Factors Affecting Student Performance in E-Learning: A Case Study of Higher Educational Institutions in Indonesia

  • This study aims to determine the factors influencing student performance using the teaching and learning process through e-learning based on the unified theory of acceptance and use technology (UTAUT). This study also sets out to propose additional variables to expand the UTAUT model to be more suitable to use in higher education. This research conducted a literature review, expert interviews, and a self-administered survey involving 200 students at tertiary institutions in Riau province, Indonesia. The questionnaire data were analyzed using SmartPLS 2. This study shows that UTAUT constructs, namely, social influence, facility conditions, and effort expectancy have a significant influence on student behavior and performance, while the performance expectancy variable shows no significant effect. The additional variables, including lecturer characteristics, external motivation, and organizational structure, directly affect student performance. However, concerning student behavior, motivation and environment are the only variables with a significant effect. The results of this study suggest the behavior deteminant such as lecturer characteristics, motivation and environment, and organizational structure improve student performance. This study investigates factors affecting the performance of university students through the learning employing e-learning by developing the UTAUT constructs to include the lecturer characteristics, motivation and environment, and organizational structure in improving student performance.

Factors Influencing the Motor Development of Children with Cerebral Palsy: Differences in Pediatric Physical Therapists' Perceptions

  • Purpose: The purpose of this article is to identify whether the physical therapists perceive the important factors influencing the motor development in children with cerebral palsy differently. Methods: Study participants included 58 pediatric physical therapists. They were recruited from the internet communities for physical therapists. The data was collected through a web-based questionnaire using Google Documents tool. Questionnaire was focused on the importance (10-point scale) of each factor influencing the motor development in children with cerebral palsy. The mean scale of each factor was compared by itself and according to the participants' career characteristics. Results: The personality characteristics received the least importance rating (6.77) in comparison with other domains (healthcare service: 7.70, family ecology: 7.53, secondary impairment: 7.53, primary impairment: 7.45). In the detailed items, home exercise (8.33) received the highest mean importance rating, while sociability (6.03) received the lowest mean importance rating. Comparing the importance of factors by the type of work institution, subjects working in the welfare institutions perceived the contextual factors (personality characteristics, family ecology, healthcare service) as more important than those working in the medical institutions. Conclusion: The authorsuggests that pediatric physical therapists should try to have an identical approach by reaching a consensus. Also, the support for family-centered service to children with cerebral palsy should be strengthened.

  • This paper reviewed the legal bases and characteristics of agricultural extension services and organizational changes during the last fifty years in Korea. It was found that the legal bases extension services were rather weak are very important factors affecting agricultural extension services and organizational structures of agricultural extension institutions. It would be necessary to take legal steps to strengthen agricultural extension services by institute legal proceedings the characteristics of extension organization including the relationships among central, provincial and county level extension services, missions and objectives, personnel and facility management.

한시기관 기록물 관리 법령 및 현황 분석을 통한 개선방안 연구 (A Study on the Improvement Plans of Records Management for Temporary Agencies based on Regulations and Current Status Analysis)

  • 사회적 이슈에 따른 한시기관이 설립이 늘어남에 따라, 한시기관의 특성을 반영한 기록물 관리에 대한 중요성이 부각되고 있다. 그러나 기록물 관리 관련 법령의 모호함, 제한된 업무 인원, 기록물 관리에 대한 인식 부족 등으로 인해 한시기관 기록물 관리가 제대로 수행되고 있지 않다. 이에 본 연구는 법령과 실무 사이의 괴리를 파악하고 이에 대한 개선방안을 도출하고자 한다. 이를 위해 먼저 선행연구를 통해 한시기관의 개념 및 특성을 정립하고, 행정위원회 현황 및 정보공개청구를 통해 다양한 한시기관들의 기록물 관리현황을 파악하였다. 마지막으로 법령에 따라 관련 기관들을 선정, 심층 면담을 실시함으로써 실제 업무를 수행할 때 나타내는 문제점을 도출하였으며 이를 해결하기 위한 방안을 법 제도적 측면, 기록물 관리업무 측면으로 나누어 제안하였다. 본 연구는 한시기관 기록물 관리를 위한 전체 프로세스를 살펴보았다는 점에서 의의가 있으며 제안된 개선안은 향후 한시기관 기록물 관리가 효율적으로 수행될 수 있는 밑거름이 될 것이다.

