The purpose of this study is to discuss the current status and limitations of convergence education in universities and to explore new possibilities of engineering convergence education by analyzing characteristics and cases of self - design semesters as convergence education. As a result of this study, it was found that the education for fostering convergence ability is insufficient for the viewpoint of education. The types of convergence education could be classified into three categories. However, the concept and paradigm of convergence education has not been established precisely because it is made in a 'top-down' manner by the government. In addition, there was a limit of the lack of a foundation to operate the convergence education. However, A university's self-design semester, it shows the possibility of cultivating the overall convergence ability by giving autonomy and subjectivity to learners and through the acquisition of contextual knowledge and the ability of collaboration.
The purpose of this study is to reinforce employment improvement of engineering college students and the industry-university collaboration of regional industries. In order to achieve the object of this study, we inquire and analyze the general requirements for engineering college students and specific requirements for each major of engineering college. In addition, we survey and analyze the industry-university collaboration programs and awareness of them. When regional companies hire new workers affiliated engineering students, they significantly consider executive ability related to their majors and self-confidence. The education and research area by each department and the status and the intention of industry-university cooperation are also investigated. Eventually, we propose the education plan to meet the industrial requirements and industry-university cooperation strategy.
With the advent of communication technologies including electronic collaborative tools and conferencing systems provided over the Internet, virtual collaboration is becoming increasingly common in organizations. Virtual collaboration refers to an environment in which the people working together are interdependent in their tasks, share responsibility for outcomes, are geographically dispersed, and rely on mediated rather than face-to face, communication to produce an outcome. Research suggests that new sets of individual skill, knowledge, and ability (SKAs) are required to perform effectively in today's virtualized workplace, which is labeled as individual virtual competence. It is also argued that use of online social networking sites may influence not only individuals' daily lives but also their capability to manage their work-related relationships in organizations, which in turn leads to better performance. The existing research regarding (1) the relationship between virtual competence and task performance and (2) the relationship between online networking and task performance has been conducted based on different theoretical perspectives so that little is known about how online social networking and virtual competence interplay to predict individuals' task performance. To fill this gap, this study raises the following research questions: (1) What is the individual virtual competence required for better adjustment to the virtual collaboration environment? (2) How does online networking via diverse social network service sites influence individuals' task performance in organizations? (3) How do the joint effects of individual virtual competence and online networking influence task performance? To address these research questions, we first draw on the prior literature and derive four dimensions of individual virtual competence that are related with an individual's self-concept, knowledge and ability. Computer self-efficacy is defined as the extent to which an individual beliefs in his or her ability to use computer technology broadly. Remotework self-efficacy is defined as the extent to which an individual beliefs in his or her ability to work and perform joint tasks with others in virtual settings. Virtual media skill is defined as the degree of confidence of individuals to function in their work role without face-to-face interactions. Virtual social skill is an individual's skill level in using technologies to communicate in virtual settings to their full potential. It should be noted that the concept of virtual social skill is different from the self-efficacy and captures an individual's cognition-based ability to build social relationships with others in virtual settings. Next, we discuss how online networking influences both individual virtual competence and task performance based on the social network theory and the social learning theory. We argue that online networking may enhance individuals' capability in expanding their social networks with low costs. We also argue that online networking may enable individuals to learn the necessary skills regarding how they use technological functions, communicate with others, and share information and make social relations using the technical functions provided by electronic media, consequently increasing individual virtual competence. To examine the relationships among online networking, virtual competence, and task performance, we developed research models (the mediation, interaction, and additive models, respectively) by integrating the social network theory and the social learning theory. Using data from 112 employees of a virtualized company, we tested the proposed research models. The results of analysis partly support the mediation model in that online social networking positively influences individuals' computer self-efficacy, virtual social skill, and virtual media skill, which are key predictors of individuals' task performance. Furthermore, the results of the analysis partly support the interaction model in that the level of remotework self-efficacy moderates the relationship between online social networking and task performance. The results paint a picture of people adjusting to virtual collaboration that constrains and enables their task performance. This study contributes to research and practice. First, we suggest a shift of research focus to the individual level when examining virtual phenomena and theorize that online social networking can enhance individual virtual competence in some aspects. Second, we replicate and advance the prior competence literature by linking each component of virtual competence and objective task performance. The results of this study provide useful insights into how human resource responsibilities assess employees' weakness and strength when they organize virtualized groups or projects. Furthermore, it provides managers with insights into the kinds of development or training programs that they can engage in with their employees to advance their ability to undertake virtual work.
