The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception and need for the revised child care practicum (January, 2017) in Korea. The participants were in three groups: 32 directors, 143 child care teachers and 130 pre-service teachers. Questionnaire were used ot collect the data and t-test, x-test and ANOVA were done for analysis. All three groups responded positively for the revised edition (extending the period of practicum from 4 weeks to 6 weeks). And perceived the extending the period is necessary for the quality of child care centers. Directors with the higher level of education perceived the revision clearly than others. Most of teachers perceived the change through teacher retraining program. All groups pointed out for the implementing the revised edition successfully, supporting and cooperative system is in need for three groups.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the concentration levels of particle materials ($PM_{10}$, asbestos), gas materials ($CO_2$, CO, $NO_2$, HCHO, Rn, VOCs) and total suspended colony (TSC), and the correlations among these materials in indoor air quality of 54 multiple-use facilities and 15 public-use facilities of Gwangju. The highest mean concentration of $PM_{10}$ was $69.2\;{\mu}g/m^3$ at indoor parking place, followed by childcare facilities, large commercial building and subway station building. The highest mean concentration of CO was 2.7 ppm at indoor parking place and that of $CO_2$ was 604.1 ppm at medical service facilities. The highest mean concentration of $NO_2$ was 0.036 ppm at indoor parking place. The geomean concentration of HCHO was $3.6\;{\mu}g/m^3$ in all facilities and the highest was $631.8\;{\mu}g/m^3$ at art gallery. The geomean concentration of VOCs (5 species) was $24.14\;{\mu}g/m^3$ in all facilities and toluene was the highest material of $15.30\;{\mu}g/m^3$, followed by xylene, ethylbenzene, benzene and styrene. The highest mean concentration of TSC was $625.3\;CFU/m^3$ at jjimjilbang, followed by childcare facilities, medical service facilities and large commercial building. The highest of asbestos was 0.0072 each/cc at childcare facilities and that of radon was 1.41 pCi/L at art gallery. PM10 showed positive correlations to TSC with $R^2\0.5332$ by lognormal equation at childcare facilities. CO2 showed positive correlations to CO at childcare facilities and indoor parking place. Lognormal equation fitted to the VOCs data more than normal equation in all facilities.
This study examined the effects of psychological attributes influencing the happiness of early childhood pre-service teachers. The psychological attributes included positive states(self-efficacy, satisfaction), negative states(depression), and goals for the future(professional goal as a teacher). The objects were 269 early childhood pre-service teachers who were studying in college and university to become early childhood teachers. The results were as follows: First, there were not clear differences in terms of goal content(self, others), whereas there were clear differences in terms of school satisfaction and major interest of childhood pre-service teachers. Second, self-efficacy was positively correlated with happiness and depression was negatively correlated with the happiness of early childhood pre-service teachers. Third, self-efficacy and depression were predicting variables for the happiness of early childhood pre-service teachers. More specifically, depression was the most influential variable when it comes to determining the level of happiness. Thus, implications for improving the happiness of early childhood pre-service teachers were presented.
This qualitative study explores how volunteering to help in early childhood education is conceptualized from the perspectives of three parties involved; university students, university professors, and principals as well as teachers, and children‘s mothers from a local daycare center and a kindergarten. Data was collected through journals, interviews, and several other artifacts, such as student portfolios, and letters from mothers. Findings were as follows: firstly, preservice early childhood teachers defined voluntary activity in early childhood education as a service that requires motivation and responsibility, and as an activity that helps to establish their identities as teachers. Secondly, university professors constructed the system for service learning activities and helped preservice early childhood teachers’ change the view from volunteering activity to volunteering learning. This paper describes the development of a system and algorithms for high-quality welfare services by recognizing behavior development indicators (activity, sociability, danger) in children aged 0 to 2 years old using action recognition technology. Action recognition targeted 11 behaviors from lying down in 0-year-olds to jumping in 2-year-olds, using data directly obtained from actual videos provided for research purposes by three nurseries in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions. A dataset of 1,867 actions from 425 clip videos was built for these 11 behaviors, achieving an average recognition accuracy of 97.4%. Additionally, for real-world application, the Edge Video Analyzer (EVA), a behavior analysis device, was developed and implemented with a region-specific random frame selection-based PoseC3D algorithm, capable of recognizing actions in real-time for up to 30 people in four-channel videos. The developed system was installed in three nurseries, tested by ten childcare teachers over a month, and evaluated through surveys, resulting in a perceived accuracy of 91 points and a service satisfaction score of 94 points.
