Using the Monte Carlo simulation, a study on the lion-proportionality of the prototype phoswich detector with $2'{\times}2'$ CSI(Tl) and plastic scintillator, which was made by KAERI, has been carried. The defector response functions (DRFs) calculated by simulations were compared with the experimental measurement on the $^{137}Cs\;and\;^{60}Co$. To precisely simulate the DRF for the phoswich, the CSI(Tl) non-proportionality was calculated using the electron response and the simplified electron cascade sequence for treating the photoelectric absorption event. The resulting DRFs of $^{137}Cs\;and\;^{60}Co$ sources obtained by simulations were compared with experiments for verification. For $^{137}Cs$, gamma-ray responses simulated by MCNP5 are generally good agreement with the measured ones. But the DRF of $^{60}Co$ does not match well with the results of experiment in the energy region below second peak due to the coincidence effect of two gamma-rays (1.17 MeV and 1.33 MeV). Through the analysis of the non-proportionality of CsI(Tl) in the prototype phoswich, the improved DRFs considering non-proportionality were produced and the simulation results were verified using the experimental measurements. However, to more precisely reproduce the DRF for the phoswich, further studies in relation to the electron channeling effect and the Doppler broadening effect of a scintillator are still needed as well as considering that effect of the transfer contribution.
A new method of numerical simulating prediction and decontamination effect evaluation for abrasive jet decontamination to radioactively contaminated metal is proposed. Based on the Computational Fluid Dynamics and Discrete Element Model (CFD-DEM) coupled simulation model, the motion patterns and distribution of abrasives can be predicted, and the decontamination effect can be evaluated by image processing and recognition technology. The impact of three key parameters (impact distance, inlet pressure, abrasive mass flow rate) on the decontamination effect is revealed. Moreover, here are experiments of reliability verification to decontamination effect and numerical simulation methods that has been conducted. The results show that: 60Co and other homogeneous solid solution radioactive pollutants can be removed by abrasive jet, and the average removal rate of Co exceeds 80%. It is reliable for the proposed numerical simulation and evaluation method because of the well goodness of fit between predicted value and actual values: The predicted values and actual values of the abrasive distribution diameter are Ф57 and Ф55; the total coverage rate is 26.42% and 23.50%; the average impact velocity is 81.73 m/s and 78.00 m/s. Further analysis shows that the impact distance has a significant impact on the distribution of abrasive particles on the target surface, the coverage rate of the core area increases at first, and then decreases with the increase of the impact distance of the nozzle, which reach a maximum of 14.44% at 300 mm. It is recommended to set the impact distance around 300 mm, because at this time the core area coverage of the abrasive is the largest and the impact velocity is stable at the highest speed of 81.94 m/s. The impact of the nozzle inlet pressure on the decontamination effect mainly affects the impact kinetic energy of the abrasive and has little impact on the distribution. The greater the inlet pressure, the greater the impact kinetic energy, and the stronger the decontamination ability of the abrasive. But in return, the energy consumption is higher, too. For the decontamination of radioactively contaminated metals, it is recommended to set the inlet pressure of the nozzle at around 0.6 MPa. Because most of the Co elements can be removed under this pressure. Increasing the mass and flow of abrasives appropriately can enhance the decontamination effectiveness. The total mass of abrasives per unit decontamination area is suggested to be 50 g because the core area coverage rate of the abrasive is relatively large under this condition; and the nozzle wear extent is acceptable.

Purpose: In fire case, nursing hospitals are subject to considerable restrictions on evacuation due to the characteristics of occupants and vulnerable elements of buildings, it is important to make evacuation device for vulunerabale person, and need how to intend to increase the efficiency of evacuation by fire and evacuation simulation with helper Method: The smoke characteristics were analyzed by time through fire simulation, finally, the number of helpers according to the day and night was entered, and the evacuation completion time was compared and analyzed using the evacuation simulation. Result: It was found that the evacuation time was shortened by more than 20% when the evacuation assistance device was used for the vulnerable, and the evacuation time was delayed by almost 70% in case of a fire at night compared to the daytime. Conclusion: If the horizontal and vertical evacuation device are effectively utilized in actual fire situations, a strategy appropriate to the situation is deemed necessary. It is expected that evacuation efficiency will increase based on the use of horizontal evacuation evacuation device and vertical evacuation device by developing evacuation manuals

