리에 비해 훨씬 느린 성장거동을 보였다. electromigration특성 평가결과 열처리에 비해 금속간화합물의 성장이 가속화되나 표면처리별 경향은 유사하였고, 전자 이동 방향에 따른 음극-양극에서 금속간화합물 형성의 차이를 보이는 극성효과(polarity effect)가 나타나는 것을 알 수 있었다.
