The purpose of this study was to investigate the dietary behavior, dietary intakes and internet searches regarding diseas by college students participating in a nutrition education web class. The study subject were 1184 college students and crosssectional survey was conducted by a self-administered questionnaire. The questionnaire deal with anthropometric data, diseas, dietary behaviors, dietary intakes, and the use of nutrition information via the internet. The data was analyzed using a SPSS PC program. Disease group was 19.6% (male: 17.1%, female: 21.9%) and non-disease group was 80.4% (male: 82.9%, female: 78.1%) of subjects. As for the kinds of diseas, the male disease group had stomach diseas (15.7%), ozena (15.7%), hepatitis (10.8%) and allergic disease (7.8%), etc, and the female disease group had stomach diseas (32.8%), allergic diseas (12.0%), bronchitis and bronchial asthma (10.4%), anemia (7.2%), and constipation (1.6%), etc. Non-disease group showed significantly higher irregularity of meal time compared to disease group. Also, Disease group showed significantly higher concern about nutrition and health, worse recognition of theirown nutrition and health satus, and made greater efforts to prevention diseas compared to the non-diseas group. In the male subjects, the average intake of Calories, Vitamin $B_2$ and calcium was lower than the Korean RDA and in the female subjects, those of Calories, calcium and Fe were lower than the Korean RDA. Most of the diseas (97%) and the non-disease (98.2%) groups had positive attituds toward the usefulness of internet nutrition information. The disease group showed a higher confidence in the internet nutrition information and recognition of internet information on poisons compared to the non-diseas group. However, this difference was not significant. Therefore. it is necessary to provide sientifically proven nutrition of information via the internet for college students in order to promote healthful lifestyles and to prevent diseas.

This study was conducted to develop and apply clinical nursing practice training simulation program using Standardized Patient for Nursing Students focused on infectious respiratory disease. This study is descriptive methodological study. Through prior consideration of documents and educational task of infectious respiratory disease was conducted with interview of clinical specialists of infection control managers. Development of educational task for infectious respiratory disease for Nursing Students went through the content validity. Finally, 10 educational tasks are developed 'knowledge of respiratory infections disease', 'hand washing', 'put on mask', 'lead to put on mask to patients and caregiver', 'intravenous injection via 3way', 'surgical aseptic technique', 'sterilization medical instrument', 'management of contaminated linen', 'infected personnel management manual'. The infectious respiratory disease simulation program was developed based on the ADDIE model and proceeded to 4 steps of analysis, design, development, implementation. The infection control education program included lectures (20 min), skill training (20 min), simulation using standardized patient (20 min), and debriefing (40 min), The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics with SPSS program for version 23.0. The results of this study confirmed that the clinical nursing practice training simulation program using standardized patients was effective in infectious respiratory disease of the nursing college students in knowledge of infectious respiratory disease and clinical nursing performance. we found this practical training program for nursing college students to improve knowledge and clinical competency of infection control. we expected that this developed program could be applied to practical training for various infectious control.
Given the global impact of the AIDS pandemic, it is necessary to take every measure to prevent an epidemic of this disease in Korea. The only available strategy is prevention. Considering college students as a potential risk group, this study examined their knowledge of, and attitudes toward AIDS. In this study, 399 students from three colleges in Pusan and Uoolsan were examined for their attitudes to, and knowledge of AIDS. Findings indicate that the majority of the students(90%) had basic knowledge on the transmission and the prevention of the disease. However, most of them, including nursing students, lacked knowledge as to the etiological agent, major symptoms and available diagnostic techniques. To the questions designed to examine social attitude towards AIDS patients, the students showed a tendency to view AIDS patients as responsible for their own illness. Interestingly, they showed sympathy to their imaginary friends and relatives suffering from AIDS. The study findings suggest a need for the development of AIDS educational programs for college students.
