  • To find a long term horizontal movement of superstructure caused by seasonal thermal change, several types of gages are installed such as soil earth pressuremeter behind stub abutment and jointmeter between approach slab and relief slab. As results, maximum passive earth pressure behind integral bridge abutments centerline with lateral movement of superstructure is about 1/6 of classic Rankine's earth pressure. And its distribution is not triangular but rectangular shape due to shape behind integral bridge abutments.

  • In this paper, a framework for creating road network from road edges is proposed. The present framework mainly includes two modules: road modeler and network generator. Road modeler creates the road polygons from the original road edges, and network generator performs converting road polygons to road network with good connectivity at all intersections. A prototype system is also built, and some experimental results are also presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework.

  • In Korea, National spatial data infrastructure has implemented in order to integrated manage and share the national spatial information producted by public agencies and local governments. The necessities of systematic quality management are raised, because information, which is generated by different agencies, is integrative managed by national level. In this paper, the establishment of BPR(Business Process Reengineering) for national spatial data infrastructure quality management system. Quality management business is defined as quality management object definition, quality measuring, evaluation and analysis, and quality enhancement process. Next, activities for each process are designed. For the quality management business, business rule(BR) is required for determining error. We derive the BR for six objects(legal-dong, railway boundary, railway centerline, road boundary, road centerline, building) among the basic spatial information. Other information's BR can be generated by using the derivation method described in this paper. Based on the BPR of this paper and derived BR, national spatial data infrastructure quality management system can be implemented in the future.

  • It can be effective to extract and apply the updated information from the newly updated map data for updating road data of topographic map. In this study, update target data and update reference data are overlaid and the update objects are explored using network matching technique. And the network objects are classified into five matching and update cases and the update processes for each case are applied to the test data. For this study, road centerline data of digital topographic map is used as an update target data and road data of Korean Address Information System is used as an update reference data. The buffer-based network matching method is applied to the two data and the matching and update cases are classified after calculating the overlaid ratio of length. The newly updated road centerline data of digital topographic map is generated from the application of update process for each case. As a result, the update information can be extracted from the different map dataset and applied to the road network data updating.

  • This paper describes the system engineering approach for the heat transfer analysis of plus7 fuel rod for APR1400 using, a commercial software, ANSYS. The fuel rod is composed of fuel pellets, fill gas, end caps, plenum spring and cladding. The heat is transferred from the pellet outward by conduction through the pellet, fill gas and cladding and further by convection from the cladding surface to the coolant in the flow channel. The goal of this paper is to demonstrate the temperature and heat flux change from the fuel centerline to the cladding surface when having maximum fuel centerline temperature at 100% power. This phenomenon is modelled using the ANSYS FEM code and analyzed for steady state temperature distribution across the fuel pellet and clad and the results were compared to the standard values given in APR1400 SSAR. Specifically the applicability of commercial software in the evaluation of nuclear fuel temperature distribution has been accounted. It is note that special codes have been used for fuel rod mechanical analysis which calculates interrelated effects of temperature, pressure, cladding elastic and plastic behavior, fission gas release, and fuel densification and swelling under the time-varying irradiation conditions. To satisfactorily meet this objective we apply system engineering methodologies to formulate the process and allow for verification and validation of the results acquired. The close proximity of the results obtained validated the accuracy of the FEM analysis of the 2D axisymmetric model and 3D model. This result demonstrated the validity of commercial software instead of proprietary in-house code that is more costly to develop and maintain.

  • In this paper, the optimal seismic design method for inducing the beam-hinge collapse mechanism of steel moment frames is presented. This uses the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II(NSGA-II) as an optimal algorithm. The constraint condition for preventing the occurrence of plastic hinges at columns is used to induce the beam-hinge collapse mechanism. This method uses two objective functions to minimize the structural weight and maximize the dissipated energy. The proposed method is verified by the application to nine story steel moment frame example. The minimum column-to-beam strength ratio to induce the beam-hinge collapse mechanism are investigated based on the simulation results. To identify the influence of panel zone on the minimum column-to-beam strength ratio, three analytic modeling methods(nonlinear centerline model without rigid end offsets, nonlinear centerline model with rigid end offsets, nonlinear model with panel zones) are used.

  • In this study, we carried out the each lines of section, using GC (green silicon carbide) whetstone, the SCM415 material which separated by after and before heat treatments process, in 3+2 axis machining centers for integrated grinding after cutting end mill works, the spindle speed 8000 rpm and feed rate 150 mm/min. For the analysis of the centerline average roughness (Ra), we measured by 10 steps stages. Using Finite element analysis, we found the result of the load analysis effect of the assembly parts, when applied the 11 kg's load on both side of the ATC (Automatic tool change) arm. The result is as follows. For the centerline average roughness (Ra) in the non-heat treatment work pieces, are appeared the most favorable in the tenth section are $0.510{\mu}m$, that were shown in the near the straight line section which is the smallest deformation of curve. In addition, the bad surface roughness appears on the path is to long by changing angle, the more inclined depth of cut, because the chip discharging is not smoothly.
