A Curriculum of a Subject of Enneagram for Developing Key Competency of University Students

  • This paper is to propose a curriculum of a subject of Enneagram which is to be open to develop key competency of university students. In the modern days of the 4th industrial revolution universities are being called for key competency-based education and innovation in education. Universities suggested various key competencies according to the university's founding philosophies. And they have been reorganizing the liberal arts curriculum in a way that it can reinforce key competencies of the students in the aspect of liberal arts education. In this paper, an example of C university which has 3 key competencies such as, citizenship, character, and creative intelligence was presented. Enneagram is a good candidate for developing self-development which is sub-competency of character.

  • Mathematics educators have examined mathematical modeling, where students tackle authentic real-life problems and develop problem-solving strategies with a sense of agency. However, few empirical studies have been conducted to illuminate the developmental process of teachers' competencies in mathematical modeling, particularly for elementary school teachers. Scholars have noted that elementary mathematics teachers can effectively teach mathematical modeling by designing tasks that consider students' abilities and preferences. In this vein, this review paper introduces a study conducted by Jung (2023), which examines the developmental process of an elementary school mathematics teacher's competencies in mathematical modeling and how she overcame related challenges.

Differences of Perception Between Students and Teachers to the Key Competencies Education in the University through A College Practice (대학의 직업기초능력 교육에 대한 교수와 학생의 인식 차이: A대학 사례를 중심으로)

  • The expectation and importance for the key competencies education in the university have been greater. Although there have been many various efforts of the university for its social accountability that it should cultivate the qualified person company requires, there is a bit gap between the university education and social demand. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the perception and demand of students and teachers to the key competencies and then offer a help to develop and operate strategies with which university education can be prepared for the demand of teachers, students and society. In this study, questionnaires on the perception and demand to the key competencies education were developed and responded by 475 students and 58 professors as a subject of this study. The results were analysed using multiple response frequency analysis, cross analysis and t-test. Also the statistical level of significance was set at p<.05 by using SPSS 12.0 for Windows. The results suggested that there were significant differences between the perception and demand of teachers and students to the key competencies education, particularly to the items questioning the degree of difficulty in preparing for future employment, the most important resource from which they can obtain aids, the degree of efforts they put for the key competencies development and employment, and the main factors for the key competencies development and employment. We can expect to offer an implication for the university education based on perception and demand of teachers and students to the key competencies.

  • This study was conducted to derive core and detailed competencies of dental hygienists to be utilized as educational targets to be reached by graduation as well as basic data that can be reflected in the development and improvement of dental hygiene curricula. This study analyzed publication reports from the Korean Dental Hygienists Association, the International Federation of Dental Hygienists, the Commission on Dental Accreditation, and the American Dental Education Association. Based on the academic classification system for dental hygiene studies, the components of core and detailed competencies of dental hygiene school at the time of graduation were extracted and developed through expert panel discussions. This study defined competencies at the graduation level of dental hygiene school and derived eight core competencies and their 52 detailed competencies to serve as educational objectives from four areas: professionalism, communication, clinical practice, and community and health promotion. In the future, it will be necessary to conduct self-assessments of competencies based on those developed in this study, at time of the graduation from dental hygiene school, as well as to continuously develop competency-based curricula according to entry level, knowledge level, and graduation level. Thus, it is urgently necessary to develop a system that can evaluate the competencies of dental hygienists after graduation and put this system into practical use.

A Comparison of the Mathematics Curriculum of Korea and Japan in Viewpoint of Promotion of Key Competencies (핵심 역량 육성의 관점에서 비교한 한국과 일본의 수학과 교육과정)

  • Today, people need to prepare key competencies demanded for life to be worthy of individual and to be successful for not only individual life but development of society. We can look for these competencies in the process of analysing of present and future society. On the basis of this cognition we desire to suggest certain key competencies in korea mathematics curriculum and to investigate how to realize them in this paper. First, we investigated key competencies demanded generally from several articles to deal with key competencies. Secondly, we inspected backgrounds and processes of implementing mathematics curriculum in Korea and Japan and checked the reason for laying key competencies on the center of curriculum. Thirdly, we arranged key competencies suggested in mathematics curriculum of two countries and compared how to realize them. Finally, on the ground of third contents we proposed current affairs to Korea mathematics curriculum.

