An efficient numerical model of the modified mild slope equation, based on the robust iterative method is presented. The model developed is verified against other numerical experimental results, related to wave reflection from an arc-shaped bar and wave transformation over a circular shoal. The results show that the modified mild slope equation model is capable of producing accurate results for wave propagation in a region where water depth varies substantially, while the conventional mild slope equation model yeilds large errors, as the mild slope assumption is violated.

To prevent an insulator failure, an automatic cleaning robot was developed for suspension insulator strings. The robot autonomously moves along the insulator string using the clamps installed on its two moving frames, and adopts a dry cleaning method using rotating brushes and a circular motion guide. In addition, a mechanized brush bristles and a voltage-balancing contactor are devised to increase cleaning efficiency and to prevent arc generation under live-line conditions, respectively. Moreover, a manual tool for its installation and removal is presented. We confirmed its effectiveness through experiments.
This paper presents a new curvature based kinematic displacement theory and a numerical method to calculate the planar displacement of structures from a geometrical viewpoint. The theory provides an opportunity to satisfy the kinematic equilibrium of a planar structure using a progressive numerical approach, in which the cross sections are assumed to remain plane, and the deflection curve was evaluated geometrically using the curvature values despite being solved using differential equations. The deflection curve is parameterized with the arc-length, and was taken as an assembly of the chains of circular arcs. Fast and accurate solutions of most complex deflections can be obtained with few inputs.
I investigate the origin of arc degeneracies in satellite microlens parallax ${\pi}_E$ measurements with only late time data, e.g., t > $t_0+t_E$ as seen from the satellite. I show that these are due to partial overlap of a series of osculating, exactly circular, degeneracies in the ${\pi}_E$ plane, each from a single measurement. In events with somewhat earlier data, these long arcs break up into two arclets, or (with even earlier data) two points, because these earlier measurements give rise to intersecting rather than osculating circles. The two arclets (or points) then constitute one pair of degeneracies in the well-known four-fold degeneracy of space-based microlens parallax. Using this framework of intersecting circles, I show that next-generation microlens satellite experiments could yield good ${\pi}_E$ determinations with only about five measurements per event, i.e., about 30 observations per day to monitor 1500 events per year. This could plausibly be done with a small (hence cheap, in the spirit of Gould & Yee 2012) satellite telescope, e.g., 20 cm.

In this paper, an analysis and design method is proposed, which is to improve the directivity of microstrip array antennas conformed to a cylindrical surface. In the case of forming an arc-array in the circumferential direction on a circula-cylinder surface, the circular-cylinder can be approximated to a polygonal-pillar and on each pillar-planes the sub-arrays, Dolph-Tschebyscheff array and uniform array with a beam steered in the desired direction, would make a sharp directivity for the total cylin- drical array antenna. And the radiation pattern according to the type of its sub arrays is analyzed and compared using the cylindrical-cavity codel. A cylindrical microstrip array antenna, with 12 elements and uniform arra as a sub-array which have an equal distance$\lambda_0$/2between the elements, is manufactured and conformed to a cylinder with radius of 6 The measured data of side lobe level, HPBW and FNBW are - 13dB, $9^{\circ}$, and $15{\circ}$, ,respectively. This result shows a good improvement on the directivity comparing with a linear array.

This paper presents the preliminary results of an experimental study on surface crack growth under fatigue loadings. The objective of this paper is to assess the effect of the initial crack size on crack propagation behaviors. Transparent PMMA plate speciments with shallow circular arc notch were used. Crack growth behaviors were observed and measured in two directions by travelling microscopes. The fatigue crack initiated at the deepest part on the initial arc shaped notch and then propagated to depth direction as well as spreading gradually along the notch tip. A considerable number of cycles was needed until the depth crack spreaded to the surface notch tip. When the fatigue crack reached the surface notch tip the crack front became an approximate semi-ellipse, primary semi-elliptical crack. Test results suggest that the relationships between fatigue crack growth rate and stress intensity factor range in both directions can be expressed by power law (Paris) and that relationship in width direction depends upon the crack ratios a$_{1}$/b$_{1}$, of the primary semi-elliptical crack. The relationship between the nondimensional crack lengths in both directions can be represented as the formula: (a/t)$^{n}$ =B(2b/W+A) where n and A are constants and B is seems to be depended upon the crack ratio a$_{1}$/b$_{1}$.
Path driving tests are necessary for the development of self-driving cars or robots. These tests are being conducted in simulation as well as real environments. In particular, for development using reinforcement learning and deep learning, development through simulators is also being carried out when data of various environments are needed. To this end, it is necessary to utilize not only manually designed paths but also various randomly and automatically designed paths. This test site design can be used for actual construction and manufacturing. In this paper, we introduce a method for randomly generating a driving test path consisting of a combination of arcs and segments. This consists of a method of determining whether there is a collision by obtaining the distance between an arc and a line segment, and an algorithm that deletes part of the path and recreates an appropriate path if it is impossible to continue the path.

