Coloration of Cotton Fabrics with Condensable Tannins of Persimmon Extracts by Heating Process (축합형 감 탄닌 추출물의 열 발색공정에 의한 면직물 염색)

  • The heating process for coloration of persimmon extracts was examined instead of the general light irradiation method. The raw and fermented persimmon extracts were investigated in terms of the coloration phenomena onto cotton fabrics at various conditions. For both extracts, the color strength of fabrics was increased with the increase of coloration temperature, time and concentration of the extracts. The color fastness to washing was excellent for both color change and staining showing a rating of 5.

Coloration Conditions of Clay Minerals on Cotton Fabrics and Analysis of Components (면포에 대한 점토광물의 착색조건과 착색성분 분석)

  • An analysis of the components of clay mineral before and after coloration (XRF) showed that the elements involved in coloration are Fe, Cr, and Ni. Fe accounts for 65% of coloring components on dyed fabric; in addition, Cr and Ni also affect coloring. The optimal coloration condition was to repeat the process of immersing the cotton fabric in $80^{\circ}C$ slurry of 8g of clay mineral to 1g cotton for 60 minutes, dry it for 24 hours and rinse three times. Especially, as the repetition of coloration increased, the $(K/S)_{440}$ value of sample A increased from 1.0 to 2.5, and sample B increased from 1.0 to 1.6. The effect of the repeated process on coloration was significant; consequently, the rinsing and drying process were important to decrease the coloration level. It also showed excellent results in regard to color fastness to washing, light, rubbing, perspiration, and antibiotic effect.

The Effect of Dot Pattern Size and the Variation of Coloration on Dress Wearers' Image Formation - Focused on Coloration of Value Contrast - (물방울 무늬의 크기와 배색 변화가 원피스 드레스 이미지에 미치는 영향 - 명도 대비 배색을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of dot pattern size(0.8, 1.8, 2.5, 5, 8), color combination (BG/R, Y/B), value tone(lt/dk, p/g), area-ratio on image information. Sets of stimulus and response scales(7 point semantic) were used as experimental materials. The stimuli were 20 color pictures manipulated with the combination of dot pattern size, color combination, value tone and area-ratio using computer simulation. The subjects were 240 female undergraduates living in Gyeongsangnam-do. Image factor of the stimulus was composed of 4 different components, visibility, chastity.feminity, cuteness and attractiveness. In the visibility, color combination, value tone, area-ratio, dot pattern size showed independent effect. In the chastity feminity, color combination, value tone, showed independent effect. In the cuteness, value tone, area-ratio, dot pattern size showed independent effect. Significant interaction effects of color and area-ratio combination on visibility and cuteness were found. Interaction efforts of color and value tone combination, value tone and area-ratio was significant on cuteness. For visibility image, BG/R combination of color and yellow background/blue dots were effective. For cuteness image, pale/grayish tone and background/dots area-ratio were effective.

A Study on the Harmony according to Tone on Tone Coloration of Shirt and Necktie-On Warm and Cool Color- (셔츠와 넥타이의 톤 온 톤 배색에 대한 조화감 연구 - 한난색을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the harmony evaluation and the effects used clues on harmony perception in terms of 32 tone on tone coloration of male shirt and necktie by male and female students when it comes to the coloration of male clothes shirts and necktie, after shirts matched necktie with warm and cool color, such as red, blue, and changed only value among three attributes of color. The results are as fellows. As to the red, light-dull, dull-dark was evaluated as harmonized coloration regardless of area-ratio by both male and female students. As to the blue, vivid-dark, light-dark, dull-dark was evaluated as harmonized coloration regardless of area-ratio by both male and femate students. Among 16 red tone on tone coloration stimuli, both female and male students evaluated the same 10 set as harmonized, but among 16 blue tone on tone coloration stimuli, female students evaluated 9 set, male students 12 set, so proved that male's range of harmony more extensive than that of female. It is significant difference between female and male on red dull shirt and vivid tie, blue dull shirt and dull tie combination. Females were positive to red dull shirt and vivid tie combination, males were negative, on the other hand, males were positive to blue dull shirt and dull tie combination, females were negative.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of three clothing cues(jacket color, skirt color, and tone of dress) on female impressions. The experimental materials developed for this study are a set of stimuli and response scales. The Stimuli are If color pictures manipulated with three clothing cues by drawing. The 7-point scale designed for visual evaluation of female impression formation includes 24 bipolar adjectives. The subjects were 192 undergraduate female students in Jinju city. The results of this study are as follow: As analyzing the impression of female figure by the jacket color, skirt color, and tone, three factors including youth${\cdot}$activity, attractiveness, and visibility were identified. Among these factors, youth${\cdot}$activity and attractiveness were proved to be more important. Some interaction effects of clothing cues were found. Jacket color and tone had significant effects on the impression of visibility. The combination of skirt color and tone had significant effects on youth${\cdot}$activity, attractiveness, and visibility.

