  • The application of laser direct etching has been discussed, and believed that the process is a very powerful method for micro machining. This study is focused on the micro patterning technology using laser direct etching process with no chemical damage of the material surface. A new introduced concept of energy synergy effect for surface micro machining is the combination of chemically ion reaction and laser thermal process. The etchant can't etch the material in room temperature, and used Ar laser has not power enough to machine. But, the machining is occurred in local area of the material by the combined energy. Using this process, the material is especially prevented from chemical damage for electric property. We have tested this new concept, and achieved a line with $1{mu}m$ width. The Ar laser with 488nm wavelength was used. The material was Si(100) wafer, and etchant is KOH solution. The application and flexibility of this process is in great hopes for MEMS structures and fabrication of the micro electric device parts.

  • Statistical process control is used widely as an effective tool to solve the quality problems in practice fields. All the control charts used in statistical process control are parametric methods, suppose that the process distributes normal and observations are independent. But these assumptions, practically, are often violated if the test of normality of the observations is rejected and/or the serial correlation is existed within observed data. Thus, in this study, to screening process, the Combined Shewhart - CUSUM quality control chart is described and evaluated that used bootstrap method. In this scheme the CUSUM chart will quickly detect small shifts form the goal while the addition of Shewhart limits increases the speed of detecting large shifts. Therefor, the CSC control chart is detected both small and large shifts in process, and the simulation results for its performance are exhibited. The bootstrap CSC control chart proposed in this paper is superior to the standard method for both normal and skewed distribution, and brings in terms of ARL to the same result.

  • The characteristics of a combined cycle for the production of fresh water and air-conditioning was analyzed. The combined cycle consisted of an open water cycle and a $CO_2$ refrigeration cycle interlinked in the pre-heater of the water cycle, which is the condenser of the refrigeration cycle. The oprating conditions and criteria for the fresh water production and air-conditioning was described and their effects on the total system were evaluated. The results indicated an increase of desalinated water with the increase of hot water temperature, which resulted in the decrease of cooling capacity of the refrigeration system in this study. However, the energy saving correspond to the pre-heating of the water cycle by the condensing of the refrigeration system shows the avilable advantage of the proposed cycle as compared to other single purpose plants for desalination.

  • A new advanced combined PVD/CVD technique of DLC film deposition has been developed. Deposition of a DLC film was carried out using a pulsed carbon arc discharge in vapor hydrocarbon atmosphere. The arc plasma enhancing CVD process promotes dramatic increase in the deposition rate and decrease of compressive stress as well as improvement of film thickness uniformity compared to that obtained with a single PVD pulsed arc process. The optical spectroscopy investigation reveals great increase in radiating components of $C_2$ Swan system molecular bands due to acetylene molecules decomposition. AFM, Raman spectroscopy, XPS and nano-indentation were used to characterize DLC films. The method ensures obtaining a new superhard DLC nano-material for deposition of protective coatings onto various industrial products including those used in medicine.

  • In the agricultural sector where the fossil fuels are primary energy resources, the current global energy crisis together with the dissemination of smart farming has led to the new phase of energy pattern in which the electricity demand is growing faster particularly. Therefore, the fuel cell combined heat and power system, coupling the environmentally friendly fuel cell to biomass treatment and feeding, can be regarded as the most effective energy system in agriculture. In this mini-review, we discuss the R&D trend of the fuel cell combined heat and power system aimed at utilizing agricultural by-products as fuels and highlight the issues in terms of the process configuration and interconnection of individual processes.

  • Recently damages caused by the additional costs and degradation in durability combined deterioration due to plain concrete deterioration has occurred. In particular, in the case of the finish that is not exposed to the outside air in the concrete to respond to the harsh environment (freeze-thawing, calcium laying, etc.), to establish a quality control way for the process and the concrete mix design for it.

  • This is the final one of the two companion papers dealing with accuracy of accumulated fatigue damage estimation under wide band process. It is stated that four kinds of wide band models exist: typed of equivalent stress, combined PDF, correction factor, and damage combination. For the idealized ESDs from full scale measurement data on an 8100TEU container vessel, fatigue damages are compared for a narrow band prediction model based on Rayleigh PDF and five wide band fatigue prediction models of Dirlik, Wirsching-Light, Jiao-Moan, Benasciutti and DNV. DNV model consistently overestimates fatigue damages regardless of variation of ESDs. Predictions by Jiao-Moan model, which is understood as standard method for design of offshore platforms, are also in conservative side. Best accuracy is found from the results by Dirlik and Benasciutti models, but Benasciutti model is preferred since it can easily combined with narrow band fatigue damage based on Rayleigh PDF.

  • In this paper, experimental and numerical study on a combined sheet metal forming and plate forging of a seal part of a passenger car's hub bearing is conducted to develop the new process of which target is to remove machining process by plate forging and to achieve near-net shape manufacturing. The previous process of a sheet metal forming inevitably needed a machining process for making stepped sheet after conventional sheet metal forming in a progressive way. The stepped sheet is intended to be formed by plate forging in this study. Through the systematic way of developing the combined forming process using solid elements based-elastoplastic finite element method (FEM), several conceptual designs are made and an optimized process design in terms of geometric dimensioning and tolerance of straightness of the thin part is found, which is exposed to bending in metal forming of axisymmetric part. The predicted straightness measured by the slope angle of the tilted thin region is compared with the experimental straightness, showing that they are in a good agreement with each other. Through this study, a systematic approach to optimal process design, based on elastoplastic FEM with solid elements, is established, which will contribute to innovating the conventional small-scaled sheet metal forming processes which can be dealt with by solid elements.

  • Combined De-NOx Process in which $NH_3$ SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) and non-thermal Plasma Process are simultaneously used, has been investigated with a pilot test facility. The pilot test facility treats the combustion flue gases exhausted from a diesel engine that generates 240 kW of electrical power. Test results show that up to 80 % of NOx (NO and NO2) can be removed at 100 - $200^{\circ}C$. None of conventional De-NOx techniques works under such low temperature range. In addition to NOx. the Pilot test results show that soot can be simultaneously treated with the present non-thermal plasma technique. The present pilot test shows that the electrical power consumption to operate the non-thermal plasma reactor is equivalent to 3 - 4 % of the electrical power generated by the diesel engine.
