  • A procedure is proposed to identify multiple outliers in the logistic regression. It detects the leverage points by means of hierarchical clustering of the robust distances based on the minimum covariance determinant estimator, and then it employs a V-mask type criterion on the scatter plot of robust residuals against robust distances to classify the observations into vertical outliers, bad leverage points, good leverage points, and regular points. Effectiveness of the proposed procedure is evaluated on the basis of the classic and artificial data sets, and it is shown that the procedure deals very well with the masking and swamping effects.

  • An inverse minimum spanning tree problem makes the least modification on the edge weights such that a predetermined spanning tree is a minimum spanning tree with respect to the new edge weights. In this paper, the concept of uncertain ${\alpha}$-minimum spanning tree is initiated for minimum spanning tree problem with uncertain edge weights. Using different decision criteria, two uncertain programming models are presented to formulate a specific inverse minimum spanning tree problem with uncertain edge weights involving a sum-type model and a minimax-type model. By means of the operational law of independent uncertain variables, the two uncertain programming models are transformed to their equivalent deterministic models which can be solved by classic optimization methods. Finally, some numerical examples on a traffic network reconstruction problem are put forward to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed models.

  • Purpose - The study is primarily aimed at framing "Position Descriptions" for some key positions in the executive cadre of the testing department of CESC Limited. Research design, data, and methodology - The questionnaire, interview, and observation methods have been used for the purpose of data collection. The position descriptions are validated by superiors belonging to the respective departments. Results - It has been found that there is overlapping of job duties and job responsibilities in the department. This overlapping is quite alarming for the organization and may even become a hurdle in the path of its progress. It can be seen as a classic case of de-layering. Conclusions - The study concludes that good communication along with interpersonal and negotiation skills are absolutely essential to facilitate the performance of the day-to-day duties of a job, including handling the union, solving IR related issues, development of the subordinates, job setting, distribution and allocation, etc. Position descriptions will help in the alignment of the employee direction, and can be a useful tool to aid the communication between management and employees.

  • Geometric imperfections have an important influence on the buckling response of structural components. This paper describes an experimental technique for determining imperfections in long (5.7 m) structural members using a series of overlapping measurements. Measurements were performed on 31 austenitic stainless steel sections formed from three different production routes: hot-rolling, cold-rolling and press-braking. Spectral analysis was carried out on the imperfections to obtain information on the periodic nature of the profiles. Two series were used to model the profile firstly the orthogonal cosine and sine functions in a classic Fourier transform and secondly a half sine series. Results were compared to the relevant tolerance standards. Simple predictive tools for both local and global imperfections have been developed to enable representative geometric imperfections to be incorporated into numerical models and design methods.

  • The ability of a dentist to select and communicate an acceptable shade match to a dental laboratory may be the most important factor in esthetic restorative dentistry. However, shade matching is a very complex situation. In this study, an attempt was made to compare and evaluate the conventional visual assessment and colorimetric analysis in clinical shade matching. 20 patients were selected and their maxillary central incisors shade were measured by Vita classic shade guide, using $Shadepilot^{TM}$ and ShadeEye $NCC^{(R)}$. The results indicate that there is much variation in the shade selection by visual and instrumental methods.

  • PURPOSE. The color of the ceramic restorations is affected by various factors such as brand, thickness of the layered the ceramic, condensation techniques, smoothness of surface, number of firings, firing temperature and thickness of dentin. The aim of this study was to evaluate the color change and surface roughness in dental porcelain with different thicknesses during repeated firings. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Disc-shaped (N=21) metal-ceramic samples (IPS Classic; Ivoclar Vivadent; Shaar, Liechtenstein) with different thickness were exposed to repeated firings. Color measurement of the samples was made using a colorimeter and profilometer was used to determine surface roughness. ANOVA and Tukey tests with repeated measurements were used for statistical analysis. RESULTS. The total thickness of the ceramics which is less than 2 mm significantly have detrimental effect on the surface properties and color of porcelains during firings (P<.05). CONCLUSION. Repeated firings have effects on the color change and surface roughness of the dental ceramics and should be avoided.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine how the Hanbok is expressed in the ballet performances through the 'La, Chun-hyang', a classic Korean ballet. 'La, Chun-hyang', was performed from 2009 and 2010, but there were some differences in choreography by the director's intention. According to these changes, the methods of expression of ballet objects were changed as well. Therefore, totally different personalities were shown despite the fact that theses were same performances. Every costume objects in dance performances like the ballet can be used to express the story and the characters. Moreover, the object designs of Hanbok portray creativity and originality that simultaneously refers to history. In order for stage costume objects to popularize, the making method and process have to be developed like the objects of the Hanbok that signified historicity.

  • The Background and Purpose : Many herb-medicines are frequently used in China but they are not in Korea. It is required to prove them worthy to introduce into Korea and to find substitutes for them. The Objective and Methods : During stay in China as a Professor extraordinary, I investigated applications of Chinese modicines, books and theses. The Results and Conclusions : 1. In China the cheap herb-medicines are chosen preferentially and the classic rules of oriental medicine are truly observed. 2. in China it is impossible to prove virtue of ready made herb-medicines because constituents are not opened. 3. Commonly used herb-medicines are drug of clean away heat(淸熱藥) which are antinflammatories or anti-toxins. 4. Antitumorigenic effects was frequently reported but they don't get complete agreement also in China. 5. Herb-medicines which are frequently used in China but not in Korea have no significant differences from commonly used herb-medicines in Korea.

  • Objective : In "Hyangyakjipseongbang" there are quotation remark as "Jipseong", that means "Hyangyakjipseongbang" because this is self-quotation. The contents of "Jipseong" that "Hyangyakjipseongbang" mentioned are in "Yifangjicheng". So "Jipseong" means abbreviation of "Yifangjicheng" and "Jipseong" should be "Jicheng". Method : We will try to do bibliographical methods on "Jicheng" and the books related to "Jicheng" through "Isekigo", "Zhongyiyijidacidian" and "Zhongguoyijitongkao". Result : "Yifangjicheng" is not handed down but the contents of that are in "Yifangdacheng". There are three differnt types(authors) of "Yifangdacheng". One of "Yifangdacheng" was enlarged to "Yifangdacheng". In "Euibangyoochui" there are several qutations such as "Yifangdacheng", "Yishudadian", "Nanbeijingxianfang", "Yongleilingfang" ralated to "Yifangjicheng". Conclusion : "Jipseong" mean "Yifangjicheng" instead of "Hyangyakjipseongbang" and there are some kinds of books related to the similar contents of "Jicheng".
