  • Background: Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is one of the major complications of chronic hyperglycaemia affecting normal kidney functioning. The ayurvedic medicine curcumin (CUR) is pharmaceutically accepted for its vast biological effects. Objectives: The Curcuma-derived diferuloylmethane compound CUR, loaded on Poly (lactide-co-glycolic) acid (PLGA) nanoparticles was utilized to combat DN-induced renal apoptosis by selectively targeting and modulating Bcl2. Methods: Upon in silico molecular docking and screening study CUR was selected as the core phytocompound for nanoparticle formulation. PLGA-nano-encapsulated-curcumin (NCUR) were synthesized following standard solvent displacement method. The NCUR were characterized for shape, size and other physico-chemical properties by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) and Fourier-Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy studies. For in vivo validation of nephro-protective effects, Mus musculus were pre-treated with CUR at a dose of 50 mg/kg b.w. and NCUR at a dose of 25 mg/kg b.w. (dose 1), 12.5 mg/kg b.w (dose 2) followed by alloxan administration (100 mg/kg b.w) and serum glucose levels, histopathology and immunofluorescence study were conducted. Results: The in silico study revealed a strong affinity of CUR towards Bcl2 (dock score -10.94 Kcal/mol). The synthesized NCUR were of even shape, devoid of cracks and holes with mean size of ~80 nm having -7.53 mV zeta potential. Dose 1 efficiently improved serum glucose levels, tissue-specific expression of Bcl2 and reduced glomerular space and glomerular sclerosis in comparison to hyperglycaemic group. Conclusion: This study essentially validates the potential of NCUR to inhibit DN by reducing blood glucose level and mitigating glomerular apoptosis by selectively promoting Bcl2 protein expression in kidney tissue.

  • It is a widely known fact that MAC addresses can be collected using Wi-Fi from mobile phones that people carry. However, since collecting and using MAC addresses without individual consent entails many legal problems, it was difficult to actively utilize them. In order to prevent invasion of privacy information due to unintentional exposure of these MAC addresses in recent years, the method of protecting privacy information by exposing a randomly generated virtual MAC address rather than the MAC address of the actual device is applied to all mobile devices. is becoming By exposing a randomly generated virtual MAC address on a device, it becomes impossible to identify and track an individual using the MAC address. However, the fact that various facts can be estimated through MAC Address collection is still valid. By expanding the application of Random MAC Address, the possibility of invasion of privacy information has been completely removed from the MAC address that has been raised in the past, so that it can be used more actively than in the past. In this paper, we propose a method for automatically collecting and analyzing statistical information of hospital visitors using MAC addresses. The collection of hospital visitors using MAC Address is a low cost and relatively accurate method, and the analysis of hospital visitors through steady collection can provide very objective and scientific evidence for hospital operation.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of health behavioral factors such as general characteristics, lifestyle and disease characteristics on depression in patients with chronic diseases. To this end, among 7,359 people who participated in the 8th National Health and Nutrition Survey conducted from 2019 to 2020, chi-square test analysis between health behavior factors and depression for 1980 people aged 19 years or older with chronic diseases and no missing values in the basic survey items was performed. After that, binary logistic regression analysis was performed with the factors that were significant as independent variables. As a result of the analysis, depression was 1.49 times higher in women than men (CI: 1.086~2.044), and was 1.828 higher in smokers than in non-smokers (CI: 1.285~2.561). And the higher the income level, the lower the depression. In particular, the odds ratio was 28.034 (CI: 13.132~59.849) in 'not stressful' versus 'very stressed', which had the greatest effect when the intensity of stress was very high. And the influence of subjective health cognition and sleeping hours was also relatively high. This study is meaningful in that it identified the priority of health behavior factors that should be practiced to improve depression in patients with chronic diseases. And since the number of comorbidity was not significant in the occurrence of depression, it would be necessary to identify the extent to which each type of chronic disease affects depression and to suggest policy alternatives tailored to each patient group.

