In the present investigation, the nonlinear dynamic buckling of a curved plate subjected to sinusoidal loading is examined. By the theoretical analyses, a highly nonlinear snap-through motion of a clamped-free-clamped-free plate and its effect on the overall vibration response are investigated. The problem is reduced to that of a single degree of freedom system with the Rayleigh-Ritz procedure. The resulting nonlinear governing equation is solved using Runge-Kutta (RK-4) numerical integration method. The snap-through boundaries, which vary with different damping coefficient and linear circular frequency of the flat plate are studied and given in terms of force and displacement. The relationships between static and dynamic responses at the start of a snap-through motion are also predicted. The analysis brings out various characteristic features of the phenomenon, i.e. 1) small oscillation about the buckled position-softening spring type motion, 2) chaotic motion of intermittent snap-through, and 3) large oscillation of continuous snap-through motion crossing the two buckled positions-hardening spring type. The responses of buckled plate were found to be greatly affected by the snap-through motion. Therefore, better understanding of the snap-through motion is needed to predict the full dynamic response of a curved plate.
The method to distinguish chaotic attractors in the perturbed response behaviors of a piecewise-linear system under combined regular and external randomness is provided and examined. In the noisy fields such as the ocean environment, excitation forces induced by wind, waves and currents contain a finite degree of randomness. Under external random perturbations, the system responses are disturbed, and consequently chaotic signatures in the response attractors are not distinguishable, but rather look just random-like. Mean Poincare map can be utilized to identify such chaotic responses veiled due to the random noise by averaging the noise effect out of the perturbed responses. In this study, the procedure to create mean Poincare map combined with the direct numerical simulations is provided and examined. It is found that mean Poincare maps can successfully distinguish chaotic attractors under stochastic excitations, and also can give the information of limit value of noise intensity with which the chaos signature in system responses vanishes.

This research deals with the nonlinearities of rocking vibration associated with impact and sliding on the rocking behavior of rigid block under two dimensional sinusoidal excitation which has different frequencies in two excitation direction. The varied excitation direction influences not only the rocking response but also the sliding motion and the rocking response shape. Chaotic responses are observed in wider excitation amplitude region, when the frequencies in each excitation direction are different. The complex behavior of chaotic response, in the phase space, is related with the trajectory of base excitation and sliding motion.
The purpose of this study was development of a simple phytoplankton model for reservoir and applied DaeCheung reservoir. The effects of light intensity, PO$_{4}$-P, settling rate and flushing loss on phytoplankton growth are analyzed. This paper describes as investigation of the potential of simple phytoplankton models to d/splay chaotic instability, but given the observation of chaotic behavior in other simple simulation systems, such behavoir may actually be real fluctuation in the system response.

I construct a chaotically driven contraction system having some analogy with the information transfer mechanism in the brain system especially from CA1 cell to CA3 cell known from the empirical result. And I consider the properties of the response system on a state space according to the external input into the drive neuron by observing the fractal hierarchical structure. Then I induce the relation between the information about state transition of the chaotic time series and the spatial information on a fractal attractor to confirm the possibility of encoding of time series data to spatial information.
This research deals with the influence of nonlinearities associated with impact and sliding upon the rocking behavior of a rigid block, which is subjected to two-dimensional horizontal and vertical excitation. Nonlinearities in the vibration were found to depend strongly on the effect of the impact between the block and the base, which involves an abrupt reduction in the system's kinetic energy. In particular, when sliding occurs, the rocking behavior is substantially changed. Response analysis using a non-dimensional rocking equation was carried out for a variety of excitation levels and excitation frequencies. The chaos responses were observed over a wide response region, particularly, in the cases of high vertical displacement and violent sliding motion, and the chaos characteristics appear in the time histories, Poincare maps, power spectra and Lyapunov exponents of the rocking responses. The complex behavior of chaotic response, in phase space, is illustrated by the Poincare map. The distribution of the rocking response is described by bifurcation diagrams and the effects of sliding motion are examined through the several rocking response examples.

In this study, the dynamic instabilities of a nonlinear elastic system subjected to follower force are investigated. The two-degree-of-freedom double pendulum model with nonlinear geometry, cubic spring, and linear viscous damping is used for the study. The constant and periodic follower forces are considered. The chaotic nature of the system is identified using the standard methods, such as time histories, phase portraits, and Poincare maps, etc.. The responses are chaotic and unpredictable due to the sensitivity to initial conditions. The sensitivities to parameters, such as geometric initial imperfections, magnitude of follower force, and viscous damping, etc. is analysed. The strange attractors in Poincare map have the self-similar fractal geometry. Dynamic buckling loads are computed for various parameters, where the loads are changed drastically for the small change of parameters.

This paper presents a fuzzy model-based approach for synchronization of time-delay chaotic system with input saturation. Time-delay chaotic drive and response system is respectively represented by Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model. Specially, the response system contains input saturation. Using the unidirectional linear error feedback and the parallel distributed compensation (PDC) scheme, we design fuzzy chaotic synchronization system and analyze local stability for synchronization error dynamics. Since time-delay in the transmission channel always exists, we also take it into consideration. The sufficient condition for the local stability of the fuzzy synchronization system with input saturation and time-delay is derived by applying Lyapunov-Krasovskii theory and solving linear matrix inequalities (LMI's) problem. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the validity of the proposed approach.

In this study, the psycho-physiological response of drivers was investigated in terms of EEG(Electroencephalogram), especially with the fractal dimensions computed by Chaotic algorithm. The Chaotic algorithm Is well Known to sensitively analyze the non-linear information such as brain waves. An automobile with a fully equipped data acquisition system was used to collect the data. Ten healthy subjects participated in the experiment. EEG data were collected while subjects were driving the car between Won-ju and Shin-gal J.C. on Young-Dong highway The results were presented in terms of 3-Dimensional attractor to confirm the chaotic nature of the EEG data. The correlation dimension and fractal dimension were calculated to evaluate the complexity of the brain activity as the driving duration changes. In particular, the fractal dimension indicated a difference between the driving condition and non-driving condition while other spectral variables showed inconsistent results. Based upon the fractal dimension, drivers processed the most information at the beginning of the highway driving and the amount of brain activity gradually decreased and stabilized. No particular decrease of brain activity was observed even after 100 km driving. Considering the sensitivity and consistency of the analysis by Chaotic algorithm, the fractal dimension can be a useful parameter to evaluate the psycho-physiological responses of human brain at various driving conditions.
The compound active clamp zero voltage soft switching (CACZVS) three-phase power factor correction (PFC) converter has many advantages, such as high efficiency, high power factor, bi-directional energy flow, and soft switching of all the switches. Triple closed-loop PI controllers are used for the three-phase power factor correction converter. The control objectives of the converter include a fast transient response, high accuracy, and unity power factor. There are six parameters of the controllers that need to be tuned in order to obtain multi-objective optimization. However, six of the parameters are mutually dependent for the objectives. This is beyond the scope of the traditional experience based PI parameters tuning method. In this paper, an improved chaotic particle swarm optimization (CPSO) method has been proposed to optimize the controller parameters. In the proposed method, multi-dimensional chaotic sequences generated by spatiotemporal chaos map are used as initial particles to get a better initial distribution and to avoid local minimums. Pareto optimal solutions are also used to avoid the weight selection difficulty of the multi-objectives. Simulation and experiment results show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method.
