저온 분사 공정으로 제조된 티타늄 코팅층의 치밀화에 미치는 열처리 분위기의 영향 (Effect of Heat Treatment Environment on the Densification of Cold Sprayed Ti Coating Layer)

  • This study investigated the effects of annealing environment for the densification and purification properties of pure titanium coating layer manufactured by cold spraying. The annealing was conducted at $600^{\circ}C$/1 h and three kinds of environments of vacuum, Ar gas, and $5%H_2+Ar$ mixture gas were controlled. Cold sprayed Ti coating layer (as sprayed) represented 6.7% of porosity and 228 HV of hardness, showing elongated particle shapes (severe plastic deformation) perpendicular to injection direction. Regardless of gas environments, all thermally heat treated coating layers consisted of pure ${\alpha}$-Ti and minimal oxide. Vacuum environment during heat treatment represented superior densification properties (3.8% porosity, 156.7 HV) to those of Ar gas (5.3%, 144.5 HV) and $5%H_2+Ar$ mixture gas (5.5%, 153.1 HV). From the results of phase analysis (XRD, EPMA, SEM, EDS), it was found that the vacuum environment during heat treatment could be effective for reducing oxide contents (purification) in the Ti coating layer. The characteristic of microstructural evolution with heat treatment was found to be different at three different gas environments. The controlling method for improving densification and purification in the cold sprayed Ti coating material was also discussed.

DLC 코팅한 Fe-3.0%Ni-0.7%Cr-1.4%Mn-X강의 표면특성평가 (Characterization of DLC Coated Surface of Fe-3.0%Ni-0.7%Cr-1.4%Mn-X Steel)

  • The various surface treated conditions of Fe-3.0%Ni-0.7%Cr-1.4%Mn-X steel such as as-received, ion nitriding, DLC coated, DLC coated after nitriding for 3 hrs and 6 hrs were investigated to evaluate the beneficial effect for plastic mold steel. Micro Vickers hardness tester was used to estimate nitriding depth from the hardness profile and to measure hardness on the surface. Elastic modulus and residual stress were measured by a nanoindentator. Scratch test and SP (small ball punch test) were utilized to assess the adhesive strength of DLC coating. The depth of nitriding layer was measured as $50{\mu}m$ for the condition of 3 hrs nitriding and $90{\mu}m$ for that of 6 hrs nitriding. Hardness, elastic modulus, residual stress of DLC coating were 20.37 GPa, 162.78 GPa and -1456 MPa respectively. Residual stress on the surface of DLC coating after nitriding could increase to -3914 MPa by introducing nitriding before DLC coating. During the 'Ball-On-Disc' test ${\gamma}^{\prime}$ particles pulled out from the surface of nitrized layer tend to enhance abrasive wear mode since the fraction of ${\gamma}^{\prime}$ (Fe4N) in ion-nitrized layer is known to increases with nitriding time. Thus the specific wear rate of the nitriding layer increased. Comparing with nitriding the specific wear rate in work piece disc as well as ball decreased prominently in DLC coating due to the remarkable reduction in friction coefficient.

  • Recently the use of web offset printing has been increasing, which can provide high print speed, mass production, and high print quality. However, high speed web offset printing has frequently undergone a blistering problem when the printed paper passes through hot air dryers. Blistering occurs in the middle of the base paper or in the coating layer. This paper focused on the blistering occurring in the base paper. In order to elucidate the effect of pigment ratio on blistering, 6 types of coating color were prepared with varying GCC/clay ratios and printability and blistering were investigated focusing on structure changes in the coating layer. When the clay content in the coating layer was increased, surface roughness and surface strength were decreased and paper gloss was increased. In addition, it was found that the coating layer structure with high clay content, which contains lots of discontinuous pores, hindered water vapors to penetrate out and, as a result, blistering occurred.

  • Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)의 중공사막 표면에 2번 딥코팅하여 layer-by-layer 방식으로 나노복합막을 제조하였다. 1차 코팅에서 poly(vinylsulfonic acid)(PVSA)와 Poly(styrene sulfonic acid)(PSSA)의 농도, 이온세기(Ionic strength, IS) 등을 변화시키며 막을 제조하였으며, 2차 코팅 용액으로는 Poly(ethyleneimine) 10,000 ppm I.S = 0.3으로 고정하였다. 막의 특성평가를 위해 각각의 100 ppm NaCl, $CaSO_4$, $MgCl_2$, 그리고 25 ppm Methyl Orange (MO) 공급액에 대한 막의 투과도와 염배제율을 측정하였다. 코팅용액의 코팅 물질의 농도가 올라갈수록 염배제율이 상승하였으며, 본 실험 조건에서 PVSA보다는 PSSA를 이용하여 제조한 중공사막이 염배제율이 높은 것을 확인하였다. 대표적으로 PSSA 30,000 ppm I.S = 1.0에서 중 공사막을 제조하였을 때 25 ppm MO용액의 투과도 1.848 LMH, 염배제율 76.3%로 가장 높은 값을 나타내었다.

  • The implanting of metal products is performed with numerous surface treatments because of toxicity and adhesion. Recently, the surface modification of metal products has been actively studied by coating the surface of the TiC or TiN film. We prepared a Ti(10%)Ag Target which may be used in dental oral material by, using the AIP(arc ion plating) system TiAgN coating layer that was deposited on Ti g.23. The purpose of this study was to establish the optimal bias voltage conditions of the coated TiAgN layer formed by the AIP process. The TiAgN coatings were prepared with different bias voltage parameters (0V to -500V) to investigate the effect of bias voltage on their mechanical and chemical properties. The SEM(scanning electron microscope), EDS(energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer), XRD(X-ray diffraction), micro-hardness, and potentiodynamic polarization were measured and the surface characteristics of the TiAgN coating layers were evaluated. The TiAgN coating layer had different mechanical characteristics based on the bias voltage, which also showed differences in thickness and composition.

  • In this study, we have fabricated pure titanium (Ti)/hydroxyapatite (HA) double layer coating on medical grade PEEK from magnetron sputtering system, an investigation was performed whether the surface can be had more improve bio-active for orthopedi/dental applications than that of non-coated one. Pure Ti and HA coating layer were obtained by a radio-frequency and direct current power magnetron sputtering system. The microstructures surface, mechanical properties and wettability of the pure Ti/HA double layer deposited on the PEEK were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), nano-indentation, and contact angle test. According to the EDS and XRD results, the composition and crystal structure of pure Ti and HA coated surface were verified. The elastic modulus and hardness value were increased by pure Ti and HA coating, and the pure Ti/HA double layer coating surface has the highest value. The contact angle showed higher value for pure Ti/HA double layered coating specimens than that of non-coated (PEEK) surface.

플라즈마 용사 BSCCO(Bismuth Strontium Calcium Copper Oxide) 초전도 피막의 접합 특성 (Joining Characteristics of Plasma Sprayed BSCCO Superconducting Coatings)

  • We performed plasma spraying for 2001 (Bi:Cu = 2:1), 0212 (Sr:Ca:Cu = 2:1:2) oxide powders. $Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2Ox$ (2212) superconductor has been prepared by PMP-AT (partial melting process-annealing treatment). The 2212 phase is synthesized between Sr-Ca-Cu oxide coating layer (0212) and Bi-Cu oxide coating layer (2001) by movement of partial melted Bi on 2001 layer and the diffusion reaction (Cu, Sr, Ca) after PMP-AT. There are two different coating layers on joining process. The one is ABAB coating layers and the other is BAAB coating layers by arrangement of 2001 (A), 0212 (B) layers. We performed heat treatment these two different coating layers processes under same PMP-AT conditions. We obtained Bi-2212 superconducting layers at each experimental condition, and the result of MPMS, the critical temperature was showed about 78 K. But the microstructure images and result of EDS as each experimental variable were showed about the qualitatively different Bi-2212 superconducting phases. We also deduced the generation mechanism of Bi-2212 superconducting layer as a result of these experimental data, microstruc ture images, EDS data and phase diagram.

