심청전을 모티브로한 한국형 캐릭터 개발 및 제안 (Development and Proposal of Korean Character Based on the Story of Shim Cheong as a Motif)

  • This study aimed to develop and propose a Korean character group with the story of Shim Cheong applied as a motif. By borrowing the four stories (a dream of the birth of a child, filial behavior, regeneration and eyesight-gaining) presented in the story of Shim Cheong which has been passed on orally, the study designed the Korean character group and set up types of characters' roles to visualize these other characters seen in the content such as Shim Cheong the heroine, goblins, a baby dragon, Mr. Shim the blind and others. As a next step, the study applied the types to the seven essential types of Vogler's original characters. A process of how to visualize the group of those characters appearing in the story including Shim Cheong the heroine was offered. In particular, the study concentrates on figuring out how to expand and develop the Shim Cheong character to be this image of one of the most popular Korean princess characters. What this study had discussed will contribute to the field of character production when they try to commercialize characters and develop Korean characters with unique Korean features included.

Real-time Implementation of Character Movement by Floating Hologram based on Depth Video

  • In this paper, we implement to make the character content with the floating hologram. The floating hologram is the one of hologram techniques for projecting the 2D image to represent the 3D image in the air using the glass panel. The floating hologram technique is easy to apply and is used in exhibitions, corporate events, and advertising events. This paper uses both the depth information and the unreal engine for the floating hologram. Simulation results show that this method can make the character content to follow the movement of the user in the real time by capturing the depth video.

경관의 동태성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Dynamic Character of Landscape)

  • The objective of this study is to characterize the landscape retaining dynamic character through the distinction between the spatial structure and the landscape. In this study, the landscape was characterized by the image of environment viewed by human being. Firstly, the landscape was disscussed in terms of such three element as the environment viewed by human being, the psychological detachment from the environment and the meaning of image. Secondly, the dynamic character of the landscape was determined by the comparision between the spatial structure of the static elements and the landscape experience through the case study Soshe garden. In the study found that landscape experience depend on the dynamic viewpoint and human views while the spatial structure is stable and static. This study also found that landscape is an open system which can be diachronically transformed by human value, while spatial structure is a synchronic closed system.

  • 명함을 이용한 전세계적인 고객 관리 시스템을 구축하기 위해 다국어 명함인식기를 개발하였다. 먼저 다양한 언어의 문자인식 및 학습을 위해 Unicode 기반 문자 이미지 DB를 구축하였으며, 다양한 입력 장치를 통해 획득한 명함 영상에 대하여 정확한 데이터를 얻기 위한 다양한 컬러영상 처리 기술이 적용되었다. 다음에 다층 퍼셉트론 신경망, 언어 유형별 개별 문자인식, 각 언어별 명함에 사용된 필드별 키워드 DB를 이용한 후처리를 적용하여 명함 인식률을 향상시켰다.

  • We propose expert system for restoration the original character form of ancient relics based on image processing and computer graphics. Letters engraved in relief like relics and intaglio like curved tombstones and letters engraved in plane or curved part of cultural asset may have been broken by a lot of rubbed copy, a long time and tide. In this paper, we suggest a new method for extracting and recovering the broken letters of cultural asset into an original form by using Z-map, morphological filter, and high frequency filter. Based on the suggested method. we develop the character recovering system.

  • In this paper, we propose methods for character recognition and classification for table items through deep learning. First, table areas are detected in a document image through CNN. After that, table areas are separated by separators such as vertical lines. The text in document is recognized through a neural network combined with CNN and RNN. To correct errors in the character recognition, multiple candidates for the recognized result are provided for a sentence which has low recognition accuracy.

  • 영상은 어린이들의 호기심을 불러일으키고 많은 것을 접하게 하여 자연스러운 학습을 유도한다. 특히 애니메이션은 어린이들을 사회화시킴은 물론, 자아 정체성을 형성하는데 중요한 역할을 한다. 따라서 애니메이션 캐릭터의 젠더 정체성 재현은 중요하다. 애니메이션 캐릭터의 젠더 정체성의 재현 방식은 시각정보를 통한 재현방식과 내러티브를 통한 재현방식으로 나누어 볼 수 있으며, 내러티브를 통한 재현방식이 시각정보의 재현방식을 더욱 확고히 해줌을 알 수 있다. 또한 애니메이션 캐릭터의 젠더 정체성의 양상을 살펴보면, 보수적이고 상업적인 이데올로기를 투영하는 젠더 고정관념과 일치하는 캐릭터와 젠더 고정관념에서 탈피하고자하는 캐릭터로 구분되어 진다. 그러나 젠더 고정관념을 탈피하고자하는 캐릭터의 재현 역시 젠더 역할의 과장이나 희화를 통한 비판에 그치고 있다. 따라서 애니메이션 캐릭터들은, 여성이나 남성으로 구분되는 스테레오타입으로 재현되는 것이 아닌, 하나의 인간으로서의 가치를 주체적으로 형성해 가는, 미래지향적인 젠더 정체성을 가진 캐릭터들로 재현되어야 한다. 미래지향적인 젠더 정체성을 재현하는 애니메이션은 어린이들에게 올바른 자아 개념과 젠더 역할을 심어주며, 이미 획득된 전통적인 젠더 정체성을 완화시키는 역할을 수행한다.

