This paper proposes a capacitance estimation method of the dc-link capacitor for brushless DC motor (BLDCM) drive systems. In order to estimate the dc-link capacitance, the BLDCM is operated in quadrant-II or -IV among four-quadrant operation. Quadrant-II and -IV are called reverse braking and forward braking, respectively. During the braking operation of the BLDCM, the capacitor is charged by the phase current and then the voltage is increased during the braking operation time. The capacitor current and voltage can be obtained by using the phase current sensor of BLDCM and the dc-link voltage sensor. The capacitance and be easily obtained by the voltage equation of the capacitor. The proposed method guarantees the reliable and simple calculation of the dc-link capacitance without additional hardware system except several the sensors already installed for the motor control system. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through both the simulation and experimental results.
The purpose of this study is to develop the proto type sensor installed inside an oil filter in order to detect oil deterioration level. The sensor is made up with two concentric cylinders with constant gap in between and a filter element inside the central area. The size will be designed as similar as real oil filters. The sensor will be tested on a test rig, which is circulating engine oil, with the same size of an oil filter adapting housing as real engines'. It will be measured the capacitance of a sample engine oil, then be able to be gotten the dielectric constant. The changes in the dielectric constant could be correlated with the engine oil deterioration level if the sensor development would be completed. In this paper, it will be shown the test results carrying out under variable temperature conditions at atmosphere pressure.
In this paper, we present a wearable measurement system for monitoring rounded shoulders. The system contains a shoulder correction band and a stretch sensor that can correct and measure shoulder posture, respectively. The capacitance of the stretch sensor changes linearly according to changes in the shoulders. To verify measurement, a motion analysis system was used as the reference to compare the change in the rounded angles of the shoulders and the change in the stretch sensor's capacitance. The results indicated that there is a high correlation between the two changes and the system can be used as a monitoring device for rounded shoulders.
This paper presents an implantable telemetry LC resonance-type pressure sensor for the measurement of the ventricle pressure. This sensor consists of a capacitor and an inductor. This resonant circuit is magnetically coupled with an external antenna coil. The resonance frequency of the circuit decreases as the sensor capacitance is increased by the applied pressure. The inductance and the capacitance are 428nH and 0.98${\mu}F$, respectively. The resonance frequency is 245.7MHz when the differential pressure is zero. The sensitivity of the sensor is 9.477kHz/Pa.
On this study, we fabricated humudity sensor with polyimide thin film from the nonaqueous emulsion by the electrophoretic deposition as a function of film thickness. then evaluated performance of the sensor with increasing relative humidity if constant temperature constant humidity chamber, which is electronically controlled. we designed upper electrode of the sensor to brush type to make moisture particles permeate into the polymer bulk. sensing properties of the sensor on % RH shows proportion on the low %RH. Fer the 30V-30S- 200$^{\circ}C$ sample, percentage changing of capacitance on from 30 %RH to 90 %RH is 45.8 %, and increasing rate per 1 % RH of capacitance is 11.25 pF
This research, integratable capacitive relative humidity sensor was produced using polyimide on glass substrate. Also, at the time of upper electrode formation, upper electrode grain size was affected by giving changes to sputtering condition. Through this analyzing electrical characteristics affect from capacitive relative humidity sensor was possible. Capacitance of capacitive relative humidity sensor was 330 pF, linearity of 0.6%FS and it showed less than 3% of low hysterisis. Specially, hysterisis was affected more from interface than interstitial. Also was affected by the grain size which is one of the formation condition of upper electrode.
A technical performance of the coating depends greatly on the thickness of painting film or coating film. Therefore the confirmed report of the technique to measure accurately is essential to the coating film thickness for the assessment about a coating quality performance. In this paper, two gap sensors - eddy current gap sensor and capacitance gap sensor - which has a different operating principle were used to measure the thickness of a nonmagnetic substance coating film such as paint, enamel or ceramic that was coated on the metallic material. A capacitance gap sensor was used to measure the distance between the sensor head and a coating film and an eddy current gap sensor to measure the distance between the sensor head and a base metal. Then the thickness of a coating film was obtained by the difference of two measurement value. At this result, the suggested dual sensor can measure an arbitrary film thickness to be coated on a base metal as the measurement value of coating thickness exists accurately within the 2% error.
