Pacific herring Clupea pallasii eggs were attached to the gill net in Korean coastal waters off Busan. To conservation and management the eggs attached to the gill net, we followed the natural hatching in coastal waters from five days after fertilization to the hatching finished, where the temperature was $9^{\circ}C$. The diameter of fertilized eggs was 1.24-1.55 mm (n= 50), and had a segmented pale yellow yolk, no oil globule. Natural hatching had started by 10 days after fertilization. Mass hatching occurred around 11-12 days after fertilization, most of eggs separated from the gill net. Therefore, when the Pacific herring eggs attached in gill net, should be natural hatching-induced in coastal waters during 12-14 days.

The radiance observed from the ocean depends on the illumination and viewing geometry along with the water properties, and this variation is called the bidirectional effect which is important to be considered in ocean color remote sensing. In the present study, as a preliminary step, the spectral-angular radiances in coastal water were investigated with experiments for a range of viewing geometric conditions $(0-70^{\circ})$. Over a phytoplankton-dominated water surface the upward radiance for visible and near-infrared wavelengths (example, SeaWiFS and GOCI) increased at nadir and decreased toward the near-horizon, becoming dependent of viewing angles (with higher radiance at nadir view angle and lower radiance at near-horizon viewing angle). This variations were better expressed by the Q-factor, which relates upwelling radiance to the upwelling irradiance (i.e., $Q=E_u/L_u$, also dependent on Sun's position). The Q-factor for this case was more non-uniform with the considered wavelengths and was dependent on viewing geometric conditions. These experimental results confirm the previous similar findings in other coastal waters.

최근에 들어 우리나라는 공업의 급속한 발달과 도시로의 인구집중 및 농약의 남용등으로 하천 및 연안오염이 크게 우려되고 있다. 특히 중금속은 지속성이 커서 일단 자연에 버려지면 바다로 들어가고, 또한 먹이사슬을 통해 생물농축 (Bioaccumulation)되어 결국에는 인간에게 돌아오기 때문에 연안의 중금속 오염현황 조사와 오염방지대책수립은 시급한 업무라 하겠다. 따라서 본 연구실에서는 우리나라의 연안오염 현황파악과 앞으로의 보다 조직적이고 체계적인 조사계획수립을 위해, 1977년 여름철에 주요연안인 묵호 삼척, 울산, 여수 광양, 목포, 군산, 인천해역 해수의 일반수질지수, 영양염류 그리고 중금속(Cd, Cu, Fe, Pb, Zn)의 농도를 조사하였다. 이중에 일반수질지수와 영양염류의 농도조사결과는 전보(이광우외, 1978) 에 발표하였고, 본보에는 중금속의 조사결과를 보고한다.

Harmful micro algae isolated from Korean coastal waters, were tested with FITC-conjugated lectins and observed by epifluorescent microscopy to distinguish each other. Strain-specific sugar composition at the cell surface was suggested by the affinity of lectins to different microalgae. The micro algae Cochlodinium polykrikoides (CP-1) and Gymnodinium $A_3\;(GA_{3-1}\;1)$, are morphologically similar, but exhibited different binding activity with the lectins ECA, HPA and WGA. In Peridiniales, the micro alga Alexandrium tamarense (AT) bound HPA and WGA, but Scrippsiella trochoidea (ST-1) did not bind those lectins. Three species of Prorocentrum also exhibited different binding specificity with HPA, PHA and SBA. A non­toxic Korean isolate of Heterosigma akashiwo (HA-2) bound ConA, PEA and UEA. These results suggest that lectins are useful in discriminating morphologically similar species, as well as different species or strains within the same genus.

백령도 용기포항 연안해역에서 2004년 6월에 채취한 총 90개 퇴적물을 분석하여 추정된 정보를 기준격자정보로 하여, 내삽기법과 퇴적물 추출 밀도변화에 따른 추정 퇴적물 입도분포 정보(중앙입경(D50) 등)의 변화를 분석하였다. 격자정보 추출방법에 의한 절대편차의 표준편차는 자료수가 많은 6월에는 $8.0 {\mu}m$ 정도, 적은 경우인 11월은 $10{\mu}m$ 이상으로 분석되었다. 표본추출밀도에 따른 격자내용과 기준격자정보를 비교하여 추정한 절대편차의 통계정보는, 표본의 수가 감소할수록 절대편차의 평균오차는 증가하는 경향을 보인다. 연구사업에서 요구되는 퇴적물 정보의 정확도(절대편차 평균기준) 수준이 10% 이하인 경우에는 50개정도의 표본이 적당한 수준으로 파악되었다. 이 경우의 표본추출밀도는 용기포항 연안해역 격자정보 전환 면적(5.9 $km^2$)을 기준으로 50개 정도를 적용하는 경우, $km^2$당 9개 정도이다.

미래 연안 생태환경변화 예측을 위한 기후변화에 따른 수온변화 예측이 필요하며, 연안 수온변화는 GCM 자료에서 제공하는 미래 기온변화 예측자료를 국지적인 기온자료로 Downscaling 기법을 적용하여 사용할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 선형회귀분석기법을 이용하여 2000년${\sim}$2005년 우리나라 평균기온자료를 연안해역의 국지적인 기온자료로 Downscaling 하는 방법을 제안하고, 제안한 방법의 검증을 수행하였다. Downscaling 방법의 보정과정에서의 RMS오차 평균은 1.584정도이며, 2006년${\sim}$2007년 자료를 이용한 검정과정에서의 RMS 오차 평균은 1.675, 1.448 정도로 추정오차는 보정과정에서의 오차수준을 유지하고 있는 것으로 파악되었다. 또한, NSC 값도 보정과정에서는 0.962, 2006년${\sim}$2007년 자료를 이용한 검정과정에서는 0.955, 0.963으로 보정과정에서의 일치수준을 유지하고 있는 것으로 파악되어 선형회귀분석 기법을 이용한 우리나라 연안의 국지적인 기온은 RMS 오차 $1.0{\sim}2.0^{\circ}C$ 수준으로 전국 평균기온을 이용하여 추정할 수 있다.