영화 의상에 따른 인물의 이미지 차이 분석 -영화 '악마는 프라다를 입는다'를 대상으로- (A Study on Costume and the Image in Film -focusing on the Movie 'The Devil Wears Prada'-)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of different images of movie costume centering on the actresses. The perfect examples are the characters from the movie "The Devil Wears Prada", in which the film is about the fashion leaders of the world. This study consists of visual data as well as images including some scenes from the movie. The sources were collected from relative media, articles in journals, internet sites relating to the movies and photos and we have analyzed differentiated each of the character's wardrobes and its characteristics appearing in each image. The result of this study is as follows. First, the characteristic image of Andy, the main character (Anne Hathaway) in the movie changed dramatically. Andy'swardrobe is focused on the character's makeover in the movie as the character changes from a slob dresser to an assistant of the editor-in-chief of the number one fashion magazine in the world. Each scene definitely shows different styles of the latest premier designers' clothes and accessories. On the other hand, Miranda Priestly appears as the fashion leader and icon throughout the whole movie. Her career look in each scene was very chic and sophisticated in the office while her party dresses were sexy and glamorous in the movie where she was at many of the promotion parties and events. The second analysis of characteristic images of movie costumes is comparing the styles of Andy, Miranda and Emily(the other assistant of Miranda). Andy's wardrobe was divided Into two situations-before working for the magazine and while working for Miranda. As Andy's wardrobe began to upscale, the clothing images of Emily and Miranda became less fashionable. As a result of this study, the movie costumes played a vital role in expressing the changes and differentiating each character's images.

필기체 문자 영상의 이진화에 관한 연구 (A Study on Binarization of Handwritten Character Image)

  • 온라인 필기체 문자 인식은 필기의 순서와 획의 위치를 알 수 있어 신경망을 이용한 자소의 효과적인 분할로 큰 성과를 이루었다. 그러나 오프라인 필기체 문자 인식은 동적인 정보와 시간적인 정보를 가지고 있지 않고, 다양한 필기와 자소의 겹침이 심하며 획 사이의 잡영을 많이 가지고 있어 불완전한 전처리를 수행하여야 하는 어려움을 가지고 있다. 따라서 오프라인 필기체 문자 인식은 다양한 방법의 연구가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 Watershed 알고리즘을 오프라인 필기체 한글 문자 인식 전처리에 적용하였다. 여기서 Watershed 알고리즘의 수행 시간과 결과 영상의 품질을 고려해 Watershed 알고리즘 4단계에서 효과적인 적용방법을 제시하였다. 효과적으로 구성된 Watershed 알고리즘을 전처리에 적용함으로써 영상 향상과 이진화에 좋은 결과를 얻었다. 실험에서는 기존의 방법과 본 논문 방법을 수행 시간과 품질로써 평가했다. 실험 결과 기존의 방법은 평균 2.08초, 본 논문 방법은 평균 0.86초의 수행 시간이 걸렸다. 결과 영상의 품질은 본 논문 방법이 기존의 방법에 비하여 문자의 획 사이의 잡영을 효과적으로 처리하였다.

PDA에서의 명함 영상의 기울기 보정 (Skew Correction of Business Card Images for PDA Application)

  • We present an efficient algorithm for skew correction of business card images obtained by a PDA camera. The proposed method is composed of four parts: block adaptive binarization (BAB), stripe generation, skew angle calculation, and image rotation. In the BAB, an input image is binarized block by block so as to lessen the effects of irregular illumination and shadows over the input image. In the stripe generation, character string clusters are generated merging character strings and their inter-spaces, and then only clusters useful for skew angle calculation are output as stripes. In the skew angle calculation, the direction angles of the stripes are calculated using their central moments and then the skew angle of the input image is determined averaging the direction angles. In the image rotation, the input image is rotated by the skew angle. Experimental results shows that the proposed method yields correction rates of 97% for business card images.
