  • The combine harvester is considered as an important but complicated and costly machine. The appropriate size of combine has to be developed to use efficiently in Korea. But the combine is such a complicated machine that a complete design model to develop a new type is impossible without understanding the relationship between each factor. The combine capacity is generally limited by the cleaning shoe performance. So a design model for a cleaning shoe has to be developed first for the complete combine design. The objective of this research was to develop a cleaning model of head-feeding combine to predict grain separation from chaff and broken straw on a sieve. A developed physically based model can explain the situation which can happen during separation process. A test apparatus based on the field going machine was developed. The test materials were paddy rice and barley. The data obtained were analyzed by the hand and the video camera. The developed model was verified as an adequate model through the test with $R^2$ of 0.934 and 0.837. The model can be used to evaluate design and operation alternatives of combine and also applied to the automatic control of separation unit of combine with a loss monitering sensors.

  • Regulations for the exhaust gas of diesel vehicles are being strengthened every year. Recently, diesel emission regulations for HC, CO, NOx, and particulate matter (PM) have been subject to very strict standards. In the future, the regulation of PM is expected to become stricter. Accordingly, diesel particulate filters (DPFs) have been applied to most diesel vehicles for PM reduction. With increasing engine mileage, ash and soot from the engine exhaust gas accumulate inside the DPF. This accumulation can damage the DPF or degrade engine performance. Therefore, efficient cleaning of the DPF is critical for the maintenance of the engine. If the DPF is well managed through regular cleaning, it can improve the power and fuel economy of the engine and reduce maintenance costs. Therefore, this study was performed to develop a high-efficiency cleaning method for DPFs and an apparatus that can more effectively clean out the accumulated ash and soot.

  • A series of cooperative interlaboratory tests (round robins) was conducted in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003 by the DIN 51834 Working Group on Tribological Tests in Translatory Oscillation Apparatus. The statistical analysis of these test results shows the influence of cleaning solvent, machine model and evaluation criteria on the tribological properties of the lubricants tested. Coefficients of friction and wear results are ranked according to the effects of ten different cleaning solvents, where isopropanol gave the lowest values and isoparaffin solvents the highest. The effect of machine model on coefficients of friction varied from about $0.2\%\;to\;0.9\%$ of the mean. Wear results were not affected. The tests also showed that the seizure criteria and methods of measuring wear required for in the test procedure do not provide a suitable measure of the tribological properties of some lubricants. The precision was Improved by introducing a grease apply caliper as well as an increased stroke to 1,5 mm and running-in. The temperature does not affect the precision of the oil test procedure.

  • The porous matterials are used both to control the flow of the compressed gas and to serve as the bearing surface. This porous design offers several advantages over the conventional externally pressurized gas bearings. It can simplify the construction, lower the gas consumption, and make the cleaning of the gas supply less critical. Test apparatus was cinstructed to experi- mentally investigate maximum load capacity of thrust bearing was measured 200 Kg (15Kg/$\mu$m), and radial bearing was 36 Kg/$\mu$m. And a rotation accuracy of face waving was 0.0127$\mu$m, and center waving was measured 0.5 $\mu$m. Finally, the use of this method of design and manufacturing will contribute to many practical application in the field required for precision and high stability.

  • Glass-to-metal contact should be prevented in the design of any structural glass component. Because glass is extremely brittle and will fracture readily if even a small point load is applied. If the assembly includes a glass component supported by metallic structure, designers should provide a pliable interface of some kind between the two parts. But there happens high demand of glass-to metal contact in semiconductor industries due to adoption of dry cleaning process as one of the good solution to reduce running cost - carry out equipments cleaning with high corrosive and etching gas such as CF4 with keeping process temperature as the same as high service temperature. Therefore the quartz glass have to be received compression by direct contact with metal as the form of weight itself and vacuum pressure and fatigue by vibrations caused by process during the process. In this paper investigation will be carried out on fracture behavior of quartz glass contacted with metal directly under local load and fatigue given by process vibration with apparatus which can give $lox{\backslash}cal$ load and vibration through PZT ceramics to give guideline to prevent unintended fracture of quartz glass.

  • It is a well known fact that the LCD and Semiconductor Devices are a central part of IT industry which is important in the present and the future. But the biggest problem of Semiconductor and LCD manufacturing is maintaining a cleaning room environment. For this reason, the soft X-ray type Ionizer was used as the electrostatic reducer device, which protects damage of the product against electrostatic discharge in the manufacturing process. Therefore it is a essential important factor during Semiconductor and LCD production process. But the soft X-ray has a intrinsic problem with harmful to human being in case of soft X-ray exposure. That's reason we have the research to solve above problem and made an apparatus that it was covered with shielding structure to protect X-ray radiation to outside. And besides, it has a possibility to eliminate the charged electrostatic in the narrow space through the slot for Ion emissions with dual soft X-ray sources on the both side. It is also not make the particles from itself when it has been operated.