The treatment planning and dosimetry of small fields for stereotactic radiosurgery with 10 MV x-ray isocentrically mounted linear accelerator is presented. Special consideration in this study was given to the variation of absorbed dose with field size, the central axis percent depth doses and the combined moving beam dose distribution. The collimator scatter correction factors of small fields $(1\times1\~3\times3cm^2)$ were measured with ion chamber at a target chamber distance of 300cm where the projected fields were larger than the polystyrene buildup caps and it was calibrated with the tissue equivalent solid state detectors of small size (TLD, PLD, ESR and semiconductors). The central axis percent depth doses for $1\timesl\;and\;3\times3cm^2$ fields could be derived with the same acuracy by interpolating between measured values for larger fields and calculated zero area data, and it was also calibrated with semiconductor detectors. The agreement between experimental and calculated data was found to be under $2\%$ within the fields. The three dimensional dose planning of stereotactic focusing irradiation on small size tumor regions was performed with dose planning computer system (Therac 2300) and was verified with film dosimetry. The more the number of strips and the wider the angle of arc rotation, the larger were the dose delivered on tumor and the less the dose to surrounding the normal tissues. The circular cone, we designed, improves the alignment, minimizes the penumbra of the beam and formats ball shape of treatment area without stellate patterns. These dosimetric techniques can provide adequate physics background for stereotactic radiosurgery with small radiation fields and 10MV x-ray beam.

This paper aims at investigating the effect of steel ratio and the magnitude of edge-ratio on the mechanical characteristics of reinforced concrete ring sector plate. The influence of steel bars was taken into account by coupling stiffness matrix of the steel bar element with that of the concrete plate element without dealing with separate element of steel bar and by establishing the composite stiffness matrix, which leads to the desirable result which does not increase th number of element could be obtained. Through case studies with 6 cases various steel ratios in ring sector plate supported at four edges and 4 cases with different open angles, the influence of the steel ratio was examined. A numerical analysis to find out the effect of the steel ratio d ue to above mentioned cases was carried out by 4 boundary conditions ; all edges clamped (B.C-1), all edges simply supported (B.C-2), curvilinear two edges clamped and other edges free (B.C-3) and curvilinear two edges simply supported and other edges free(B.C-4). The main results obtained are summarized as follows : 1. The effect of steel ratio on the magnitude of lateral deflection and x-directional bending moment at the center of sector plate and the midpoint of outer and inner curvilinear edges is almost the same up to $30^{\circ}$ of open angle. Beyond $30^{\circ}$ of the angle, the larger the angle, the greater the effect of ratio. 2. In design works using balanced steel ratio, the effect of steel bar can be ignored. But for larger open angles, especially greater than $90^{\circ}$, it proves desirable to consider the effect of steel bar. 3. The effect of the arc length of center circle/straight edge on lateral deflection and bending moment is remarkable in B.C-2. For larger open angle, the effect is also noted except for B.C-3 which turn out hardly affected. 4. The effect of the radius of curvature/straight side length on lateral deflection and x-directional bending moment is noted in B.C-2. As open angle increases, B.C-1 and B.C-3 almost agree and B.C-2 approaches B.C-4.

Purpose : For the purpose of quality assurance of self-developed stereotactic radiosurgery system, a multi-purpose phantom was fabricated, and accuracy of radiation dose distribution during radiosurgery was measured using this phantom. Materials and Methods : A farmer chamber, a 0.125 cc ion chamber and a diode detector were used for the dosimetry. Six MV x-ray from a linear accelerator (CL2100C, Varian) with stereotactic radiosurgery technique (Green Knife) was used, and multi-purpose phantom was attached to a stereotactic frame (Fisher type). Dosimetry was done by combinations of locations of the detectors in the phantom, fixed or arc beams, gantry angles $(20^{\circ}\~100^{\circ})$, and size of the circular tertiary collimators (inner diameters of $10\~40\;mm$). Results : The measurement error was less than $0.5\%$ by Farmer chamber, $0.5\%$ for 0.125 cc ion chamber, and less than $2\%$ for diode detector for the fixed beam, single arc beam, and 5-arc beam setup. Conclusion : We confirmed the accuracy of dose distribution with the radiosurgery system developed in our institute and the data from this study would be able to be effectively used for the improvement of quality assurance of stereotactic radiosurgery or fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy system.
