  • Let P be a finite poset and let $\mid$P$\mid$ be the number of vertices in pp. A Subposet of P is a subset of P with the induced order. A chain C in P is a subposet of P which is a linear order. The length of the chain C is $\mid$C$\mid$ - 1. A poset is bipartite if the length of each maximal chain is one.

  • This paper suggests a numerical method for valuation of European and American options under the two L$\acute{e}$vy Processes, Normal Inverse Gaussian Model and the Variance Gamma model. The method is based on approximation of underlying asset price using a finite-state, time-homogeneous Markov chain. We examine the effectiveness of the proposed method with simulation results, which are compared with those from the existing numerical method, the lattice-based method.

  • We present construction methods for free self-orthogonal (self-dual or Type II) codes over ℤ4[v]/〈v2 + 2v〉 which is one of the finite commutative local non-chain Frobenius rings of order 16. By considering their Gray images on ℤ4, we give a construct method for a code over ℤ4. We have some new and optimal codes over ℤ4 with respect to the minimum Lee weight or minimum Euclidean weight.

  • OPB(out-of-plane bending)-induced failure of mooring chain was firstly addressed by CALM (catenary anchor leg mooring)-type offloading buoy, located approximately one mile away from the bow of the Girassol FPSO which was installed offshore area of Angola in September 2001. This study deals with verifying the load transfer mechanism between the first free chain link and connected two chain links inside the chain hawse. OPB moment to angle variation relationships are proposed by extensive parametric study where the used design variables are static friction coefficients, proof test loads, nominal tension forces, chain link diameters, chain link grades and chain link types. The stress ranges due to OPB moments are obtained using nonlinear FEAs (finite element analyses). Final stress ranges are derived considering ones from IPT (in-plane tension) forces. Also a formula for OPB fatigue assessment is briefly introduced.

  • Efficient numerical finite element analysis of creeping concrete structures requires the use Kelvin or Maxwell chain model, which is most conveniently identified from a continuous retardation or relaxation spectrum, the spectrum in turn being determined from the given compliance or relaxation function. The method of doing that within the context of solidification theory for creep with aging was previously worked out by Bazant and Xi, but only for the case of a continuous retardation spectrum based on Kelvin chain. The present paper is motivated by the need to incorporate concrete creep into the recently published microplane model M4 for nonlinear triaxial behavior of concrete, including tensile fracturing and behavior under compression. In that context. the Maxwell chain is more effective than Kelvin chain. because of the kinematic constraint of the microplanes used in M4. Determination of the continuous relaxation spectrum for Maxwell chain. based on the solidification theory, is outlined and numerical examples are presented.

  • In the present study, the long-pitch roller-chain of a continuous ship unloader is studied. It is the vertical excavating and transporting the cargo has carried in bulk amount. The size of the pitch in the long-pitch roller chain is about 350 mm. The finite element technique is used for the structural safety of the roller chain. The objective of the study is to perform a dynamic analysis of the load at the point of contact with the sprocket of the roller chain, and analyze each point in the stress of the chain's components by using load. From the tooth sprocket optimization analysis, the results show an optimal design. Static structural analysis was safe. Contact analysis results show the greatest stress on the sprocket. By increasing the tooth size, the stress was reduced.

  • In this work, thermal design of a PCR chip for LOC is systematically conducted. From the numerical simulation of a PCR chip based on the finite volume method, how to control the average temperature of a PCR chip and the temperature difference between the denaturation zone and the annealing zone is presented. The average temperature is shown to be controlled by adjusting heat input and a cooler as well as a heater is shown to be necessary to obtain three individual temperature zones for polymerase chain reaction. To reduce the time required, a heat sink for the cooler is not included in the calculation domain for the PCR chip and heat sink design is conducted separately by using a compact modeling method, the porous medium approach.

  • In this work, a continuous-flow micro-PCR system is systematically designed. From the numerical simulation based on the finite volume method, adapting oneself to a new environmental temperature without an external temperature controller is shown to be possible and a cooler as well as a heater is shown to be necessary to obtain three individual temperature zones for polymerase chain reaction. In addition, appropriate geometry of a heat sink for the cooler is determined by using a compact modeling method, the porous medium approach.

  • Let p be an odd prime. The algebraic structure of all negacyclic codes of length $8_{p^s}$ over the finite commutative chain ring ${\mathbb{F}}_{p^m}+u{\mathbb{F}}_{p^m}$ where $u^2=0$ is studied in this paper. Moreover, we classify all negacyclic codes of length $8_{p^s}$ over ${\mathbb{F}}_{p^m}+u{\mathbb{F}}_{p^m}$ into 5 cases, i.e., $p^m{\equiv}1$ (mod 16), $p^m{\equiv}3$, 11 (mod 16), $p^m{\equiv}5$, 13 (mod 16), $p^m{\equiv}7$, 15 (mod 16) and $p^m{\equiv}9$ (mod 16). From that, the structures of dual and some self-dual negacyclic codes and number of codewords of negacyclic codes are obtained.

  • The objects of this paper are to formulated a model for the transport of a chain of radioactive waste products in a fractured porous medium, to devise an effective and efficient numerical method for approximating the solution of the model, and to demonstrated the convergence of the numerical method. The formulation begins from a model in an unfractured (single porosity) medium, passes through a double porosity model in a fractured medium, and ends with a modified single porosity model that takes the relevant time scales of the flow and the nuclear decay.
