  • As GPU power consumption in smartphones increases with more advanced graphic performance, it becomes essential to estimate GPU power consumption accurately. The conventional GPU power model assumes, simply, that a GPU consumes constant power when turned on; however, this is no longer true for recent smartphone GPUs. In this paper, we propose an accurate GPU power model for smartphones, considering newly adopted dynamic voltage and frequency scaling. For the proposed GPU power model, our evaluation results show that the error rate for system power estimation is as low as 2.9%, on average, and 4.6% in the worst case.

  • As the entities participating Grid become larger, performance requirement for the LDAP-based GIS(Grid Information Service) goes beyond that provided by a stand-alone single LDAP server. This entails the exploration of distributed LDAP systems. This paper presents the performance evaluation respectively for a distribution-based and a replication-based LDAP model. The analysis is based on an analytic performance model for each distributed system which is obtained by applying the M/M/1 queuing model. The performance evaluation made to these analytic models reveals that the distribution-based and the replication-based model show a significant tradeoff in their performance with respect to the system size as well as the amount of system load.

  • Telematics is an emerging industrial field made up of the convergence of technologies. The key technologies for Telematics are server-side technology, terminal-side technology, communication-related technology, and positioning technology. Standardization in Telematics is now getting more notice these days. Domestic situation is explained for several related facilities such as ETRI, TTA, and Telematics Standardization Forum. In this paper, we will focus especially on the standard reference model that is the most fundamental framework of Telematics technology standardization. In the reference model, the Telematics system is composed of Telematics client part, communication part, and Telematics server part. The Telematics client part consists of terminal, positioning device, and car electronic devices. Communication part can be composed of various telecommunication channels such as CDMA, WLAN, DMB, WiBro, etc. which can guarantee the seamless two-way communication. Telematics server part is composed of TSP(Telematics Service Provider) server and CP(Contents Provider) servers gathering and managing the various Telematics services. This Telematics reference model is expected to be utilized as the base architecture in developing the technology and standards from now on.

  • Neighbor path selection is to pre-select alternate routes in case geographically correlated failures occur simultaneously on the communication network. Conventional heuristic-based algorithms no longer improve solutions because they cannot sufficiently utilize historical failure information. We present a novel solution model for neighbor path selection by using machine learning technique. Our proposed machine learning neighbor path selection (ML-NPS) model is composed of five modules- random graph generation, data set creation, machine learning modeling, neighbor path prediction, and path information acquisition. It is implemented by Python with Keras on Tensorflow and executed on the tiny computer, Raspberry PI 4B. Performance evaluations via numerical simulation show that the neighbor path communication success probability of our model is better than that of the conventional heuristic by 26% on the average.

  • A radar scattering model is developed based on an empirical rough surface scattering model, the radiative transfer model (RTM), a numerical simulation algorithm of radar scattering from particles, and experimental data obtained by ground-based scatterometers and SAR systems. At first, the scattering matrices of scattering particles such as a leaf, a branch, and a trunk, have been modeled using the physical optics (PO) model and the numerical full-wave analysis. Then, radar scattering from a group of mixed particles has been modeled using the RTM, which leads to a general scattering model for earth surfaces. Finally, the scattering model has been verified with the experimental data obtained by scatterometers and SAR systems.

  • Recently, the cross-model strategy of using male models in advertisements for women's cosmetics has been increasingly utilized. Academics have begun to discuss and study cross-model advertisements, but most of the studies have focused on the effects of the presence of a cross model. We investigated the effects of a crossmodel's product demonstration as an advertising creative strategy on consumer's attitudes toward the ad. We examined the effects of a male model demonstrating the advertised products for women's cosmetics on female consumers' attitudes toward the ad. As a result, we found that when a male model demonstrated a product in a women's product advertisement, consumers' attitudes toward the ad were more positive the higher their product involvement. Therefore, product involvement was found to be a moderating variable in the effect of cross-model product demonstration on attitudes toward the ad. This study contributes to the line of research on the effect of cross-model and product demonstration advertising, providing practical implications for advertising practitioners.

  • Effective internal communication is known to have a positive impact on business performance, but there is a lack of research on the effects of online channels for workplace communication. This study using regression analysis examines how task-technology fit, information richness, self-efficacy, perceived ease of use, and perceived usefulness related to online communication channels affect not only the satisfaction with the tools but also the effectiveness of them. Additionally, we verify how the organizational culture of online and offline communication shows the control effect. As a result, all five variables were positively correlated with internal communication channels satisfaction, and we found that the organizational culture of online and offline communication controls the relationship between online communication channels satisfaction and effectiveness.

  • In this study, a novel parallel wavefront correction system architecture is proposed, and a model-based tabu search (MBTS) algorithm is introduced for this new system to compensate wavefront aberration caused by atmospheric turbulence in a free-space optical (FSO) communication system. The algorithm flowchart is presented, and a simple hypothetical design for the parallel correction system with multiple adaptive optical (AO) subsystems is given. The simulated performance of MBTS for an AO-FSO system is analyzed. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm offers better performance in wavefront aberration compensation, coupling efficiency, and convergence speed than a stochastic parallel gradient descent (SPGD) algorithm.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the causal correlation between communication skill of organization and their job performance. In our model, we used these variables - innovation awareness, job satisfaction, organizational commitment as a parameter. In order to verify the hypothesis based on research model, a survey among researchers (sample size=117) who work in food company was carried out. Analyzing hypothesized model and following the statistical procedure, we could assure that there exist positive correlation with communication skill, innovation awareness, job satisfaction, organizational commitment and organizational performance. A coefficient of correlation between those variables was clearly high in the group with good communication skill. Among the parameters, the variable of innovation awareness was more effected on their job performance.
