This paper presents the in-process runout compensation methodology to improve the surface quality of circular contouring cut in end milling process. The runout compensation system is based on the manipulation of workpiece position relative to cutter in minimizing the cutting force oscillation at spindle frequency. the basic concept of this approach is realized on a end milling machine whose machining table accommodates a set of orthogonal translators perpendicular to the spindle axis. The system performed that measuring the runout related cutting force component, formulating PI controlling commands, and the manipulating the workpiece position to counteract the variation of chip load during the circular contouring cut. To evaluate the runout compensation system performance, experimental study based on the implementation of two-axes PI force control is presented in the context of cutting force regulation and part surface finish improvement.

In this paper, L-Type aperture coupled circular polarization patch antenna for mobile communication(IMT-2000, 1.9375 GHz), which is capable of being mounted in mobile unit, was designed and fabricated. This antenna is expanded to the $2\times2$ circular polarization array antenna for satellite mobile communications which are using the L-band frequency. The results are as followings : Returnloss 18.56 dB, beamwidth $60^{\circ}$, gain 7 dBd, axial ratio 0.9 dB in the case of single element and returnloss 28.43 dB, beamwidth $38^{\circ}$, gain 9.8dBd, axial ratio 1.5 dB in the case of $2\times2$ array, respectively.
This paper describes a simple method for evaluating the design wind loads for the structural frames of circular flat roofs with long spans. The dynamic response of several roof models were numerically analyzed in the time domain as well as in the frequency domain by using wind pressure data obtained from a wind tunnel experiment. The instantaneous displacement and bending moment of the roof were computed, and the maximum load effects were evaluated. The results indicate that the wind-induced oscillation of the roof is generally dominated by the first mode and the gust effect factor approach can be applied to the evaluation of the maximum load effects. That is, the design wind load can be represented by the time-averaged wind pressure multiplied by the gust effect factor for the first mode. Based on the experimental results for the first modal force, an empirical formula for the gust effect factor is provided as a function of the geometric and structural parameters of the roof and the turbulence intensity of the approach flow. The equivalent design pressure coefficients, which reproduce the maximum load effects, are also discussed. A simplified model of the pressure coefficient distribution is presented.
The differential equations governing both the free vibrations and buckling loads of tapered beam-columns of circular cross-section with constant volume are derived and solved numerically. The effects of axial load are included in the differential equations. The parabolic equation is chosen as the variable radius of circular cross-section for the tapered beam-column. In numerical examples, the clamped-clamped, clamped-hinged and hinged-hinged end constraints are considered. The variations of the frequency parameters and buckling load parameters with the non-dimensional system parameters are presented in figures and the configurations of strongest columns are obtained.

The present study has numerically investigated two-dimensional laminar flow over a circular cylinder with a uniform planar shear, where the free-stream velocity varies linearly across the cylinder. Numerical simulations using the immersed boundary method are performed for the ranges of $50{\le}Re{\le}160,\;K{\le}0.2$, and B=0.1 and 0.05 where Re, K and B are the Reynolds number, the non-dimensionalized velocity gradient and the blockage ratio, respectively. Results show that the flow depends significantly on B as well as Re and K. It is found, especially, that the blockage effect accounts for some causes of apparent discrepancies among previous studies on the flow. With increasing K, the vortex shedding frequency and the mean drag stay nearly constant or slightly decrease whereas the mean lift, acting from the higher-velocity side to the lower, increases linearly. Flow statistics as well as instantaneous flow fields are presented to identify the characteristics of the flow and then to understand the underlying mechanism.

In this study, a circular polarization patch antenna operates at the wide bandwidth of 1.5GHz~1.7GHz was designed. To obtain the wide bandwidth and high gain, the high air substrate was applied. The impedance bandwidth is improved by adjusting the sizes of patch, the distance between main patch and ground plate, the length of internal slots, the position of feeding point, the length of external stub, etc. The antenna is designed by simulation for an operation in the frequency range of 1.5GHz~1.7GHz band, and the antenna characteristics such as return loss, gain, radiation patterns are examined.

Flow characteristics of the wake behind a finite circular cylinder(FC) mounted on a flat plate was experimentally investigated. Three finite cylinder models having aspect ratio (length to diameter ratio, L/D) of 6,10 and 13 were tested in this study. Wake velocity was measured by a hot-wire anemometry at Reynolds number of 20,000, and the results were compared with those of two-dimensional circular cylinder. As a result, the free-end effect on the wake structure becomes more dominant with decreasing the aspect ratio(L/D) of the finite cylinder. Invisid flow entrained into the wake region decreases the turbulence intensity and periodicity of the vortex shedding due to existence of the free end. From spectral analysis and cross correlation of the velocity signals, vortices having 24Hz frequency characteristics are found in the down wash flow just behind the free end. There exists very complicated flow near the free end due to interaction between the entrained flow and streamwise vortices. Vortex formation region is destroyed significantly in the near wake and shows quite different wake structures from those of 2-D cylinder.

Acoustic sounds generated by a uniform flow around a two-dimensional circular cylinder at Re=200 are simulated using finite difference lattice Boltzmann method. A third-order-accurate up-wind scheme is used for spartial derivatives, and a second-order-accurate Runge-Kutta scheme is used for time marching. The results show that in capturing very small acoustic pressure fluctuation with same frequency of Karman vortex street compared with the pressure fluctuation around a circular cylinder. The propagation velocity of acoustic sound is presented that acoustic which approaches tire upstream due to Doppler effect in the uniform flow slowly propagates, while that for the downstream quickly propagates. It is also apparent that the size of sound pressure is proportional for central distance $r^{-1/2}$ of the cylinder.

This paper describes the acoustic emission measurement method to diagnose GIS for particles. We measured and analyzed the signals of acoustic waves using acoustic two types sensors with 125KHz and 50KHz resonant frequency respectively when the particles were dropped on the surfaces of circular plates and inside of GlS tanks. We found that the difference between peak outputs of two sensors depended on the types and materials of particles and the conditions of dropping position. These results showed that the outputs of 125KHz sensor were higher than those of 50KHz sensor in circular plate and 362㎸ GIS tank made of steel and vice versa in circular plate and 800㎸ GIS tank made of aluminum. The ratios outputs of 125KHz sensor to those of 50KHz sensor were 1.4 - 2.37 in 800㎸ GIS tank and were 0.5 - 1.0 in 362㎸ GIS tank. Therefore we knew that adaption of two types acoustic sensors which had different resonant frequencies as a very useful method in diagnosis of GIS.

This paper reports the simulation results of piezoelectric microspeakers due to structural changes(diaphragm materials, corrugation width and electrode shapes). When we compared the dependence of diaphragm material properties, the microspeaker with LTO(Low Temperature Oxide) diaphragm shows higher deflection than that of silicon nitride diaphragm, even though the resonant frequencies are almost same in both cases. In case of circular-electrode microspeaker, the deflection of diaphragm is about $16\;{\mu}m$ at 20 V, and it decreases as the corrugation width is decreased. However, the deflection of diaphragm with the square-electrode reveals almost twice times higher value at the same applied voltage than the circular one, and it increases as the corrugation depths are decreased from $30\;{\mu}m\;to\;10\;{\mu}m$. The first resonant frequency of microspeakers present about 1.8 kHz in circular-electrode and 1.2 kHz in square-electrode, respectively.