금융기관 정리절차와 관련된 법률적 고찰과 시사점: 영국 FSMA와 국내 관계법률을 중심으로 (The study of U.K.'s FSMA on the insolvency of financial institutions and implications in South Korea)

  • FSMA 24 규정을 고찰한 결과, 금융기관의 도산과 관련된 규정은 임의정리, 관리명령, 재산관리인, 임의청산, 법정청산, 파산, 채무부인의 금지 규정, 보험업자에 관한 보칙 등으로 구성되며, 각 절차에 따른 FSA의 권한과 책임이 명시되어 있다. 절차마다 약간의 차이는 있으나 전체적으로 FSA는 채권자와 동일한 지위에서 각 도산절차에 관한 법원 청구권, 각종 집회참석권, 청취권 등을 행사할 수 있다. 영국과 우리나라의 금융기관 도산과 관련된 규정의 차이점 및 시사점을 요약하면, 첫째, 영국은 FSA의 금융기관 도산 절차와 관련된 권한의 행사 주체가 FSA(Financial Services Authority)로 통일되어 있으나, 우리나라의 경우, 각 특별법에 따라 금융기관 정리 방법이 여러 기관으로 분산되어 있어서 관련절차의 행사 주체가 금융위원회, 금융감독원, 예금보험공사 등으로 혼재되어 나타난다. 이는 외환위기 이후 금융개혁의 조속한 시행을 위해 금융기관 정리와 관련된 입법활동을 서둘러 시행하면서 나타난 특징으로 볼 수 있다. 둘째, FSA는 금융기관 도산과 관련된 보험업종의 특성을 고려하여 계약유지에 관한 특별규정이 포함되었으나 우리나라는 규정상 업종별 차이 또는 금융 계약의 특징 등을 고려하지 않고 있어 향후 이에 대한 보완이 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

단체 급식소 원가 구조에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Cost Structure of Foodservice Center in Institutions)

  • The current study aims to help field managers of companies providing foodservice for institutions to establish the more appropriate cost management strategy by analyzing the cost structure of foodservice center in institutions by operating types and the number of people served. From the result analyzing 161 foodservice centers, the number of factories was highest with 39.8% while offices 26.7%, schools 20.5%, and hospitals 13%. In terms of the number of people served, below 500 persons was 27.6%, 501${\sim}$l,000 persons was 23.9%, 1,001${\sim}$2,000 persons was 22.7%, and over 2,001 persons was 25%. In the demographic characteristics of managers, women occupied over 92%. The reason for this is usually dieticians perform management duties. For the age of workers, 70.8% were older than 40s, which ran become the cause of a rise in cost by causing the decrease of productivity by aging. Therefore, appropriate countermeasures are required. In case of workers in production, women occupy 962 persons (82.2%) rating absolute majority like mangers. This is because cooks are in charge of almost every producing activity of meal facilities. In addition, more than 72.9% of workers in production were over 40 years old, which requires diversified studies to promote efficiency of production associated with the aging problem. In proportion of sales compared with cost material cost presented the highest percentage with 54.5% while labor cost 28.3%, general expenses 9.6% and business profit 7.6%.

PDCA 모형에 기초한 QI활동 평가틀 개발 및 사례분석 (Development of QI Activity Evaluation Framework Based on PDCA and Case Study on Quality Improvement Activities)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to develop an evaluation framework for QI activity in medical institutions and to analyze QI activity cases by applying the developed evaluation framework. Method: A four-phase process was employed to develop the evaluation framework, and a descriptive survey was used for the QI case study. Data were collected in April, 2010 by examining 157 QI activity cases presented at conferences and published in Journal of Korean Society of Quality Assurance in Health Care over the past three years. Developed QI activity evaluation instruments were used for data collection. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 18.0 for Windows program. Result: A QI Activity Evaluation Framework was developed. This framework consisted of 45 items. The department with the highest level of QI participation was the nursing department. The most frequent QI activity theme was patient safety. QI activity levels in Korean medical institutions are relatively equalized without significant differences according to institution characteristics. Conclusions: From the quality aspect of QI activity, more systematic and scientific approaches are required to upgrade QI activity. This study could provide methodological guidelines for QI activity and be useful in setting goals and directions for QI activity in medical institutions in Korea.