The purpose of this study is to explore the core competencies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the major newspaper articles of social network analysis and to examine the core competencies required by each field and target. To do this, we reviewed prior research focusing on core competency concepts and core competencies of engineering students, and analyzed 227 articles related to core competencies of the 4th Industrial Revolution, focusing on five major newspapers. Through analysis, we analyzed social network with 118 refined core competency keywords. As a result of the research, it was found that core competencies of the 4th Industrial Revolution are the degree centrality in terms 'creativity', 'problem solving ability', 'convergence ability', 'collaboration ability', 'conductivity', 'software ability', 'human literacy', 'personality' order. Also, as a result of the analysis of the ego centric network by field and target, the required core competencies of university and industry were found to be different. Through these discussions, it is necessary to restructure the core competence of engineering students in order to nurture the engineering talents necessary for the 4th Industrial Revolution.

This research has an intention of developing a professional development program. We proposed an alternative mathematics teacher training model based on the situated learning theory, community of practice, and reflective practitioner. The developed mathematics teacher professional development program recruited participation unit that was consisted of 3 or 4 teachers in same school and total of 28 teachers from 9 schools. Also, there were 18 mentors to support each school. In this sense, it can be called multi-tired teacher community professional development program. Through the program, the teachers improve their teaching competency. Also, the operation ability of teacher learning community was improved. Learning community culture has been formed in each school. It shows ability that the explorative learning community can be operated voluntarily although the program finished. Furthermore, community shared corporate responsibility about open class. They recognize open class as a new method to improve community teaching ability than a tool to evaluate individual teaching ability.
This descriptive research is to find communication ability, general and social self-efficacy, and academic achievement in peer collaboration subject of nursing freshmen. The data were analyzed by SPSS/WIN 19.0. The communication ability was higher in the extroverts and high discussion preference ones(p=.01), females' social self-efficacy were higher than males'(p=.03), the general and social self-efficacy of the 'introverted' and 'middle' groups were higher than the extroverts'(p=.01). The social self-efficacy on the 'middle high', 'middle' and 'middle low' of self-evaluated school grades groups were higher than 'high' one's, even the academic achievement of 'high' group was the most(p=.01). There were negative correlations between communication ability and self-efficacy, and between social self-efficacy and academic achievement. And social self-efficacy affected on the academic achievement in peer collaboration subject($R^2=0.058$, p<.05). These results can be used as a basis for developing guidelines of nursing freshmen who have to complete a lot of theoretical and practical courses in university.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of critical friends on self-esteem and the academic oral presentation ability of undergraduate students. A pretest was conducted in the first week of the semester. A pre-academic oral presentation preparation was held from the second week to the seventh week and followed by pedagogical speech activities from the eighth week to the eleventh week. The research instruments are Academic oral presentation behavior and self-esteem evaluation forms. The samples were 37 third year undergraduate students, who were purposively selected from the educational technology class at the Chulalongkorn University. The statistics used for analyzing quantitative data are frequencies, means, standard deviations, one sample t-tests, and Pearson's Product-Moment Correlations. It was found that the 37 third year undergraduate teacher students had higher self-esteem at the statistically significant level of .05 and academic oral presentation scores after the activity were statistically significant at the .05 level.
The influence of peer collaboration on children's analogical abilities was studied with 120 9-year-old participants. After the pre-test, which determined the analogical level of the children, each child was assigned to 1 of 4 different learning conditions: cued/non-cued peer collaborative learning, or cued/non-cued individual learning conditions. The post-test showed changes in their analogical abilities. That is, results showed that cued peer collaborative learned improved the analogical abilities of the children, but the pattern of improvement was different by prior level of analogical abilities. We explained improvement in analogical ability by the context effect of peer collaborative learning and by the interactive effect of context with basic cognitive abilities of the children. We suggested implications of the present results for educational practice.
The current status of in-service teacher development shows that teachers' awareness can be enhanced through critical reflection. This study shows how an English teacher improved her own teaching situation through action research. It reports back the action research the teacher-researcher carried out in the EFL classroom setting. Aiming to improve the pupils' English speaking ability, the teacher introduced 'Task-based Language Teaching (TBLT)' to the English class. The teacher and the pupils took part in the evaluation process of learning and teaching. It was found that the new approach to teaching speaking helped the pupils improve speaking ability and take an active role in learning process. It is further suggested that teacher-initiated action research can be done in collaboration with colleagues, administrators and researchers.
