마이크로 그라비어 코터를 이용한 박막 형성 기술 (Technology of thin Film Formation by Using the Micro Gravure Coater)

  • We report here on the processing and manufacturing of thin film for printed electronics by micro-gravure coating system. The micro-gravure coating systems are consisted of various modules such as web and system tension controller, micro-gravure coating units, dispenser and hybrid dry units (UV, NIR, Hot air). Especially, for the optimization of system, the number of idle roller was minimized and tension isolating infeeder was included. Also, we applied four patterns circle, 45 degree, square and 35 degree for the optimizing coating thickness. The micro-gravure coating system which applied various patterns to enable continuous coating process and fast coating time compare with conventional batch coating system. In this paper, introduce of micro-gravure coating system and testing results of coating thickness (20~700nm), coating time (1~2sec) and surface roughness (3~12nm) by using micro-gravure coating system.

  • A new air knife system for coating thickness control in hot dip galvanizing process had been developed and installed on the CGL in Pohang Steel Works, POSCO. This new system consists of air knives with remotely adjustable nozzle slot and an automatic control system which can control both longitudinal and traverse coating deviations. Based on the optimal control algorithm, a traverse coating deviation control was designed. The controller controls the lip profile of the air knives with flexible structure according to the deviation of coating weight. From the measured values which are dependent on the strip width, the lip gaps are calculated with optimal algorithm and the model of the coating deviation. Time delay between knives and a coating thickness gauge is solved by the Smith Predictor.

유연성 높은 캔틸레버 제작을 위한 스프레이 코팅 방법 연구 (Study of Manual Spray Coating Method for Fabricating Flexible Cantilever)

  • This work presents a detailed study of several parameters on the spray coating method for fabricating a flexible cantilever. Conventionally, spin coating method have been widely used in the microelectromechanical system (MEMS) fabrication process. However, the major drawback of this method is the difficulties in protecting various topography with photoresist film, particularly when the device is manufactured in high aspect ratio. It is also a challenging process to form a small pattern in the etched area. On the other hand, the commercial spray coating systems are not advantageous from an economic perspective and the technique is also providing less efficient. In order to solve these issues, we have developed a manual spray coating system which can be efficiently used by combining the accessories available in the laboratory. The developed spray coating system consists of a spin-coater, motorized stage, a spray gun with the capable of controlling centrifugal force, injection amount, injection angle, and spray range. The major advantage of the proposed spray coating system is its reasonable fabrication cost. Secondly, the system can be easily disassembled after finishing the coating experiment. Owing to the mentioned advantages, we sincerely believe that the proposed spray coating system can be effectively used in many related applications.

  • 대형 진공증착기내에 대형 피코팅물 고정대를 방사형으로 배치고 대용량의 피코팅물이 균일하게 코팅되도록 공전과 자전을 병행하도록 하여, 1회 진공으로 피코팅물의 양면을 동시에 코팅하므로 증착시간을 절약하고 전력소비를 줄일 수 있으며 대기중 이물질에 의한 오염방지를 할 수 있었다. 내부에 이중 전자빔을 설치하여 자동 다층막 증착이 가능하며, 유효증착면적을 크게 할 수 있었다. 이런 장치를 이용하여 증착 시간의 30% 단축, 작업 생산성 50% 향상과 아울러 증착막의 전도막 특성도 향상되었으며 증착막의 균일도도 향상되었다. 증착막의 광학적 특성인 반사방지 투과율 특성도 향상되었다.

광섬유 대량생산시스템 이중 액상코팅공정의 점성소산 및 공정인자 영향성 해석연구 (Parametric Investigation on Double Layer Liquid Coating Process with Viscous Dissipation in Optical Fiber Mass Manufacturing System)

  • The present investigation on optical fiber mass manufacturing features the computational modeling and simulation on a double layer liquid coating process on glass fiber surface. The computational model employs a simplified geometry of typical fiber coating system which consists of primary and secondary coating dies along with secondary coating cup. The viscous dissipation in coating flow is incorporated into the double layer coating process simulations. Heavy temperature dependence of coating liquid viscosity is also considered in the model. The computational results found that the effects of viscous dissipation on both primary and secondary coating layer thicknesses are highly significant at higher drawing speed. Several important coating process parameters such as supply temperature and pressure of primary and secondary coating liquids are investigated and discussed in order to appreciate how those parameters affect the double layer coating layer thickness on fast moving glass fiber.