1인 미용기업 경영자 역량이 경영성과에 미치는 영향 -미용교육기관의 조절효과를 중심으로- (Effect of single-person beauty company's managerial capabilities on management performance -Focusing on the moderating effects of beauty education institutions-)

  • 본 연구는 1인 미용기업의 경영자 역량은 경영성과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지, 1인 미용기업의 경영자 역량은 경영성과 사이에서 미용교육기관의 조절 효과가 있는지 확인하고 관련 시사점을 제시하는 것이다. 연구를 위한 설문조사는 2021년 5월 1일부터 5월 31일까지 직접 조사 및 온라인 조사를 병행하였으며, 총 218부를 실증분석에 사용하였다. 분석 결과, 1인 미용기업의 경영자 역량은 심리적 역량, 기술적 역량, 경영관리 역량 3개 요인으로 구분되었고, 모든 요인은 경영성과에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 미용교육기관은 1인 미용기업의 경영자 역량은 경영성과 간의 영향 관계에서 조절효과가 나타나는 것으로 분석되었다. 그러므로 1인 미용기업의 경영자는 경영성과에 영향을 미치는 경영자 역량의 향상을 위하여 다양한 노력을 기울여야 할 것이며, 무엇보다도 각각의 역량에 필요한 교육기관을 선택하는 것도 중요하리라 생각된다.

공공기관의 경영혁신방향 (Directions of Public Institution Innovation in Participatory Government)

  • 핵심 사업에 독점적 지위를 보장받는 공기관은 비효율적인 경영의 소지가 많다 역대 정부는 공공기관의 혁신을 위한 다양한 노력을 했다. 참여정부는 기획예산처를 통해 공공기관의 혁신을 추진하였으며, 공공기관 경영혁신의 문제점은 다음과 같다. 즉, 혁신에 대한 공감대 형성 부족과 의식전환 미흡, 경영혁신을 위한 시스템 혁신과제보다는 점진적 과제추진, 다양한 성격의 공공기관에 대한 특성 고려 미흡, 평가제도의 중복과 평가지표의 추상적 설계 등이다. 이러한 문제를 개선하기 위해 새 정부가 추진해야 할 과제는 다양하다. 즉, 획기적인 경영인식의 전환과 직원들의 자발적인 참여, 공공기관의 관리체계 개선, 공공기관의 과감한 영역조정, 경영평가제도의 개선, 내부경쟁 활성화 및 성과중심의 경영시스템 구축 등이다. 특히, 국민적 지지와 공감을 얻으면서 성공적으로 안착하기 위한 새 정부의 공공기관 혁신방향은 효과적인 실천전략과 실질적인 과제가 뒷받침 되어야 한다.

시설 거주 정신장애인의 자부심과 자기표현 향상을 위한 집단프로그램 개발 및 효과에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Group Program for Improving Self-Esteem and Assertiveness of the Chronically Mentally Ill Living in the Institutions)

  • It is a recent trend to emphasize community services for the rehabilitation of the mentally ill. However, it is also necessary to provide social work services for those living in the institutions, who is the most underprivileged in our society. To deal with interpersonal skill deficits which is one of the main characteristics of the mentally ill, social skills programs are being utilized, usually in the communities, but not in the institutions. Therefore, the objective of this study is to develop and evaluate institution-relevant program for the improvement of assertiveness, which is the basic ability among the interpersonal skills, and self-esteem, which is the emotional basis of assertiveness. Because there has been little literature on such a program, a preliminary program had been implemented in order to include the peculiarities of the life in the institutions on the main program. The evaluation of the program effect was done by pretest-post test control group design, and its results are as follows. Firstly, in regard to program effectiveness, the pre and post test showed that self-esteem improved in a statistically meaningful way, but that assertiveness did not so. However, the staff verified the improvement of the group members' assertiveness to some degree in their actual lives. Secondly, in regard to the group process, the group interaction improved in a statistically meaningful way between 2nd and 5th session, and the improvement maintained till the program termination. Also the group members evaluated the program as helpful in their everyday lives. Therefore it can be said that the result of this program is encouraging. In light of this, several suggestions were made: utilizing more dynamic techniques in the program; developing the advanced level of the program; making an effort to change environmental structures as well as individuals; applying this kind of program to another living facilities such as those for the homeless or handicapped.