Image factor of the stimulus was composed of 5 different components, visibility, attractiveness, cuteness, stability and high class image. In the cuteness, color combination, dot pattern size showed independent effect. In the stability, area-ratio, dot pattern size showed independent effect. Interaction effects of color and area-ratio combination was significant on cuteness. For visibility image 8cm yellow dot/blue background, for attractiveness image BG/R coloration, for cuteness image Y/B coloration and for stability image 0.8cm yellow dot/blue background were effective. According to the variation of dot pattern size, color combination and area-ratio, it was investigated that the images for a dress wearer were expressed diversely, were shown differently in image dimensions, and could be produced to different images.

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the image dimension depending on the coloration of the Korean jacket of cromatic colors and the Korean skirt of acromatic color and to elucidate the image difference depending on the tone variation of the Korean jacket and the Korean skirt. The experimental materials used for this study were sets of stimulus and response scales(7 point semantic). The stimuli manipulated by computer simulation were 48 color pictures with various combinations of colors of jackets and skirts. The subjects were 576 female undergraduates living in Jinju city. This experiment was based on the $3{\times}4{\times}4$ factorial designs: jacket color(red, yellow and green), jacket tone(vivid, light, dull and dark), and skirt tone(N9, N7, N4 and N2). Image factor of the stimuli consisted of 4 different dimensions(youthfulness and activity, gracefulness, visibility and tenderness). Among them, the youthfulness and activity, and the gracefulness were important. According to the tone variation of Korean jacket of cromatic colors and Korean skirt of acromatic color, the images for a wearer were expressed diversely and showed the difference in image dimensions.

  • The deep black coloration of polyester fabrics was obtained by the physical properties of color and color mixing system. In this experiment, we have measured the absorbance and the reflectance of various disperse dyes for accomplishing the lowest lightness value and uniform reflectance, and new matching algorithm and computer color matching was made. The matching used both isomeric and metameric matching. The color matching of deep black color represented low lightness. Though actual reflectance of dyed polyester fabrics using these matching results was as high as theoretical one, low lightness value($L^*$) and uniform appearance were achieved.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of color, shirt tone, tie tone, perceiver's gender on impression formation by applying tone on tone coloration of shirt and necktie: coloration of two colors. The experimental materials developed for this study were a set of stimulus and response scales. The stimuli were 32 upper body photographs which were color outputs by CAD system(4D-box program). We unified those colors of shirts and neckties same, then made shirt and necktie tone differently. 27 bi-polar adjectives, each of which was graded into seven in its degree, were used to evaluate the impression. The subjects of this research were 192 male and 192 female college students in Gyeongnam province including Jinju City. The data was analyzed by using SPSS program. Analysis methods were four-way ANOVA. The items of the adjectives were classified into 5 impression dimension. - potency, activity, attractiveness, visibility and tenderness. Color, shirt tone, tie tone, and perceiver gender influenced on 5 impression formation by interaction as well as independently. Blue tie with vivid, light or dull tone had an effect on the formation of potency impression, vivid or light tone of shirt affected activity regardless of color or tie tone. As shirt and tie had different tone, effect on the formation of attractiveness impression, light tone had a negative effect on visibility but positive effect on tenderness. red color were more effective than blue expressed on visibility and tenderness in shirt or tie.

A Study In the Preference of Tone on Tone Coloration in Traditional Korean Dress (한복의 톤 온 톤 배색에 대한 선호도 연구)

  • The purpose of this research was to compare the preference of tone on tone coloration of traditional Korean dress by Korean and American women college students. The respondents were asked to evaluate 48 stimuli of the traditional Korean skirt and jacket with different tone of color. It could be supposed that the different evaluation were caused by their different cultural backgrounds. The results of research can be summarized as follows. As to the red colors, Korean students preferred vivid and light tone coloration, and disliked dull and dark tone coloration, the same tone coloration. but American students preferred usually the same tone coloration and preferred coloration of 4 tone skirts and vivid jacket, dull and dark tone coloration. As to the yellow colors, Korean students preferred dull and dark tone coloration and disliked the same tone coloration. American students preferred vivid and light tone coloration and disliked dull tone coloration as dull jacket and skirt. As to the green colors, Korean students preferred dull and dark tone coloration and disliked the same tone coloration. American students preferred dull and dark tone coloration and preferred the same tone coloration.