  • Purpose : Cancer survivors often suffer from postoperative sequelae. the diagnosing and provision of manual therapy using spiral taping significantly improves the quality of life of cancer patients. The aim of this case study is to investigate the immediate effects of spiral taping on pain, range of motion (ROM), chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN), and lymphedema following breast cancer surgery. Methods : The taping techniques were performed as follows by spiral taping. The measurements were taken before, in the middle, and after taping using a mobile phone camera, tape measure, and a numerical rating score (NRS). The evaluation employed a single-group pre-post design based on a primitive experimental design. Results : Out of four patients, all four exhibited Reverse circle flow energy (RCFE), Passive cervical right (Rt) rotation test, anterior-posterior movement pattern, nerve type (+), cold energy (CE), sangcho acupuncture point, blood clot, hwal point. Comparing before and after treatment, almost all values were reduced to zero after treatment in terms of pain complaints. The lack of range of motion (ROM) caused by the shortened tissue after surgery did not increase. The range of motion (ROM) lost due to pain returned to normal. The circumference of lymphedema did not show a tendency. The symptoms of CIPN improved. Conclusion : There was a significant change in joint range of motion, with pain decreasing, but there were structural limitations in the tissue due to total resection, and the chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy scale. It was effectively treated surgical site pain, axillary membrane syndrome-induced pain, and unexplained pain. While there was a treatment effect for lymphedema in the evaluation of circumference values, there was no significant change in circumference. There was a significant effect on chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, particularly in treating numbness in the feet, which is a side effect of TC anticancer drugs. This case study found that spiral balance taping provides a rapid therapeutic effect for most side effects in patients who have undergone total breast cancer resection. However, the generalization is limited due to the small sample size, and further research is needed to determine the extent to which the effects of one treatment are maintained.

  • This study derived an effective way to expose information on product reviews by analyzing how the accumulation of information on reviews of online shopping malls, which are receiving a lot of attention amid the rapid increase in non-face-to-face transactions with small and medium-sized venture companies with insufficient resources, affects product review ratings. Hypotheses were derived based on the main theory of behavioral economics and the theory of consumer expectation inconsistency, and for empirical research, the effect of the accumulation of information on product reviews were analyzed from a short and long-term perspective using Amazon's product reviews and seller information big data. For the empirical study, 9,092,480 reviews written for 378,411 products of Amazon were used, and the hypotheses were verified through hierarchical regression analysis. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the average rating decreased as the number of reviews increased. It was found that the product with a large number of recent reviews had a high rating. The characteristics of the product showed a moderating effect on these effects. This study will provide a new theoretical basis for research related to product review, and will help small and medium-sized venture companies that focus on sales through online shopping malls due to lack of resources to increase sales performance by appropriately utilizing review information. It will also provide empirical insights into effective product review information exposure measures for online shopping mall managers.

  • This study examines the impact of moving to an opportunity-rich area on an individual's wage income to identify the relationship between regional disparities in opportunities throughout a person's life cycle and life outcomes. Based on the Graduate Occupational Mobility Survey (GOMS) provided by the Korea Employment Information Service, individuals with similar life experience prior to regional mobility were selected and analyzed using the Propensity Score Matching (PSM) method. Specifically, the life cycle was classified into stages such as pre-high school, university entrance period, and employment period. Then, a path model was established to analyze regional mobility, education, employment, and wage income by life cycle stage. The analysis results indicate that the life cycle stage where regional mobility had the greatest impact on an individual's economic performance, that is, the stage where the impact of opportunity disparities was most unequal, was the university entrance period. Additionally, moving to an opportunity-rich area was a critical factor that cumulatively affected subsequent life. Hence, pre-high school mobility was also noteworthy as it induced life in the central area later on. Lastly, while parental income itself was influential, but when combined with regional mobility, it could act as a means of transferring wealth to the next generation. These results suggest that the state should strive to alleviate the regional imbalance around universities by fostering universities outside the capital region and reduce the possibility of the influence of parents' socio-economic background on regional mobility.