Background: In this study, we aimed to investigate the drinking behaviors and drinking-related problems of college students in South Korea to produce national alcohol statistics. Methods: We carefully examined the questionnaires and previous research developed in the previous research project and selected questions that reflect the special environment and culture of college students. In order to stratify a nationally representative sample of college students, the distribution of students around the country were found through the educational statistics database of the Korea Educational Development Institute. Based on this information, we conducted a survey in collaboration with Gallup (Korea) to survey and analyze the drinking behaviors of 5,024 Korean students. Results: A nationwide cross-sectional survey was conducted in 2017, for Korean college students. A total of 5,024 students were recruited and analyzed. The monthly drinking rate was 78.0% for male students and 72.9% for female students. The high-risk drinking rate was 23.3% for male students and 17.2% for female students. The most popular category for number of drinks per drinking session was 'more than 10 glasses' per drinking session for both male (44.1%) and female (32.8%). On the alcohol use disorders identification test, the greatest proportion of male students were in the high-risk drinking category (score 8 to 15) 43.8%, followed by the 'low-risk drinking' (score 0 to 7) in 43.6%, 'alcohol abuse' (score 16 to 19) 7.2%, and 'alcohol dependence' (greater than 20) 5.4% categories, respectively. For female students, the greatest proportion of female students were in the 'low-risk drinking' in 49.6%, followed by 'high-risk drinking' 37.1%, 'alcohol abuse' 8.4%, and 'alcohol dependence' 4.9% categories, respectively. Conclusion: The results of the study showed that the drinking behavior of Korean college students was excessive. Overall, it was found that the college population has a greater high-risk drinking behaviors than general adult population. Furthermore, these problem drinking behaviors were prominent among female college students. Results from the present study suggest that it is necessary to monitor the drinking behavior of college students with constant interest and to prepare policies and strategies suitable for these circumstances.
Background & Objectives: The purpose of this study is to present infectious diseases control and crisis response plans for International students by investigating the management of International students and prevention of infectious diseases targeting International students infectious disease control managers at universities in Busan in a situation where the risk of infectious diseases increases due to the spread of COVID-19. Methods: The data were collected from 14 International students infectious disease control managers at universities in Busan. Statistical analysis was done by using SPSS 22.0. Results: There were differences in the importance and performance of COVID-19 infectious disease control and support work by university. Conclusions: It is necessary to integrate management of support and roles of infectious diseases control for foreign students. Furthermore, strengthening the competence of experts and communication tools with international students are needed.
Purpose : The first case of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) disease outbreak in Korea occurred in January 2020, and the cumulative number of confirmed cases by the Central Defense Response Headquarters of the Quality Management Administration as of November 30 was 34,201. Looking at the incidence trend of domestic confirmed cases by age, the incidence rate of COVID-19 in the age group of 20-29 years, which corresponds to college students, was 27.4 %, the highest compared by age group. Considering the current status of the infection rate, universities will become the centers of new COVID-19 cases if face-to-face lectures are recommenced without preparatory measures and analysis of infection prevention (e.g., infection awareness and education for university students). Thus, this study intended to investigate the level of knowledge, educational needs, and preventive behavior performance of college students about COVID-19 and provide basic data for the development of an education program for the prevention of COVID-19 for college students. Methods : This study is a descriptive correlational study aimed to investigate the correlation between knowledge about COVID-19, educational needs, and degree of preventive behavior performance in 407 college students attending one University in Gyeonggi-do. Results : The subjects' knowledge score about COVID-19 was 12.46±1.39 points, average educational needs score was 29.16±3.14 points, and prevention behavior performance survey result was 35.50±3.61 points. Moreover, positive correlation was observed between the knowledge about COVID-19 and educational needs (r=.203, p<.001) and knowledge and preventive behavior performance (r=.140, p=.005). Further, educational needs and preventive behavior performance demonstrated a statistically significant positive relationship (r=.311, p<.001). Conclusion : Therefore, organizing an educational program to acquire accurate knowledge is necessary to make it a habit for college students to practice preventive behavior against COVID-19.