Evaluation of Corrosion Protection for Epoxy and Urethane Coating by EIS under Various Cyclic Corrosion Tests

  • Protective coatings play an important role in the protection of metallic structures against corrosive environment. The main function of anticorrosive coating is to prevent the materials from corrosive agents, such as water, oxygen and ions. In the study, the corrosion protection properties of urethane and epoxy coating systems were evaluated using EIS methods exposed to the corrosion acceleration test such as Norsok M501, Prohesion and hygrothermal cyclic test. AFM analysis of the coating systems was carried out to monitor the change of roughness of coatings. Urethane coating system was more stable than the epoxy coating under given cyclic conditions. Water uptake into the urethane coatings was less than that into the epoxy coating. The urethane coating system showed better corrosion protection than epoxy coating system based on the changes of the impedance modulus at low frequency region with exposure time. Consequently, the corrosion protection properties of the epoxy and urethane coatings was well correspond with their surface roughness changes and water uptakes.

경년변화에 따른 내화도료의 내화성능에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Fire Resistance Performance of Intumescent Coating System with Time Elapse)

  • Applying fire resistive coating to steel members is one of the general methods to secure fire resistance performance of steel members. And intumescent coating system is currently one of methods giving fire resistance to steel members. Intumescent coating system for fire resistance, however, has undesirable weaknesses that fire resistance performance of steel members is being deteriorated due to cracks and falling-offs of the coverings as time goes after completion of the coverings to the members. This study is designed to understand changes in fire resistance performance of intumescent coating system through follow-up tests on temperature of unexposed surface for the domestic intumescent coating system.

Development and Application of Coating Weight Control Technology

  • Precise coating weight control is very important issue on quality and minimizing operating costs on continuous galvanizing line. These days, many steel making companies are having a new understanding of cost importance by rise raw material prices and customer's requirement for cost reduction. Dongbu steel also meets these situations and decided to develop the technologies. Dongbu Steel developed Integrated coating weight control system jointly with Objective Control Ltd. and installed 2CGL and 4CGL. Several technological functions were developed and realized to achieve true hands-off operation and maximum cost benefit by combining model-based preset and dynamic prediction models. We also installed it on 1 CGL on April, 2008. This paper will present the interface, functions and application result of the integrated coating weight control system including Zn saving and coating weight uniformity.

  • Process conditions for generating nano patterns handle different process according to the pattern characteristics, and different process data according to patterns in questions. To efficiently find optimal process conditions for generating nano patterns, process data by experiment is needed consideration of the pattern characteristics concerning the equipment. In particular, coating methods of a cylindrical mold differ from it of a flat plate because of viscosity of coating materials. Also the coating thickness affects nano process and pattern line width. So coating method of coating thickness for cylindrical mold is very important on nano pattern generating. In this study, a method is proposed for coating Photo Resist through the spray in order to coat cylindrical mold and measuring the thickness of coating using measuring tip considering the size of cylindrical mold because there is no method in the existing SEM. The proposed method is applied to a real printed electronics system to verify its accuracy and efficiency.

광학적 모니터링 장비를 이용한 안경렌즈의 무반사 코팅 (Anti-reflection Coating using Optical Monitoring System)

  • 목적: 광학적 모니터링 장비를 이용한 안경렌즈의 무반사 코팅의 신뢰성과 재현성을 연구하였다. 방법: 광학적 모니터링 장비를 이용한 무반사 코팅의 수행 가능성을 확인하기 위해서 Essential Macleod 프로그램을 이용하여 RunSheet 실행과 랜덤 에러 전산시늉을 실시하였다. 전산 시늉 후에 AR coating의 재현성 확인을 위해서 19 배치의 코팅 프로세스를 실시하였다. 결과: 19 배치의 코팅 프로세스 반사율 결과는 약 0.5%의 에러 내에서의 좋은 재현성을 보였다. 결론: 결과들로부터 우리는 광학적 모니터링 법을 이용한 무반사 코팅의 가능성과 우수한 재현성을 확인하였다.