The method of the reducing duct noise can be classified by passive and active control techniques. However, passive control has a limited effect of noise reduction at low frequencies (below 500Hz) and is limited by the space. On the other hand, active control can overcome these passive control limitations. The active control technique mostly uses the Least-Mean-Square (LMS) algorithm, because the LMS algorithm can easily obtain the complex transfer function in real-time particularly when the Filtered-X LMS (FXLMS) algorithm is applied to an active noise control (ANC) system. However, the convergence performance of the LMS algorithm decreases slightly so it may delay the convergence time when the FXLMS algorithm is applied to the active control of duct noise. Thus the Co-FXLMS algorithm was developed to improve the control performance in order to solve this problem. The Co-FXLMS algorithm is realized by using an estimate of the cross correlation between the adaptation error and the filtered input signal to control the step size. In this paper, the performance of the Co-FXLMS algorithm is presented in comparison with the FXLMS algorithm. Simulation results show that active noise control using Co-FXLMS is effective in reducing duct noise.
A sour natural gas feed containing 1.37 and 1.70 mole percent $CO_2$ and $H_2S$ respectively is to be sweetened. Our research is to design an amine treating facility to bring the concentration of the acid gases in 100 MMSCFD of natural gas down to less than 5 ppm. The K-values for $CO_2,\;H_2S,\;H_2O$ and amine components contained in natural gas is obtained by using Kent-Eisenberg model. The new gas sweetening process designed by Ball and Veldman is modeled and optimized with the commercial simulator. Results of simulations led to further economic improvements over the present operating process.

In actual battlefield environment, IFF radar plays an important role in distinguishing friend or foe targets and assigning unique identification code to management. Performance of IFF radar is greatly affected by radio environment including atmosphere and terrain, target maneuvering and operation mode. In this paper, M&S tool is consisted of interrogator(IFF radar) and answering machine(target) for radar performance analysis. The wave propagation model using APM(Advanced Propagation Model) and radar actuator system were modeled by considering beam waveform of individual operation beam mode. Using this tool, IFF radar performance was analyzed through two experimental results. As a result, it is expected that performance of IFF radar can be predicted in the operational environment by considering target maneuvering and operation beam mode.
Nondispersive infrared CO2 gas sensor was developed after the simulation of optical cavity structure and assembling the optical components: IR source, concave reflectors, Fresnel lens, a hollow disk, and IR detectors. By placing a hollow disk in front of reference IR detector, the output voltages are almost constant value, near to 70.2 mV. The absorbance of IR light, Fa, shows the second order of polynomial according to ambient temperatures at 1,500 ppm. The differential output voltages and the absorbance of IR light give a higher accuracy in estimations of CO2 concentrations with less than ± 1.5 % errors. After implementing the parameters that are dependent upon the ambient temperatures in microcontroller unit (MCU), the measured CO2 concentrations show high accuracies (less than ± 1.0 %) from 281 K to 308 K and the time constant of developed sensor is about 58 sec at 301 K. Even though the estimation errors are relatively high at low concentration, the developed sensor is competitive to the commercial product with a high accuracy and the stability.
This paper presents an effective method to improve efficiency of switched reluctance motor by optimizing energy conversion loop. A nonlinear analytical model which takes saturation account is developed to calculate inductance and flux-linkage. The flux-linkage curve is studied to calculate the co-energy increment to obtain the optimum exciting current. For a given cross-section, the exciting current at which co-energy increment is maximum was found to be constant while stack length varies. Then the energy conversion loop was optimized by varying the stack length and turns of windings. The constraints during optimization were that motor was excited by the maximum increment co-energy current and the energy in the loop was determined by rated power of motor. Dynamic finite element analysis was used to evaluate the efficiency of various models and the comparison of results shows promising effects of the proposed method. Experiment was also conducted to validate the simulation result.

A lot of information storage devices have been introduced and developed for recently years. The trends of those devices are high capacity, compact size, low power consumption, reliability, and removability for data interchange with other device. As a satisfaction of these trends, near-field technique is in the spotlight as the next generation device. In order for a near-field recording to be successfully implemented in the storage device, a slider and suspension is introduced as actuating mechanism. The optical slider is designed considering near-filed optics. Suspension is not only supports slider performance, and tracking servo capacity but also meets the optical characteristics such as tilt aberration, and guarantee to satisfy shock performances for the mobility fir the actuator. In this study, the optical slider and the suspension for near-field probe array are designed and analyzed considering dynamic performance of head-gimbal assembly and shock simulation..
