A study of the bending-extension-transverse shear coupled random response of the composite beams with thin-walled open sections subjected to various types of concentrated and distributed random excitations is dealt with in this paper. First of all, equations of motion of thin-walled composite H-type cross-section beams incorporating a number of nonclassical effects of transverse shear and primary and secondary warping, and anisotropy of constituent materials are derived. On the basis of derived equations of motion, analytical expressions for the displacement response of the composite beams are derived by using normal mode method combined with frequency response function method.

A numerical computation and experimental test have been performed for the investigation of dynamic behavior of composite beams with bonded piezo ceramics. The present finite element method based on layerwise approach can effectively evaluate the characteristics of the composite beams with bonded piezo ceramics. The natural frequencies and damping values were measured by fitting the frequency response function obtained from FFT analyzer. The frequency-dependent damping properties of composite material were measured to utilize them for the finite element analysis of the composite beams with bonded piezo ceramics. The experimental results are in good agreement with those of finite element analysis.
The aeroelastic stability analysis of composite bearingless rotors is investigated using a large deflection beam theory in hover. The bearingless rotor configuration consists of a single flexbeam with a wrap-around type torque tube and the pitch links located at the leading edge and trailing edge of the torque tube root. For the analysis of composite bearingless rotors, flexbeam is assumed to be a rectangular section made of laminate. Two-dimensional quasi-steady strip theory and Loewy's aerodynamic theory with the lift deficiency function are used for unsteady aerodynamic computation. The finite element equations of motion for beams are obtained using Hamilton's principle. Numerical results of selected bearingless rotor configurations are obtained for the lay-up of laminae in the flexbeam and pitch links location.
Polymeric composite structures used in ground transportation applications such as the carbody of tilting train may be exposed to a ground environmental conditions during long-term missions. In this study, the degradation of mechanical and physical properties of graphite/epoxy composite and glass fabric/phenol composite under ground environmental conditions was investigated. Accelerated environmental conditions of ultraviolet radiation, temperature, and moisture were considered. Several types of specimens were used to investigate the effects of environmental conditions on mechanical properties of the composites. Also, storage shear modulus, loss shear modulus, and tan 8 were measured as a function of exposure times through a dynamic mechanical analyzer. Finally, composite surfaces exposed to environmental conditions were examined using a scanning electron microscope.
A problem formulation and solution methodology for design optimization of laminated thin-walled composite beams of generic section is presented. Objective functions and constraint equations are given in the form of beam stiffness. For two different problems one for open section and the other for closed section, the objective function considered is bending stiffness about x-axis. Depending upon the case, one can consider bending, torsional and axial stiffnesses. The different search and optimization algorithm, known as Evolution Strategies (ES) has been applied to find the optimal fibre orientation of composite laminates. A multi-level optimization approach is also implemented by narrowing down the size of search space for individual design variables in each successive level of optimization process. The numerical results presented demonstrate the computational advantage of the proposed method "Evolution strategies" which become pronounced to solve optimization of thin-walled composite beams of generic section.
An equivalent single-layer theory (EST) is put forward for analyzing free vibrations of steel-concrete composite beams (SCCB) based on a higher-order beam theory. In the EST, the effect of partial interaction between sub-beams and the transverse shear deformation are taken into account. After using the interlaminar shear force continuity condition and the shear stress free conditions at the top and bottom surface, the displacement function of the EST does not contain the first derivatives of transverse displacement. Therefore, the C0 interpolation functions are just demanded during its finite element implementation. Finally, the EST is validated by comparing the results of two simply-supported steel-concrete composite beams which are tested in laboratory and calculated by ANSYS software. Then, the influencing factors for free vibrations of SCCB are analyzed, such as, different boundary conditions, depth to span ratio, high-order shear terms, and interfacial shear connector stiffness.
In the paper we establish some new results depending on the comparative growth properties of composite entire and meromorphic functions using relative $_pL^*$-order, relative $_pL^*$-lower order and differential monomials, differential polynomials generated by one of the factors.
In this paper we wish to introduce the concept of generalized relative index-pair (𝛼, 𝛽) of a p-adic entire function with respect to another p-adic entire function and then prove some results relating to the growth rates of composition of two p-adic entire functions with their corresponding left and right factors.
The main aim of this paper is to introduce the definition of 𝜑-proximate order of a meromorphic function on the complex plane. By considering the concept of 𝜑-proximate order, we will extend some previous results of Lahiri [11]. Furthermore, as an application of 𝜑-proximate order, a result concerning the growth of composite entire and meromorphic function will be given.
