We use two development kits. The one is embedded kit that using Intel's Xscale device, the another is SOPC kit that using Altera's Excalibur device. We implement some device logic that DMAC, ADCC, etc. and application.
In this paper, a new micro polymer chip platform and protocol were developed for rare cell sample preparation. The proposed platform and protocol overcome the current limitation of the dilution method which is based on statistics and the FACS method which expensive and requires fluorescence staining. It allows collecting exact number of target cells simply and selectively because the cells are visually confirmed during the collecting process. The collected cells can be transported or spiked into a desired locations, such as a microchamber, without cell loss. This research may applicable not only to a rare cell sample preparation for Lab on a Chip cancer diagnosis, but also to a single/double/multiple cell sample preparation for a cell analysis field. To verify this platform and protocol, five human breast cancer cells (MCF-7) were collected and transported into a hemocytometer chamber.
Hanwoo cattle are a unique and historical breed in Korea that have been genetically improved and maintained by the national evaluation and selection system. The aim of this study was to provide information that can help improve the accuracy of the estimated breeding values in Hanwoo cattle by showing the difference between the imputation reference chip platforms of genomic data and the scaling factor of the genetic relationship matrix (GRM). In this study, nine sets of data were compared that consisted of 3 reference platforms each with 3 different scaling factors (-0.5, 0 and 0.5). The evaluation was performed using MTG2.0 with nine different GRMs for the same number of genotyped animals, pedigree, and phenotype data. A five multi-trait model was used for the evaluation in this study which is the same model used in the national evaluation system. Our results show that the Hanwoo custom v1 platform is the best option for all traits, providing a mean accuracy improvement by 0.1 - 0.3%. In the case of the scaling factor, regardless of the imputation chip platform, a setting of -1 resulted in a better accuracy increased by 0.5 to 1.6% compared to the other scaling factors. In conclusion, this study revealed that Hanwoo custom v1 used as the imputation reference chip platform and a scaling factor of -0.5 can improve the accuracy of the estimated breeding value in the Hanwoo population. This information could help to improve the current evaluation system.
In this paper, we describe photonic sensor interface and driver program based on SOPC(System on a programmable chip) platform. This platform uses device that has ARM922T processor and APEX FPGA area on a chip. As for driver program development, three different methods are tried such as simple firmware, real-time OS based program and embedded Linux based program, and results are compared for SoC implementation.
In this paper, we present a performance analysis for an MPEG-4 video codec based on the on-chip network communication architecture. The existing on-chip buses of system-on-a-chip (SoC) have some limitation on data traffic bandwidth since a large number of silicon IPs share the bus. An on-chip network is introduced to solve the problem of on-chip buses, in which the concept of a computer network is applied to the communication architecture of SoC. We compared the performance of the MPEG-4 video codec based on the on-chip network and Advanced Micro-controller Bus Architecture (AMBA) on-chip bus. Experimental results show that the performance of the MPEG-4 video codec based on the on-chip network is improved over 50% compared to the design based on a multi-layer AMBA bus.
In order for medical devices to be used outside hospital, they have to be not only of small size but also power consumption has to be kept at low level. This study investigates the feasibility of application of ADS1298 ECG single-chip solution developed by Texas Instruments Inc. for use in development of a new platform for diagnostic resting ECG. To prove the feasibility of commercial products based on the ADS1298 chip, the performance of the ADS1298 chip was measured in terms of input impedance, common mode rejection, frequency response, and input dynamic range using the testing method under the suitability criteria of the IEC 60601-2-25 standard. Result of the this study shows that commercialization of the ECG products based on the ADS1298 ECG single-chip solution that satisfies the international standards would be possible, if the manufactures take the filter characteristics into account in building a new platform for diagnostic resting ECG.
This article proposes a framework to elucidate the structural dynamics of the generative AI ecosystem. It also outlines the practical application of this proposed framework through illustrative policies, with a specific emphasis on the development of the Korean generative AI ecosystem and its implications of platform strategies at AI platform-squared. We propose a comprehensive classification scheme within generative AI ecosystems, including app builders, technology partners, app stores, foundational AI models operating as operating systems, cloud services, and chip manufacturers. The market competitiveness for both app builders and technology partners will be highly contingent on their ability to effectively navigate the customer decision journey (CDJ) while offering localized services that fill the gaps left by foundational models. The strategically important platform of platforms in the generative AI ecosystem (i.e., AI platform-squared) is constituted by app stores, foundational AIs as operating systems, and cloud services. A few companies, primarily in the U.S. and China, are projected to dominate this AI platform squared, and consequently, they are likely to become the primary targets of non-market strategies by diverse governments and communities. Korea still has chances in AI platform-squared, but the window of opportunities is narrowing. A cautious approach is necessary when considering potential regulations for domestic large AI models and platforms. Hastily importing foreign regulatory frameworks and non-market strategies, such as those from Europe, could overlook the essential hierarchical structure that our framework underscores. Our study suggests a clear strategic pathway for Korea to emerge as a generative AI powerhouse. As one of the few countries boasting significant companies within the foundational AI models (which need to collaborate with each other) and chip manufacturing sectors, it is vital for Korea to leverage its unique position and strategically penetrate the platform-squared segment-app stores, operating systems, and cloud services. Given the potential network effects and winner-takes-all dynamics in AI platform-squared, this endeavor is of immediate urgency. To facilitate this transition, it is recommended that the government implement promotional policies that strategically nurture these AI platform-squared, rather than restrict them through regulations and stakeholder pressures.
This paper designed and manufactured a chip mounter based on 3D printer technology that can be used for educational research or sample production to disseminate chip mounter, a core technology of SMT line. A stepper motor with open loop control is used for low cost drive design. The shortcomings of the motor's vibration and disassembly caused by the use of the step motor were compensated by the Micro-Step control method. In the chip mounter experiment, the gerber file was generated on the small chip mounter, printed at the actual size, and the solder cream was printed on the HASL-treated PCB in the same manner as the sample board fabrication. As a result of the experiment, unlike the 2012 micro components, parts such as SOIC and TQFP that require correction are twice as long as the component mounting time, but it can be confirmed that they are mounted relatively accurately. In addition, as a result of repeatedly measuring the error of the initial position 10 times, it was confirmed that a relatively small error of about 0.110mm occurs.

Smart card has a small sized micro computer chip. This chip contains processor, RAM, ROM, clock, bus system and crypto-co-processor. Hence it is more expensive, complicated and secure chip compared with RFID tag. The main application area of smart card is e-banking and secure communications. There are two kinds of smart card platforms; open platform and closed one. Java card is the most popular open platform because of its security, platform independency, fast developing cycle. However, the speed of Java card is slower than other ones, hence there have been hot research topics to improve the performance of Java card. In this paper, we propose an efficient transaction buffer management to improve the performance of Java card. The experimental result shows the advantage of our method.
In this paper, we present the wet-based monitoring system for industrial controller such as inverter controller for hydraulic elevators. The monitoring system is using an embedded web server on embedded Linux platform. The control board of system-On-Chip (SoC) is based on ARM7TDMI with Ethernet controller. Wet-based monitoring system using embedded Linux platform can reduce the cost, and have flexibility both of technical issues and locations If the system to be monitored. The system shows the feasibility of remote monitoring system based on embedded Linux platform.
