Methods : During the patient with OPLL was treated CHUNA manual therapy, acupuncture, and physical therapy, we examined cervical X-ray, CT and Moire topography and evaluated the patient's symptoms by VAS. And we observed whether the changes exist or not in X-ray and VAS. Results : VAS in symptoms was improved significantly(p<0.05), and the radiologic X-ray image in OPLL patient was improved. Conclusion : OPLL was generally treated conservative treatment and operation in severe case. But CHUNA manual therapy may be more effective in conservative treatment of OPLL, if more clinical studies and reaches are accomplished.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of cervical Chuna treatment for Bell's palsy. Methods : We investigated 30 patients with Bell's palsy who had visited at Department of Acupuncture & Moxibustion, of Korean Medicine Hospital Dong-Eui University from June $1_{st}$, 2013 to April $15_{th}$, 2014. Subjects were randomly divided into two groups. Group A(experimental group) was treated by Korean-Western combination treatment with Cervical Chuna treatment and group B(control group) was treated by Korean-Western combination treatment without it. The cervical Chuna treatment was done twice a week, for a total of 8 times. We evaluated the change of each group by using Yanagihara's unweighed grading system. Results : Yanagihara's score in group A was significantly improved during each period from the first visit to four weeks later. However, Yanagihara's score in group B was significantly improved except during first week. The improvement of Yanagihara's score in group A is higher than group B during every period. And significant differences were shown after two weeks from the first visit between the two groups. Conclusions : These results suggest that cervical Chuna treatment may be effective for Bell's palsy.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to provide a clinical evidence base for the effectiveness of the muscle energy technique (MET) for cervicalgia. Methods : We conducted a search of 10 electronic databases up to April 2019. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that performed the MET for cervicalgia were included. The risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane risk of bias (RoB) tool. Results : Six RCTs met the inclusion criteria. The literature review of these studies showed favorable results for the use of the MET in comparison to other manual medicines. Conclusions : In 6 RCTs, we found that the MET was effective in cervicalgia treatment. However, most of the included studies had an unclear risk of bias. Therefore, well-designed RCTs are necessary to obtain a higher evidence level of the MET use in cervicalgia.

  • Objectives: To evaluate the evidence supporting the effectiveness and safety of Chinese medicine, including Chuna manual therapy, for the treatment ofosteoarthritis. Methods: We conducted a search of 8 electronic databases(Pubmed, Web of Science, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, CAJ, KISTI, NDSL, and RISS) to find all randomized controlled clinical trials that discuss Chuna manual therapy forosteoarthritis till May 2018. Results: Our inclusion criteria selected 7eligible RCTs involving 633 participants. The meta-analysis of 6 studies showed positive results for the useof Chinese medicine, including Chuna manual therapy, for treating knee osteoarthritis. There was no evidence of worsening symptoms or any adverse events. Conclusions: Our systematic review found favorable evidence regardingthe effectiveness of Chinese medicine, including Chuna manual therapy, for treating knee osteoarthritis. However, our systematic review had several limitations owingto the low quality of original articles andadditionalclinical trials would be necessary for stronger evidence.

  • Objectives : This study reports the clinical case of a patient diagnosed with ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament treated with Korean Medicine focusing on Chuna therapy. Methods : The patient was treated by a doctor from July 18th, 2019 to November 28th, 2019. The patient was diagnosed with ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament based on magnetic resonance imaging results and was recommended to undergo surgery at another hospital. The primary complaint of the patient was left neck pain, left arm sensation, right leg sensation, and right leg loss of strength. The doctor treated the patient with Chuna therapy, acupuncture, cupping, herbal medicine, and pharmacopuncture. The effect of treatment was evaluated using visual analogue scale, neck disability index, pain rating score and Japanese Orthopedic Association score. Spurling, compression, and distraction tests were utilized. Results : Visual analogue scale decreased from 10 at the arm and 10 at the leg to 1 and 2, respectively. Neck disability index decreased from 25 to 11, pain rating score decreased from 66 to 1, and Japanese Orthopedic Association score recovered from 12 to 17 points. In addition, positive spurling test, compression test, and distraction test all improved to negative. Conclusions : Korean medicine treatment can be effective for ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament patients, even when surgery is recommended. Further clinical studies, such as case series and case-control studies, are required to verify these findings.
