절삭 선단의 축 방향 경사각이 가공성 세라믹에 미치는 영향 (Effect on Axial Rake Angle of Cutting Edge for Machinable Ceramics)

  • The machining process of ceramics can be characterized by cracking and brittle fracture. In the machining of ceramics, edge chipping and crack propagation are the principal reasons to cause surface integrity deterioration. Such phenomenon can cause not only poor dimensional and geometric accuracy, but also possible failure of the ceramic parts. Thus, traditional ceramics are very difficult-to-cut materials. Generally, ceramics are machined using conventional method such as grinding and polishing. However these processes are generally costly and have low MRR(material removal rate). To overcome such problems, in this paper, h-BN powder, which gives good cutting property, is added for the fabrication of machinable ceramics by volume of 10 and 15%. The purpose of this study is an analysis of endmill's rake angle for appropriate tools design and manufacturing for the machinable ceramics. In this study, Experimental works are executed to measure cutting force, surface roughness, tool fracture, on different axial rake angle of endmills. Cutting parameters, namely, feed, cutting speed and depth of cut are used to accomplish purpose of this paper. Required experiments are performed, and the results are investigated.

공압식 헤머피닝을 이용한 용접부 피로수명 연장기술 연구 (Research for Fatigue Life Extension Techniques in Weldments via Pneumatic Hammer Peening)

  • Fatigue failures are often occurred at welded joints where stress concentrations are relatively high due to the joint geometry. Although employing good detail design practices by upgrading the welded detail class enables to improve the fatigue performance, in many cases, the modification of the detail may not be practicable. As an alternative, the fatigue life extension techniques that reduce the severity of the stress concentration at the weld toe region, remove imperfections and introduce local compressive welding residual stress, have been applied. These techniques are also used as definite measures to extend the fatigue life of critical welds that have failed prematurely and have been repaired. In this study, a hammer peening procedure for using commercial pneumatic chipping hammer was developed, and the effectiveness is quantitatively evaluated. The pneumatic hammer peening makes it possible to give the weld not only a favorable shape reducing the local stress concentration, but also a beneficial compressive residual stress into material surface. In the fatigue life calculation of non-load carrying cruciform specimen treated by the pneumatic hammer peening, the life was lengthened about ten times at a stress range of 240MPa, and fatigue limit increased over 65% for the as-welded specimen.

  • Recently, biomass application for energy is getting more interests from many countries since biomass is widely available over the nation wide, whereas fossil fuels are produced in several limited regions. Recognizing the importance, government is promoting renewable energy use in Korea. The locational characteristics of the existing biomass potential directly can be used to decide scale of power plant for local agricultural facility. Although there are a few studies on feasible biomass potential in local areas, it is expected that both government and commercial sectors recognize the potential of biomass energy and the importance of reducing greenhouse gases. When planning biomass energy systems, biomass price is determined by the costs of collection, transportation, chipping, drying if required. In this paper investigates the economic and spatial characteristic of biomass location by land use map. However typical area of each categories in local region is not correct to agricultural census data. Therefore we concerned about how to calculate feasible biomass potential which it can be describing total amount of plant scale, and to match both of data. Even though its spatial distribution, in rural area in Korea, to expand biomass energy programs in the area, government serve to find areas of higher biomass production with suitable locations for plants to convert to bio-energy in order to increase the usage of renewable energy.

고온 이산화탄소 분위기에서 316 L 스테인리스강의 부식 거동 (High-Temperature Corrosion Behavior of 316 L Stainless Steel in Carbon Dioxide Environment)

  • Evaluation of the durability and stability of materials used in power plants is of great importance because parts or components for turbines, heat exchangers and compressors are often exposed to extreme environments such as high temperature and pressure. In this work, high-temperature corrosion behavior of 316 L stainless steel in a carbon dioxide environment was studied to examine the applicability of a material for a supercritical carbon dioxide Brayton cycle as the next generation power plant system. The specimens were exposed in a high-purity carbon dioxide environment at temperatures ranging from 500 to $800^{\circ}C$ during 1000 hours. The features of the corroded products were examined by optical microscope and scanning electron microscope, and the chemical compound was determined by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results show that while the 316 L stainless steel had good corrosion resistance in the range of $500-700^{\circ}C$ in the carbon dioxide environment, the corrosion resistance at $800^{\circ}C$ was very poor due to chipping the corroded products off, which resulted in a considerable loss in weight.

