The surface diffusion coefficients for nickel, nickel oxide, cuppric oxide, cobalt oxide, alumina and ferric oxide have been determined at various temperatures using the sintering technique. This investigation is based on the model accounting for the sum of the contribution of volume and surface diffusion to the overall shrinkage rate during the initial stage of sintering. Simultaneous measurements of shrinkages and shrinkage rates of the materials compacts were conducted for various annealing times, the results of which were then correlated to the diffusion coefficient.

When Newton's method, or Halley's method is used to approximate the pth root of 1-z, a sequence of rational functions is obtained. In this paper, a beautiful formula for these rational functions is proved in the square root case, using an interesting link to Chebyshev's polynomials. It allows the determination of the sign of the coefficients of the power series expansion of these rational functions. This answers positively the square root case of a proposed conjecture by Guo(2010).

For a positive integer N divisible by 4, let ${\mathcal{O}}^1_N({\mathbb{Q}})$ be the ring of weakly holomorphic modular functions for the congruence subgroup ${\Gamma}^1(N)$ with rational Fourier coefficients. We present explicit generators of the ring ${\mathcal{O}}^1_N({\mathbb{Q}})$ over ${\mathbb{Q}}$ in terms of both Fricke functions and Siegel functions, from which we are able to classify all Fricke families of such level N.

In this paper the observer design problem in bilinear systems is studied using the Walsh functions as approximating set of functions to find a finite series expansion of the state of bilinear system. A classical Liapnove method, to finding a class of observer feedback matrix, is applied to ensure uniform asymptotic stability of the observation error dynamics. An algorithm is derived for observer state eq. via Walsh function. The basic objective is to develop a computational algorithm for the determination of the coefficients in the expansion. This approach technique gives satisfactory result as well provides precise and effective method for the bilinear observer design problem.

The choice of design parameters for a robot arm depends on the desired workspace, load lifting capacity, application requirements, and the performance of the robot. The inverse process, which is the determination of a single robot's workspace for a given specification is also a common practice and is as important to the designers as it is to the users. Based on the geometric influence coefficients, the workspace areas on the vertical Y-Z plane are investigated and calculated. Using these areas, the effects of link parameters, link length ratios and joint rotation angles, are investigated.

Various useful relations involving Hammett's and $Br{\phi}nsted's$ coefficients are derived for cross interactions between identical groups: ${\rho}_{ii}={\rho}^N+{\rho}^L$, ${\rho}^L-{\rho}^N=1$, ${\beta}_{ii}={\beta}_N+{\beta}_L$ and ${\beta}_N-{\beta}_L=1$. The use of these relations enable us to correctly interprete the transition state structure. Another advantage of the use of these relations is to use ${\rho}/{\rho}_e$ for the determination of corresponding ${\beta}$ values instead of plotting log k vs $pK_{lg}$, once ${\rho}_e$ values for standardizing equilibria are obtained.

This paper is a study on the word recognition using neural network. A limited vocabulary, speaker independent, isolated word recognition system has been built. This system recognizes isolated word without performing segmentation, phoneme identification, or dynamic time wrapping. It needs a static pattern approach to recognize a spatio-temporal pattern. The preprocessing only includes preceding and tailing silence removal, and word length determination. A LPC analysis is performed on each of 24 equally spaced frames. The PARCOR coefficients plus 3 other features from each frame is extracted. In order to simplify a structure of neural network, we composed binary code form to decrease output nodes.

Base-line wandering and 60Hz noise in ECG are removed by linear phase FIR filter. The important problem in FIR filtering is to reduce the number of impulse response coefficients. It can be reduced by symmetrical impulse response. The ripple is improved by window function .omega.(n). And the determination of filter accuracy is proposed by PRD(percent rms difference) algorithm.

The procedure of finding operating conditions minimizing qualify loss is proposed with a real industry example. The procedure consists or major two parts - the selection or process variables critical to the response and He determination or operating conditions. The coefficients or ridge regression and the and stores or partial least squares are applied to select important process variables. Functional approach and Non-functional approach are used to find proper operating conditions of important process variables.

BACKGROUND: This study was performed to develop a single residue analytical method for new herbicide metazosulfuron in crops. METHODS AND RESULTS: Brown rice, apple, mandarin, Kimchi cabbage and soybean were selected as representative crops, and clean-up system, partition solvent and extraction solvent were optimized. Instrumental limit of quantitation (ILOQ), linearity of calibration curve and method limit of quantitation (MLOQ) were determined based on the chromatography and whole procedures. For recovery tests, brown rice, apple, mandarin, Kimchi cabbage and soybean samples were macerated and fortified with metazosulfuron standard solution at three levels (MLOQ, 10 MLOQ and 100 MLOQ). And then those were extracted with acetonitrile, concentrated, and partitioned with ethyl acetate. Then the extracts were concentrated again and cleaned-up through $NH_2$ (aminopropyl) SPE cartridge with acetone : dichloromethane (1% acetic acid) (20 : 80, v/v) before concentration and analysis with HPLC. CONCLUSION(S): ILOQ of metazosulfuron was 2 ng (S/N${\geq}$10) and good linearity was achieved between 0.05 and 12.5 mg/Kg of metazosulfuron standard solutions, with coefficients of determination of 0.9999. MLOQ was 0.02 mg/Kg. Good recoveries from 74.1 to 116.9% with coefficients of variation (C.V.) of less than 10% were obtained, regardless of sample type, which satisfies the criteria of Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA). Those results were reconfirmed with LC-MS (SIM). The method established in this study is simple, economic and efficient to be applied to most of crops as an official and general method for residue analysis of metazosulfuron.