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to examine the impact of self-efficacy in the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (STD), knowledge of and susceptibility to STD, and the role of gender in sexual autonomy. Methods: Data were collected from 267 college students using self-report questionnaires during the period from the first to the twentieth of June 2015. Data were analyzed using $x^2$ test, Fisher's exact test, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients, simple and multiple regression techniques with the PASW/WIN 20.0 program. Mediation analysis was performed according to the Baron and Kenny method and Sobel test. Results: In male students, self-efficacy for STD prevention showed a full mediating effect in the relationship between STD susceptibility and sexual autonomy (${\beta}$=-.08, p=.370). But in female students, it had a partial mediating effect (${\beta}$=-.25, p=.001). And self-efficacy for STD prevention showed partial mediating effects in the relationship between knowledge of STD and sexual autonomy in the both male (${\beta}$=.25, p=.005) and female students (${\beta}$=.33, p<.001). Conclusion: To enhance college students' sexual autonomy, it may be useful to build effective strategies enhancing students' knowledge about and susceptibility to STD and to develop a self-efficacy promotion program for college students.
Purpose: This study aimed to survey coronavirus disease (COVID-19) related knowledge, preventive possibility, and preventive behaviors levels among college students and identify the correlation between these variables. Methods: An online survey was conducted among college students from October 25 to November 5, 2021. The data were analyzed by an independent t-test and Pearson's correlations. Results: A total of 344 college students participated. The correct answer rate for COVID-19 knowledge level was high, infection and preventive possibility levels were moderate, and the anxiety level was high. Infection possibility had a positive correlation with anxiety and preventive behaviors had a positive correlation with preventive possibility. Conclusion: The findings regarding COVID-19 perception can be used to develop appropriate health policies for infectious disease prevention behaviors in educational fields.
Purpose: This study aimed to develop an emerging infectious disease (COVID-19) simulation module for nursing students and verify its effectiveness. Methods: A one-group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental study was conducted with 78 under-graduate nursing students. A simulation module was developed based on the Jeffries simulation model. It consisted of pre-simulation lectures on disaster nursing including infectious disease pandemics, practice, and debriefings with serial tests. The scenarios contained pre-hospital settings, home visits, arrival to the emergency department, and follow-up home visits for rehabilitation. Results: Disaster preparedness showed a statistically significant improvement, as did competencies in disaster nursing. Confidence in disaster nursing increased, as did willingness to participate in disaster response. However, critical thinking did not show significant differences between time points, and neither did triage scores. Conclusion: The developed simulation program targeting an infectious disease disaster positively impacts disaster preparedness, disaster nursing competency, and confidence in disaster nursing, among nursing students. Further studies are required to develop a high-fidelity module for nursing students and medical personnel. Based on the current pandemic, we suggest developing more scenarios with virtual reality simulations, as disaster simulation nursing education is required now more than ever.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the extent of awareness and understanding of college students on temporomandibular disorder (TMD) and to search for avenues for raising public awareness and improving knowledge about TMD. Methods: One thousand and one hundred and twenty one college students in Gyeonggi-do completed a questionnaire related to awareness, experience and knowledge of TMD and collected data were analyzed by Pearson's chi-squared test. Results: Women were more significantly aware of the terms, 'TMD' (p<0.001) and 'jaw joint disease' (p<0.001) than men. Third graders were more significantly aware of the terms, 'TMD' (p<0.001) and 'jaw joint disease' (p<0.001) than any other graders. Third graders the most frequently chose to visit department of dentistry for the treatment of TMD among three graders (p<0.001). Women more frequently chose to visit department of dentistry for the treatment of TMD than men (p<0.001). Health field subjects were more significantly aware of the terms, 'TMD' (p<0.001) and 'jaw joint disease' (p<0.001) than non health field subjects. Having more frequently visited department of dentistry for the treatment of TMD than non health field subjects (p<0.001), health field subjects more frequently chose to visit department of dentistry for the treatment of TMD in the future (p<0.001). Conclusions: The level of awareness and knowledge of TMD was higher in women college students, health field subjects and third graders than men college students, non health field subjects and the rest of two graders, respectively. The higher the level of experience and education of the subject, the more aware the subject was of TMD. Therefore publicity activities and education through various routes are required to raise public awareness and knowledge of TMD. In addition, it is necessary to inform general public of the dentistry specialized for the accurate diagnosis and standardized treatment of TMD.