Atmospheric plasma spray 공정으로 제조된 Y2O3 코팅층의 미세조직 및 기계적 특성에 미치는 분사 각도의 영향 (Effect of Spray Angle the on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Y2O3 Coating Layer Manufactured by Atmospheric Plasma Spray Process)

  • The effects of different spray angles (90°, 85°, 80°) on the microstructure and mechanical properties of a Y2O3 coating layer prepared using the atmospheric plasma spray (APS) process were studied. The powders employed in this study had a spherical shape and included a cubic Y2O3 phase. The APS coating layer exhibited the same phase as the powders. Thickness values of the coating layers were 90°: 203.7 ± 8.5 ㎛, 85°: 196.4 ± 9.6 ㎛, and 80°: 208.8 ± 10.2 ㎛, and it was confirmed that the effect of the spray angle on the thickness was insignificant. The porosities were measured as 90°: 3.9 ± 0.85%, 85°: 11.4 ± 2.3%, and 80°: 12.7 ± 0.5%, and the surface roughness values were 90°: 5.9 ± 0.3 ㎛, 85°: 8.5 ± 1.1 ㎛, and 80°: 8.5 ± 0.4 ㎛. As the spray angle decreased, the porosity increased, but the surface roughness did not show a significant difference. Vickers hardness measurements revealed values of 90°: 369.2 ± 22.3, 85°: 315.8 ± 31.4, and 80°: 267.1 ± 45.1 HV. It was found that under the condition of a 90° angle with the lowest porosity exhibited the best hardness value. Based on the aforementioned results, an improved method for the APS Y2O3 coating layer was also discussed.

저압용 역삼투압 중공사형막 제조시 코팅층의 결합력 향상을 위한 연구 (A study on enhancing the bond strength of coating layer with support in preparation of low-pressure RO hollow fiber membranes)

  • 본 연구에서 상업용 폴리설폰 한외여과 중공사막을 지지체로 사용하여 저압 정수용 역삼투압막 제조시 막표면에서 feed의 큰 전단응력에 견딜 수 있도록 도포층과 지지층의 결합력을 증가시키는 전처리 방법을 확립하였다. 확립한 전처리 공정에서 지지막과 친화력이 좋으면서 도포층을 이루는 반응물과 반응성이 있는 글루탈알데히드와 촉매역할을 하는 염산 혼합 수용액으로 지지막을 전처리하면 이들 글루탈알데히드는 지지막 표면 및 기공 벽에 균일하게 분포되어 이후 표면중합법에 의해 형성된 도포층을 이루는 일부 반응물과 화학적으로 결합 되어 지지체와 도포층간에 강한 결합력을 제공한다. 전처리공정 없이 제조한 중공사 역삼투압막은 투과 후 5시간 이내에 feed의 큰 전단응력에 의해 도포층의 분리 파괴가 일어났으나 본 연구에서 확립한 방법으로 전처리하여 제조한 중공사막은 장시간 사용에도 우수한 막성능이 지속되었다.

APS법으로 제조된 열장벽 피막과 PAS법으로 제조된 열장벽 성형체의 고온 물성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the high Temperature Properties of the Graded Thermal Barrier Coatings by APS and PAS)

  • Thermal Barrier Coating with Functional Gradient Materials (FGM-TBC) can play an important role to protect the parts from harmful environments in high temperatures such as oxidation, corrosion, and wear and to improve the efficiency of aircraft engine by lowering the surface temperature on turbine blade. FGM-TBC can increase the life spans of product and improve the operating properties. Therfore, in this study the evaluations of mechanical and thermal properties of FGM-TBC such as fatigue, oxidation and wear-resistance at high temperatures have been conducted. The samples of both the TBC with 2, 3, 5 layers (YSZ/NiCrAlY) to be produced by Air Plasma Spray method (APS) and the bulk TBC with 6 layers to be produced by Plasma Assisted Sintering method (PAS) were used. Furthermore, residual stress, bond strength, and thermal conductivity were evaluated. The average thickness of the APS was 500$\mu\textrm{m}$ to 600$\mu\textrm{m}$ and the average thickness of the PAS was 3mm. The hardness number of the top layer of APS was 750 Hv to 810Hv and that of PAS was 950 Hv to 1440Hv. The $ZrO_2$ coating layer of APS was composed of tetragonal structure after spraying as the result of XRD analysis. As shown in the results of the high temperature wear test, the 3 layer coating of APS had the best wear resistance at $800^{\circ}C$ and the 5 layer coating of APS had the best wear resistance at $600^{\circ}C$. But, these coatings had the tendency of the low-temperature softening at $300^{\circ}C$. The main mechanism of wear was the adhesive wear and the friction coefficient of coatings was increased as increasing the test temperatures. A s results of thermal conductivity test, the ${\Delta}T$ of the APS coating was increased as number of layer and the range of thermal conductivity of the PAS was $800^{\circ}C$ to $1000^{\circ}C$.
