Blind Adaptive Multiuser Detection for the MC-CDMA Systems Using Orthogonalized Subspace Tracking

  • In this paper, we study the performance of subspace-based multiuser detection techniques for multicarrier code-division multiple access (MC-CDMA) systems. We propose an improvement in the PASTd algorithm by cascading it with the classical Gram-Schmidt procedure to orthonormalize the eigenvectors after their sequential extraction. The tracking of signal subspace using this algorithm, which we call OPASTd, has a faster convergence as the eigenvectors are orthonormalized at each discrete time sample. This improved PASTd algorithm is then used to implement the subspace blind adaptive multiuser detection for MC-CDMA. We also show that, for multiuser detection, the complexity of the proposed scheme is lower than that of many other orthogonalization schemes found in the literature. Extensive simulation results are presented and discussed to demonstrate the performance of the proposed scheme.

A Bibliographical Study on the Manufacturing Procedure of Hosanchun (호산춘양조에 관한 문헌적 고찰)

  • The research on the manufacturing procedure of Hosanchun jun in the classical literature(17 kinds) showed that the most usually brewed rice wine in it is the 3rd step rice wine, which is brewed by adding rice wine base to it at the intervals used quantity are as follows. Nonglutinous rice(88.2%), flour(82.3%), and nu-ruk(100%) are used in the 1st step of brewing, and nonglutinous rice(82.3%), glutinous rice(17.6%), flour(23.5%), and nu-ruk(11.3%) are used in the 2nd sep, and glutinous rice, flour, and 3rd step of brewing. The grains are used in the form of -paste(88.2%) in the 1st, and in the form of paste(64.7%) and steamed water-soaked rice(sul-bab)(29.4%) in the second step, and sul-bab(64.7%) in the 3rd step of brewing. Nu-ruk is used in small quantity in the 3rd step but it is used I somewhat larger quantity in the 2nd step of brewing.

Simulation of Atom Focusing for Nanostructure Fabrication

  • The light pressure force from an optical standing wave (SW) can focus an atomic beam to submicrometer dimensions. To make the best of this technique it is necessary to find a set of optimal experimental parameters. In this paper we consider theoretically the chromium atoms focusing and demonstrate that the focusing performance depends not only on the strength of but also on the time atoms take to traverse the force field. The general conclusions drawn can easily be applied to other atoms. To analyze the problem we numerically integrate a coupled time-dependent $Schr{\"{o}}dinger$ equation over a wide range of experimental parameters. It is found that an optimal atomic beam speed-laser intensity pair does exist, which could give substantially improved focusing over the one with the experimental parameters given in the literature. It is also shown that the widely used classical particle optics approach can lead to erroneous predictions.

  • We have investigated the dynamic mechanical behavior of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) irradiated with varying doses of gamma rays. A relaxation peak in the loss factor curve, which has not been reported previously in the literature, is observed at a temperature above the crystal melting temperature. The peak is unique to UHMWPE and appears to be related to the high degree of entanglement. Because the temperature and intensity of the peak are reduced by irradiation-induced chain scission and crosslinking, respectively, we believe that the peak is associated with disentanglement relaxation. The behavior of the storage modulus in the melt state agrees with the classical theory of rubber elasticity.

Measurement of Laminar Flame Speeds of Dimethyl Ether-Air Mixtures at High Pressure (고압에서 DME-Air 혼합기의 화염속도 측정)

  • Spherically expanding flames are used to measure flame speeds, which are derived the corresponding laminar flame speeds at zero stretch. Dimethyl Ether-Air mixtures at high pressure are studied over an extensive range of equivalence ratios. The classical shadowgraph technique is used to detect the reaction zone. In analytical methodology the optimization process using least mean squares is performed to extract the laminar flame speeds. It is seen that the laminar flame speed of DME-Air mixture with the increase of pressure decreases rapidly showing a similar trend to other hydrocarbon fuels. At pressure of 2 and 10 atm the experimental data from the present study agree well with results reported in the literature. Especially the laminar flame speeds at 2 atm are in good agreement with those calculated in numerical work over the full stoichiometric range. At elevated pressure of 12 atm the measured data are slightly slower at fuel lean condition and show close agreement at fuel rich condition when compared with the numerical results.

  • Numerous classical as well as robust methods have been proposed in the literature for the detection of multiple outlier in multivariate data. The effectiveness and power of each of these methods have not been thoroughly investigated. In this paper we first reduce the vast number of outlier detection methods to a small number of viable ones. This reduction is based on previous work of other researches and on some theoretical arguments. Then we design and implement a Monte Carlo experiment for comparing these methods. The main goal of our study is to determine which methods are most powerful in the detection of multiple outlier and in dealing with the masking and swamping problems. The results of the Monte Carlo study indicate that two of the methods seem to hace better performances than the others for the detection of multiple outlier in multivariate data.

  • This work presents a free vibration analysis of functionally graded plates by employing an original high order shear deformation theory (HSDT). This theory use only four unknowns, which is even less than the classical HSDT. The equations of motion for the dynamic analysis are determined via the Hamilton's principle. The original kinematic allows obtaining interesting equations of motion. These equations are solved analytically via Navier procedure. The accuracy of the proposed solution is checked by comparing it with other closed form solutions available in the literature.

An asymptotic multi-scale approach for beams via strain gradient elasticity: surface effects

  • In this paper, an asymptotic method is employed to formulate nano- or micro-beams based on strain gradient elasticity. Although a basic theory for the strain gradient elasticity has been well established in literature, a systematic approach is relatively rare because of its complexity and ambiguity of higher-order elasticity coefficients. In order to systematically identify the strain gradient effect, an asymptotic approach is adopted by introducing the small parameter which represents the beam geometric slenderness and/or the internal atomistic characteristic. The approach allows us to systematically split the two-dimensional strain gradient elasticity into the microscopic one-dimensional through-the-thickness analysis and the macroscopic one-dimensional beam analysis. The first-order beam problem turns out to be different from the classical elasticity in terms of the bending stiffness, which comes from the through-the-thickness strain gradient effect. This subsequently affects the second-order transverse shear stress in which the surface shear stress exists. It is demonstrated that a careful derivation of a first strain gradient elasticity embraces "Gurtin-Murdoch traction" as the surface effect of a one-dimensional Euler-Bernoulli-like beam model.

  • We study the existence and uniqueness of fixed point for isotone mappings of any number of arguments under Geraghty-type contraction on a complete metric space endowed with a partial order. As an application of our result we study the existence and uniqueness of the solution to a nonlinear Fredholm integral equation. Our results generalize, extend and unify several classical and very recent related results in the literature in metric spaces.

  • In this paper, we introduce a new class of mappings called the generalized orthogonal F-Suzuki contraction for a family of multivalued mappings in the setup of orthogonal b-metric spaces. We established the existence of some common fixed point results without using any commutativity condition for this new class of mappings in orthogonal b-metric spaces. Moreover, we illustrate and support these common fixed point results with example. The results obtained in this work generalize and extend some recent and classical related results in the existing literature.
