  • This study was conducted for obtaining the optimized data to build the mixer or micro fluid device as measuring the three dimensions flow field in micro mixer. To acquire the rapid diffusion on the region of low Reynolds (Re < 100), the staggered herringbone mixer using chaotic advection was selected in this case. At first, by conducting the numerical analytical virtual experiment using CFD-ACE+, three dimensions flow field in the micro mixer was estimated As this flow field was proven using defocusing particle tracing method, the behavior of micro flow with three dimensional aspects could be analyzed. Numerical analysis and flow pattern in the micro mixer by experimental verification made to be able to analyze the chaotic advection. These can be important sources for building more optimized form. Verifying the information of three dimensional flow structure, these information can be used as the data for developing and improving the $\mu$ -TAS.

  • The analysis of distribution line faults is essential to the proper protections in the power system. A high impedance fault does not make enough current to cause conventional protective devices. In this paper, Fractal dimensions are estimated for distinction between normal status and fault status in the power system. Application of the concepts of the fractal geometry to analyze chaotic properties of high impedance fault current was described. In addition, to analyze variation of fault current and normal current on phase plane, embedding state variables are reconstructed from 1 dimensional time series.

  • 본 연구에서는 카오스 랜덤 PWM(Chaotic Random PWM) 기법에 의한 3상 유도모터의 스위칭 소음 저감에 대하여 다루고 있다. 일반적으로 사용되고 있는 랜덤 발생기로서 선형일치발생기(Linear Congruential Generator : LCG)대신에 로지스트 사상(Logistic Map)의 분기도(Bifurcation Diagram)를 랜덤 발생기로 사용하였다. 카오스 랜덤수 발생기는 80C196 마이크로 콘트롤러가 전담하고 있으며, 80C196으로부터 발생된 카오스랜덤 수와 MAX038에 의하여 삼각파 랜덤 캐리어가 발생되고 있다. 1.5kw급 3상 유도모터 구동 시스템에 카오스 RPWM기법을 적용하여 모터전압 및 전류 그리고 스위칭 소음의 스펙트럼을 고찰하였다. 카오스 RPWM과 LCG에 의한 RPWM의 결과를 각각 비교하였으며 본 연구의 타당성을 입증하였다.

Application of chaos theory to simulation output analysis

  • The problem of testing for a change in the parameter of a stochastic process is particularly important in simulation studies. In studies of the steady state characteristics of a simulation model, it is important to identify initialization bias and to evaluate efforts to control this problem. A simulation output have the characteristics of chaotic behavior because of sensitive dependence on initial conditions. For that reason, we will apply Lyapunov exponent for diagnosis of chaotic motion to simulation output analysis. This paper proposes two methods for diagnosis of steady state in simulation output. In order to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of these methods using chaos theory, M/M/I(.inf.) queueing model is used for testing point estimator, average bias.

  • 1Hz에서 20Hz까지의 단속 주파수를 지닌 청각자극을 가해 얻은 EEG신호에서 자극에 따른 신호의 정성적이고 정량적인 특성을 카오스 분석방법을 통해 밝혔다. 먼저, 뇌전위 신호에 전반적으로 나타나는 일반적인 카오스 특징(fractal mechanism, 1/f frequency spectrum, positive lyapunov exponent등등)이 확인되어졌다. 유발전위에 대해서는 자극의 주파수에 따른 주기 배증을 경유한 카오스로 가는 길(route to chaos)과 2차원 pseudo-phase portrait의 뿌앙까레 단면에서의 기하학적 모양(topological property)의 변화가 관찰되어졌고, 자발전위가 포함된 유발전위에 대해서는 적절한 bases를 지닌 3차원 phase space에서 기이한 끌개(chaotic attractor)가, 유발전위의 정보를 지닌채 보여졌다. 끝으로 자극 주파수(단속 주파수와 반송 주파수) 변화와 측정이 이루어진 머리표면에서의 공간적 위치에 따른, lyapunov exponent값 변화가 의미있게 해석되어졌다. 이 결과는 무질서하게 보이는 뇌전위신호에서 주어진 청각자극에 대한 정보를 얻는 새로운 방법을 제시하게 된다.

  • This paper describes the effect of autonomic nervous activity on Heart rate variability and peripheral blood pressure with power spectral analysis and its characteristics of chaotic attractors. The aim of this paper is to access the applicability of spectral and dimension analysis of heart rate variability and peripheral blood pressure, attributed to changes in autonomic nervous system activity. About 60 mininutes of Heart rates and synchronized peripheral blood pressure were recorded on 10 healthy man while various mental and physical conditions. The results shows the availability to evaluate the autonomic nervous activities.

  • This paper proposes an fill-factor algorithm that determines embedding parameters which are needed in optimal attractor reconstruction. For reliability test, using this algorithm, we reconstructs the attractor of numerical chaotic data such as Duffing equation, Lorenz equation and Rossler equation whose embedding parameters are known. Also we reconstructs the attractor of experimental data and evaluates correlation dimension. Experimental data used in this paper are 38 ECG data of AHA(American Heart Association) ECG database. For numerical chaotic data, correlation dimension and Lyapunov exponent of reconstructed attractor are very close to those of attractor using original coordinate system.

  • In this paper, a 3D autonomous system, which has only stable or non-hyperbolic equilibria but still generates chaos, is presented. This system is topologically non-equivalent to the original Lorenz system and all Lorenz-type systems. This motivates us to further study some of its dynamical behaviors, such as the local stability of equilibrium points, the Lyapunov exponent, the dissipativity, the chaotic waveform in time domain, the continuous frequency spectrum, the Poincar$\acute{e}$ map and the forming mechanism for compound structure of its special cases. Especially, with the help of the Project Method, its Hopf bifurcation of codimension one is in detailed formulated. Numerical simulation results not only examine the corresponding theoretical analytical results, but also show that this system possesses abundant and complex dynamical properties not solved theoretically, which need further attention.

  • Analysis of Heart Rate Variability has been studied to estimate autonomic nervous system. PR interval represents conduction time from atrium to ventricle. PR interval variability(PRV) is also can be used to estimate autonomic nervous system. We have acquired two-state ECGs of children who are before vagal stimulation and after vagal stimulation. We applied chaotic theory to each ECG in order to analyze PRV, and compared the results from frequency domain analysis. The correlation dimension of PRV of pre-stimulated children is higher than that of post-stimulated children.

  • A diagnosis system that provides early warnings regarding machine malfunction is very important for rolling mill so as to avoid great losses resulting from unexpected shutdown of the production line. But it is very difficult to provide early warnings in rolling mill. Because dynamics of rolling mill is non-linear. This paper shows a chaotic behaviour of vibration signal in rolling mill using embedding method. Not only phase plane and Poincare map are implemented but also FFT and histogram of vibration signal in rolling mill is presented by embedding method.