  • Current desulfurization and denitrification technologies have reached a considerable level in terms of reduction efficiency. However, when compared with the simultaneous reduction technology, the individual reduction technologies have issues such as economic disadvantages due to the difficulty to scale-up apparatus, secondary pollution from wastewater/waste during the treatment process, requirement of large facilities for post-treatment, and increased installation costs. Therefore, it is necessary to enable practical application of simultaneous SOx and NOx treatment technologies to remove two or more contaminants in one process. The present study analyzes a technology capable of maintaining simultaneous treatment of SOx and NOx even at low temperatures due to the electrochemically generated strong oxidation of the wet-pulse complex system. This system also reduces unreacted residual gas and secondary products through the wet scrubbing process. It addresses common problems of the existing fuel gas treatment methods such as SDR, SCR, and activated carbon adsorption (i.e., low treatment efficiency, expensive maintenance cost, large installation area, and energy loss). Experiments were performed with varying variables such as pulse voltage, reaction temperature, chemicals and additives ratios, liquid/gas ratio, structure of the aeration cleaning nozzle, and gas inlet concentration. The performance of individual and complex processes using the wet-pulse discharge reaction were analyzed and compared.

  • Background: Meta-analyses have shown firefighters to be at an increased risk of several cancer types. Occupational carcinogen exposure may explain these increased risks. This study aims to describe Norwegian fire departments' work conditions from 1950 until today, focusing on factors relevant for potential occupational carcinogen exposure. Methods: With the help of a reference group, we developed a questionnaire on topics related to occupational exposure to carcinogens for the period 1950-2018. Selected Norwegian fire departments provided department-specific responses. Results: Sixteen departments, providing fire services for 48% of the Norwegian population as of 2019 and mainly consisting of professional firefighters, responded to our questionnaire. The introduction of synthetic firefighting foams, more regular live fire training, the introduction of chemical diving, and a higher number of diesel-driven fire service vehicles were identified as changes thought to increase exposure to occupational carcinogens. Changes thought to decrease exposure included the switch from negative to positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatuses, the use of self-contained breathing apparatuses during all phases of firefighting, the use of ventilating fans during firefighting, increased attention to flammable materials used during live fire training, increased attention to handling and cleaning of turnout gear and other equipment, and installment of exhaust removal systems in apparatus bays. Conclusion: Norwegian fire departments' work conditions have seen several changes since 1950, and this could influence firefighters' occupational carcinogen exposure. A peak of carcinogen exposure may have occurred in the 1970s and 1980s before recent changes have reduced exposure.

  • This study evaluated the effect of ultrasonic irradiation on reducing membrane fouling for the treatment of chemically treated leachate and biologically treated leachate. The experiments on improvement of membrane flux according to the membrane types(MF and UF) and membrane materials were performed with changing frequency(40 kHz and 120 kHz) and intensity(200 W and 400 W) of ultrasound in ultrasonic membrane separation apparatus which ultrasound can be periodically irradiated. Additionally, the effect of dual frequency ultrasound which 40 kHz md 120 kHz are irradiated simultaneously was evaluated. The improvement of membrane flux by periodical ultrasound irradiation was higher in microfiltration(MF) membrane than in ultrafiltration(UF) membrane. It was sustained more in the MF membrane of polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF) than in that of polysulfon(PS). Ultrasonic improvement of membrane flux was different depending on the characteristics of target wastewater. It was sustainably maintained without reclogging using dual frequency ultrasound although the improvement of membrane flux was lower.

  • A microscope is the fundamental research and diagnostic apparatus for clinical investigation of signaling transduction, morphological changes and physiological tracking of cells and intact tissues from patients in the biomedical laboratory science. Proper use, care and maintenance of microscope with comprehensive understanding in mechanism are fully requested for reliable image data and accurate interpretation for diagnosis in the clinical laboratory. The standard operating procedure (SOP) for light microscopes includes performance procedure, brief information of all mechanical parts of microscopes with systematic troubleshooting mechanism depending on the laboratory capacity. Maintenance program encompasses cleaning objective, ocular lenses and inner optics; replacement and calibration of light source; XY sample stage management; point spread function (PSF) measurement for confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM); quality control (QC) program in fluorescent microscopy; and systematic troubleshooting. Laser safety is one of the concern for medical technologists engaged in CLSM laboratory. Laser safety guideline based on the laser classification and risk level, and advisory lab wear for CLSM users are also expatiated in this overview. Since acquired image data presents a wide range of information at the moment of acquisition, well-maintained microscopes with proper microscopic maintenance program are impulsive for its interpretation and diagnosis in the clinical laboratory.
