  • PURPOSE. The goal of this study was to compare the adhesion of Candida albicans to the surfaces of CAD/CAM and conventionally fabricated complete denture bases. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Twenty discs of acrylic resin poly (methyl methacrylate) were fabricated with CAD/CAM and conventional procedures (heat-polymerized acrylic resin). The specimens were divided into two groups: 10 discs were fabricated using the CAD/CAM procedure (Wieland Digital Denture Ivoclar Vivadent), and 10 discs were fabricated using a conventional flasking and pressure-pack technique. Candida colonization was performed on all the specimens using four Candida albicans isolates. The difference in Candida albicans adhesion on the discs was evaluated. The number of adherent yeast cells was calculated by the colony-forming units (CFU) and by Fluorescence microscopy. RESULTS. There was a significant difference in the adhesion of Candida albicans to the complete denture bases created with CAD/CAM and the adhesion to those created with the conventional procedure. The CAD/CAM denture bases exhibited less adhesion of Candida albicans than did the denture bases created with the conventional procedure (P<.05). CONCLUSION. The CAD/CAM procedure for fabricating complete dentures showed promising potential for reducing the adherence of Candida to the denture base surface. Clinical Implications. Complete dentures made with the CAD/CAM procedure might decrease the incidence of denture stomatitis compared with conventional dentures.

  • This paper describes the results of complete Bouguer anomalies computed from the Free-air anomalies that derived from Sandwell and DNSC08 mairne gravity models. Complete bouguer corrections consist of three parts: the bouguer correction (Bullard A), the curvature correction (Bullard B) and the terrain correction (Bullard C). These all corrections have been computed over the East Sea on a $1'{\times}1'$ elevation data (topography and bathymetry) derived from ETOPO1 global relief model. In addition, a constant topographic (sea-water) density of $2,670kg/m^3$ ($1,030kg/m^3$) has been used for all correction terms. The distribution of complete bouguer anomalies computed from DNSC08 are -34.390 ~ 267.925 mGal, and those from Sandwell are -32.446 ~ 266.967 mGal in East Sea. The mean and RMSE value of the difference between DNSC08 and Sandwell is $0.036{\pm}2.373$ mGal. The highest value of complete bouguer anomaly are found around the region of $42{\sim}43^{\circ}N$ and $137{\sim}139^{\circ}E$ (has the lowest bathymetry) in both models. Theses values show that the gravity distribution of both models, DNSC08 and Sandwell, are very similar. They indicate that satellite-based marine gravity model can be effectively used to analyze the geophysical, geological and geodetic characteristics in East Sea.

  • A growth trial of 180 days was conducted on 18 crossbred calves (6-9 months, $73.48{\pm}6.52kg)$ by randomly allotting to two complete diets and a conventional diet (6 in each group). The complete diets were formulated containing 40 per cent cotton straw, one processed in mash form and other subjected to expander-extruder pelletization (EEP). These two complete diets were compared with conventional system of feeding under which concentrate mixture and cotton straw were fed separately in a 60:40 ratio. The calves on EEP complete diet consumed more (p<0.01) DM in comparison to other two groups. The DMI per 100 kg body weight was similar among all the diets. The ADG was significantly (p<0.01) higher in calves fed EEP complete diets (815.4 g) followed by mash (627.0 g) in comparison to conventional diet (464.9 g). The DM intake per kg metabolic body weight was higher (p<0.01) on complete diet than conventional diet. The intakes of DCP (p<0.05), TDN (p<0.01), and ME (p<0.01) per kg metabolic body weight were significantly higher on EEP complete diet in comparison to mash and conventional diet. The water intake per kg DM intake was comparable among all the diets. The efficiency of DM utilisation was higher p (<0.05) on EEP complete diet (5.84) in comparison to conventional diet (7.41), whereas on mash diet it was intermediate (6.68). The efficiency of DCP utilization was similar in mash and EEP complete diet fed groups, which was higher (p<0.05) than that of the conventional diet. Expander-extrusion though increased the cost of production it reduced the cost of feed per unit live weight gain by 12.28% in comparison to its mash form and by 16.76% when concentrate and cotton straw were fed separately. The results indicated that blending of cotton straw along with concentrates in a complete diet increased the palatability of the straw in comparison to conventional system and expander extruder processing of cotton straw based complete diet gave better growth performance and may form an economic ration for growing crossbred calves.

  • In this paper, we establish some ĆIRIC type fixed point theorems in α-complete and orbitally T-complete non-Archimedean modular metric spaces. Meanwhile, we present an illustrative example to emphasis the realized improvements. These obtained results extend and improve certain well known results in the literature.

  • Whether a given tree is a subgraph of the interconnection network topology is one of the important problem in parallel computing. Trees are used as the underlying structure for divide and conquer algorithms and provide the solution spaces for NP-complete problems. Complete binary trees are the basic structure among those trees. Binomial trees play an important role in broadcasting messages in parallel networks. If binomial trees can be efficiently embedded in complex binary trees, broadcasting algorithms can be effeciently performed on the interconnection networks. In this paper, we present average dilation 2 embedding of binomial trees in complete binary trees.

  • A simple nonparametric test of complete or total independence is suggested for continuous multivariate distributions. This procedure first discretizes the original variables based on their order statistics, and then tests the hypothesis of complete independence for the resulting contingency table. Under the hypothesis of independence, the chi-squared test statistic has an asymptotic chi-squared distribution. We present a simulation study to illustrate the accuracy in finite samples of the limiting distribution of the test statistic. We compare our method to another nonparametric test of complete independence via a simulation study. Finally, we apply our method to the residuals from a real data set.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to give the Wintner theorem in unital complete random normed algebras which is a random generalization of the classical Wintner theorem in Banach algebras. As an application of the Wintner theorem in unital complete random normed algebras, we also obtain that the identity operator on a complete random normed module is not a commutator.

  • A general result for the complete convergence of arrays of rowwise extended negatively dependent random variables is derived. As its applications eight corollaries for complete convergence of weighted sums for arrays of rowwise extended negatively dependent random variables are given, which extend the corresponding known results for independent case.

  • Using informations of subsets of divergence points and the relation between members of spectral classes, we give another complete decomposition of spectral classes generated by lower(upper) local dimensions of a self-similar measure on a self-similar Cantor set with full information of their dimensions. We note that it is a complete refinement of the earlier complete decomposition of the spectral classes. Further we study the packing dimension of some uncountable union of distribution sets.