Developing a Competence Model for Salespeople in Interior Remodeling Business - Focus on LG HAUSYS - (인테리어 리모델링 사업에서 영업사원의 핵심역량 모델 개발 - LG하우시스를 중심으로 -)

  • Recently, competition in the interior remodeling business is fierce. However, the interior remodeling business is basically B2B, and in this business, sales are basically dictated by the capabilities of salespeople. Therefore, in this study, we intend to develop a model for the core competency of salespeople in the interior remodeling business. To this end, based on the research on the existing competency and competency modeling, the competency model of the salesperson was derived using Dubois' overlay method. A total of 12 core competencies could be defined through the first and second modeling. The subject of this study was focused on LG Hausys, the most representative interior remodeling company in Korea. Based on the core competencies developed in this way, overall sales competencies can be raised through the development of a training course to enhance the sales competencies of salespeople, and a more efficient and objective HR.

The Development of Home-Visiting Nurses' Professional Competencies (보건소 방문간호사의 전문직 간호역량)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify professional competencies of visiting nurses in public health centers. Methods: A methodological study for the development of visiting nurses' professional competency was conducted through the review of literature and construction of a conceptual framework for the development of professional competence. After reviewing the content validity of each question and confirming the items of the preliminary tool, the construct validity of the tool was verified through exploratory factor analysis and internal reliability was confirmed. Results: After constructing 5 factors relating to the visiting nurse's professional competence, 25 items were developed, based on verification of content validity by experts. The results of the exploratory factor analysis showed that the professional competence of the visiting nurse was influenced by factors such as "health assessment and screening," "health teaching and counseling," "interprofessional communication", "program planning and implementation", and "Professional development". These five factors accounted for 76.38% of the professional competencies of the visiting nurse. Conclusion: The professional competence of the visiting nurse is consistent with the aim of the visiting nursing project. Also our results will contribute to baseline data used to evaluate the quality of work of the visiting nurse.

Design and Development of e-Learning Contents for the NCS Vacational Core Competencies: Focusing on Interpersonal Competency (NCS 직업기초능력 교육을 위한 이러닝 콘텐츠 설계 및 개발 : 대인관계능력을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the components and design strategies of e-learning content for the development of interpersonal competency, one of NCS vocational core competencies. In order to standardize the educational curriculum and content of interpersonal competency, this study has referred to the educational handbook of NCS vocational core competencies that the Human Resources Development Service of Korea has developed. Based on such standardized content, e-learning content components and design strategies were extracted by analyzing related studies and e-learning cases as well as by conducting surveys and interviews with experts and instructors of the field. Applying components and design strategies extracted through those investigations, the e-learning content for the development of interpersonal competency was developed. Its design's validity and educational effect were evaluated by interviews and surveys with students, professors, and experts. The evaluation results show that the e-learning content was appropriately designed and was effective in learning interpersonal competency as one of NCS vocational core competencies.

The Development of a Maturity Evaluation Model on the Technology Management Competence (MEMTMC) (국내 기업의 기술경영 역량수준의 성숙도 평가 모형 개발)

  • This research aims to develope a maturity evaluation model on the technology management competence (MEMTMC) and to investigate the relationship between technology management competencies and maturity evaluation level in Korean firms. After research framework building through literature review and field study focusing on interview process, a maturity evaluation model was suggested, including technology management competency factors such as vision and strategy, leadership, resources, projects, performance management, and systematic procedures. Through the empirical study on the 111 Korean firms, the MEMTMC model was tested and some hypotheses were examined. As a result of the research, we found that the MEMTMC is significant statistically to evaluate the technology management competencies of firms from a practical point of view. Additionally, these findings suggest that firms can build up their technology management competencies, including the vision and strategy, leadership, resources, projects, performance management, and systematic procedures in order to raise their maturity level of technology management competencies. But this research has some limitations such as this MEMTMC has not considered separately the variety of industry, not enough survey respondents and 5 level group firms etc.

Development of Premedical Curriculum in Inje University's College of Medicine (인제대학교 의과대학 의예과 교육과정 개발과 편성 사례)

  • One important purpose of premedical education is to help students attain core competencies during the two-year premedical program. Since premedical curriculum is the foundation of medical education, it is necessary to develop the premedical curriculum in accordance with the overarching curriculum of a medical school. Inje University's College of Medicine (IUCM) has attempted to integrate competency-based medical education into the premedical education curriculum. The revised premedical curriculum aims to develop students' intrinsic competencies during premedical years. In an effort to do so, IUCM defined competencies for premedical education, analyzed and designed premedical courses according to the defined competencies, and suggested learner-centered instructional methods. As a result of implementing the revised premedical curriculum, students have reported both positive experiences and difficulties. Based on the results, it will be necessary to continuously improve the premedical curriculum as well as develop appropriate methods for evaluating student achievement of the defined competencies.
