  • Tribologicsl diagnostics as the ensemble of means and methods of continuous monitoring of the state of friction characteristics of moving junctions is playing an ever important part in the development of friction, lubrication, and wear theory end practice. The scheme presenting the main areas of tribological diagnostics is given in Fig. I. This growing part of TD is determined by the general tendency of modern technology, expressed in an attempt to organically combine the functions of measuring, evaluating, and predicting the parameters and characteristics of the processee taking place in the operating device. The logical result of this integration in future is the closed system correcting its operation in accordance with sn established program. Unfortunately, tribotechnicsl devices are still very far from such an ideal system at the present time. While in the friction assemblies with hydrodynamic lubrication it is possible in the first approximation to realize feed-backs in the lubricant circulation system with the aid of monitoring of the pressure, temperature and filtration, in the systems operating without lubrication and with boundary lubricetion even the process of selection of the diagnostic parameters has not been completed.

  • Let k be a field of characteristic 0. Let ${\mathfrak{C}}=Spec(k[x,y]/{\langle}f{\rangle})$ be a weighted homogeneous plane curve singularity with tangent space ${\pi}_{\mathfrak{C}}:T_{{\mathfrak{C}}/k}{\rightarrow}{\mathfrak{C}$. In this article, we study, from a computational point of view, the Zariski closure ${\mathfrak{G}}({\mathfrak{C}})$ of the set of the 1-jets on ${\mathfrak{C}}$ which define formal solutions (in F[[t]]2 for field extensions F of k) of the equation f = 0. We produce Groebner bases of the ideal ${\mathcal{N}}_1({\mathfrak{C}})$ defining ${\mathfrak{G}}({\mathfrak{C}})$ as a reduced closed subscheme of $T_{{\mathfrak{C}}/k}$ and obtain applications in terms of logarithmic differential operators (in the plane) along ${\mathfrak{C}}$.

  • Let (R, T) be a normal pair of commutative rings (i.e., R ${\subseteq}$ T is a unita extension of commutative rings, not necessarily integral domains, such that S is integrally closed in T for each ring S such that R ${\subseteq}$ S ${\subseteq}$ T) such that the total quotient ring of R is a von Neumann regular ring. Let P be one of the following ring-theoretic properties: going-down ring, extensionally going-down (EGD) ring, locally divided ring. Then R has P if and only if T has P. An example shows that the "if" part of the assertion fails if P is taken to be the "divided domain" property.

  • A method for performing kinematic design sensitivity analysis of vehicle suspension systems is presented. For modeling of vehicle suspensions, the multibody dynamic formulation is adopted, where suspensions are assumed as combination of rigid bodies and ideal frictionless joints. In a relative joint coordinate setting, kinematic constraint equations are obtained by imposing cut-joints that transform closed-loop shape suspension systems into open-loop systems. By directly differentiating the constraint equations with respect to kinematic design variables, such as length of bodies, notion axis, etc., sensitivity equations are derived. By solving the sensitivity equations, sensitivity of static design factors that can be used for design improvement, can be obtained. The validity and usefulness of the method are demonstrated through an example where kinematic sensitivity analysis of a MacPherson strut suspension of performed.

  • Impedance calculations of electric railway traction systems is essential to define characteristics and to design it. The self impedance is defined voltage drop rate per unit length, the mutual impedance is represented as a voltage induced to transmission line from transmission line. The self and the mutual impedance are influenced by ground return currents. The earth is considered as a semi-infinitely extended non-ideal conductor. The current of transmission line produces earth current induced magnetically and it flow through a path having minimum impedance. Carson proposed the impedance calculation formula using wave equations and magnetic field equations. Though the formula have an improper equation, that is still used as a standard impedance calculation method. This paper introduced an impedance calculation method that the complex depth of earth return method assumes that the current in conductor returns through an imagined earth depth path located directly under original conductor at a depth of. In this paper, we showed that this proposed method has a closed form and is easier than Carson's.

  • The purpose of this study is to calculate transmission loss of the high speed railway's wall section accurately. Transmission loss measurement of ideal case i.e. the wall in the laboratory condition was carried out in first, which results were compared with those by statistical energy method. Transmission loss values of high speed railway calculated out by experimental method are compared with those from closed form solution. Commercial statistical energy analysis was also used to predict the outside pressure level using those measured transmission loss values. Simple SEA model could estimate reasonable exterior sound pressure level.

  • In this paper, an integral variable structure static output feedback controller with an integral-augmented sliding surface is designed for the improved robust control of a uncertain system under unmatched system uncertainty and matched input matrix uncertainty and disturbance satisfying some conditions. To effectively remove the reaching phase problems, an output dependent integral augmented sliding surface is proposed. Its equivalent control and ideal sliding mode dynamics are obtained. The previous some limitations is overcome in this systematic design. A stabilizing control with the closed loop exponential stability is designed for all unmatched system matrix uncertainties and proved together with the existence condition of the sliding mode on S=0. To show the usefulness of the algorithm, a design example and computer simulations are presented.

  • In this paper we consider the variable structure control for a class of discrete-time uncertain multivariable systems where the nominal system is linear. Discrete-time switching dynamics are introduced so that a new type of state trajectories called sliding mode may exist on the sliding surface by state feedback. The quantitative analysis for the matched uncertainties will show that every response of the system with the proposed switching dynamics is bounded within small neighborhoods of the state-space origin. Also, by the similarity transformation it will be shown that the eigenvalues of the closed-loop systems are composed of those of the subsystems which govern the range-space dynamics and null-space dynamics. It will be also shown that ideal sliding mode can be obtained in the absence of uncertainties due to one-step attraction to the sliding surface regardless of initial position of states. • This paper examines the problem of a penny-shaped crack in a thermoporoelastic body. On the basis of the recently developed general solutions for thermoporoelasticity, appropriate potentials are suggested and the governing equations are solved in view of the similarity to those for pure elasticity. Exact and closed form fundamental solutions are expressed in terms of elementary functions. The singularity behavior is then discussed. The present solutions are compared with those in literature and an excellent agreement is achieved. Numerical calculations are performed to show the influence of the material parameters upon the distribution of the thermoporoelastic field. Due to its ideal property, the present solution is a natural benchmark to various numerical codes and simplified analyses.
