  • In this paper we develop nonparametric methods for regression analysis when the response variable is subject to censoring that arises naturally in quality engineering. This development is based on a general missing information principle that enables us to apply, via an iterative scheme, nonparametric regression techniques for complete data to iteratively reconstructed data from a given sample with censored observations. In particular, additive regression models are extended to right-censored data. This nonparametric regression method is applied to a simulated data set and the estimated smooth functions provide insights into the relationship between failure time and explanatory variables in the data.

  • In this paper, we obtain the estimator of system reliability for the bivariate Pareto model with bivariate type 1 censored data. We obtain the estimators and approximated confidence intervals of the reliability for the parallel system based on likelihood function and the relative frequency, respectively. Also we present a numerical example by giving a data set which is generated by computer.

  • The parameters in linear models with censored normal responses are usually estimated by the iterative maximum likelihood and least square methods. However, the iterative least square method is simple but hardly has theoretical justification, and the iterative maximum likelihood estimating equations are complicatedly derived. In this paper, we justify these methods via Wedderburn (1974)'s quasi-likelihood approach. This provides an explicit justification for the iterative least square method and also directly the iterative maximum likelihood method for estimating the regression coefficients.

  • In the case of multiple survival times which might be censored at each covariate vector, we study the regression quantile estimations in this paper. The estimations are based on the empirical distribution functions of the censored times and the sample quantiles of the observed survival times at each covariate vector and the weighted least square method is applied for the estimation of the regression quantile. The estimators are shown to be asymptotically normally distributed under some regularity conditions.

  • In a resent paper, Na and Kim(2000) develop a family of test statistics for testing whether or not the mean residual life changes its trend based on complete data and show that the new tests perform better than previously known tests. In this paper, we extend their tests to the randomly censored data. The asymptotic normality of the test statistics is established. Monte Carlo simulations are conducted to compare our tests with a previously known test by the power of tests.

  • In this paper, we consider two-components system which the lifetimes follow bivariate pareto model with censored data. We develop large sample tests for testing independence between two-components. Also we present simulated study which is the test based on asymptotic normal distribution in testing independence.

  • We propose a simple estimation procedure in the mixed linear models with censored normal data, using both Buckly and James(1979) type pseudo random variables and Lee and Nelder's(1996) estimation procedure. The proposed method is illustrated with the matched pairs data in Pettitt(1986).

  • This paper presents the methodology for obtaining point and interval estimating of the parameters of a new two-parameter distribution with multiple-censored and singly censored data (Type-I censoring or Type-II censoring) as well as complete data, using the maximum likelihood method. The basis is the likelihood expression for multiple-censored data. Furthermore, this model can be extended to a three-parameter distribution that is added a scale parameter. Then, the parameter estimation can be obtained by the graphical estimation on probability plot.

  • We consider generalized exponential regression model with randomly censored data and propose a modified Fisher scoring method which estimates the model parameters. For this, the likelihood equations are derived and then the estimating algorithm is developed. We illustrate the proposed method using a real data.

  • Simulations are important for survival analyses that deal with censored data. Cox models are widely used in survival analyses, therefore, we investigate how to generate censored data that can simulate the Cox model. Bender et al. (Statistics in Medicine, 24, 1713-1723, 2005) provided a parametric method for generating survival times, but we need to generate censoring times as well as survival times to simulate the censored data. In addition to the parametric method for generating censored data, a nonparametric method is also proposed and applied to a real data set.