  • Stainless steel is being used widely lor various purposes due to its good corrosion resistance. There has becn much research to produce colored stainless sterl by several methods. In this experiment, we coated TixN film on the SUS304 substrate with thc DC magnetron sputtering system and studied the internal structurc and adhesive strength of the films as a function of the coating conditions. Before lhe specimen was coated, a sputter etching was very effective in removing the$\delta$ Fe(BCC) phase as well as the contaminant and oxide layer as well as increasing rotghness. Five-stage failure mode appeared with increased scratch load with the TIN films coated on the SUS304 in this manner ; tensile failure-,conformal failure-,buckling failure->chipping failurc and spalling Failure. When the failure was terminated at the initial stage, the film will have good adhesion. But, if syalling failure has occurred at the initial scratch, then the adhesion will be poor. The interlayer between thc coated film and thc substratc was homogeneously adhcsive when the $\gamma'-Fe_4N$ phase wasn't detected in the XRD analysis and the adhesive strength only was reduced by surPace defects. But, when the ,$\gamma'-Fe_4N$N phasc was detected in the XRD analysis, the adhesive strength was very poor.

절단 유리판의 표면결함에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Surface Defects of Scribed Glass Sheets)

  • This paper presents the surface defect analysis based on the experimental investigation of scribed glasses. The scribing process by a diamond wheel cutter is widely used as a reliable and inexpensive method for sizing of glass sheets. The wheel cutter generates a small median crack on the glass surface, which is then propagated through the glass thickness for complete separation. The surface contour patterns in which are formed during a scribing process are strongly related to wheel cutter parameters such as wheel tip surface finish, tip angle and wheel diameter, and cutting process parameters such as scribing pressure, speed and tooling technique. The scribed surface of a glass sheet provides normal Wallner lines, which represent regular median cracks and crack propagation in glass thickness, and abnormal surface roughness patterns. In this experimental study, normal and abnormal surface topographic patterns are classified based on the surface defect profiles of scribed glass sheets. A normal surface of a scribed glass sheet shows regular Wallner lines with deep median cracks. But some specimens of scribed glass sheets show that abnormal surface profiles of glass sheets in two pieces are represented by a chipping, irregular surface cracks in depth, edge cracks, and combined crack defects. These surface crack patterns are strongly related to easy breakage of the scribed glass imposed by external forces. Thus the scribed glass with abnormal crack patterns should be removed during a quality control process based on the surface defect classification method as demonstrated in this study.

  • These days embedded technology may be the most significant development in the electronics industry. The study focused on the development of active device embedding using flexible printed circuit in view of process and materials. The authors fabricated 30um thickness Si chip without any crack, chipping defects with a dicing before grinding process. In order to embed chips into flexible PCB, the chip pads on a chip are connected to bonding pad on flexible PCB using an ACF film. After packaging, all sample were tested by the O/S test and carried out the reliability test. All samples passed environmental reliability test. In the future, this technology will be applied to the wearable electronics and flexible display in the variety of electronics product.

  • 본 연구에서는 공구의 파손 및 마멸량을 검출할 수 있는 시스템을 구축하고자 하였다. CCD(charge coupled device)카메라를 통해 공구형상의 영상을 얻고 이를 PC 로 분석하는 영상처리 기법과, 여기서 계산된 정보를 이용하여 패턴인식 기법으로 공 구의 상태를 판정하는 알고리즘을 개발하였다.

  • 원자력발전소에서 사용되고 있는 연료봉은 지르코늄 합금 튜브에 동봉되어 있는 이산화우라늄 펠릿으로 구성되어 있다. 펠릿 표면은 원자로를 가동시키는 동안 국부 핫스팟을 예방하기 위해 튜브로 장전된 후 작은 구멍, 균열, 칩핑 결함이 없어야 한다. 본 논문은 X-선 단층촬영 시뮬레이션을 통하여 핵 연료봉 펠릿의 표면 결함을 검출하기 위한 타당성을 조사하였다. 병렬과 팬빔 여과후 역투영 방법을 이용하여 재구성된 영상은 시뮬레이션 데이터와 MPS(missing pellet surface) 영상데이터의 접근성을 확인하였다.

표면 부식 처리한 WS2 입자를 첨가한 Cu/Sn계 다이아몬드 마이크로 블레이드의 절삭특성 (Evaluation of Dicing Characteristics of Diamond Micro-blades with Cu/Sn Binder Including Etched WS2 Particles)

  • $WS_2$ particles were added to micro-diamond blades with Cu/Sn binding metal as lubricants to improve cutting efficiency. It was found in previous works that the added $WS_2$ lubricant could reduce remarkably the momentary energy consumption during dicing tests but increased wear rate slightly owing to weak bonding between lubricant particles and bond metals. In the present work, the surface of $WS_2$ lubricant particles were etched for activating the surface of $WS_2$ particles that provide even distribution of particles during powder mixing process and improvement of wetting at the interfaces between $WS_2$ particles and molten Cu/Sn bond metals during pressurized sintering so that could provide the improved strength of micro-blades and result in extended life. Chipping behavior of workpiece with the types of micro-blades including $WS_2$ were compared because it is important in semiconductor and micro-packaging industries to control average roughness and straightness of sliced surface which is closely related with quality.
