K-Wheel : Interactive Virtual Reality Application Using IMU Sensor And Real Wheel (K-Wheel : IMU 센서와 회전보드(휠)를 이용한 인터랙티브 가상현실 방송 제작 어플리케이션)

  • 본 논문은 방송의 가상스튜디오 제작 환경에서 많이 사용되는 회전 또는 스크롤 메뉴를 진행자가 직접 휠(회전보드)을 움직여, 진행자와 그래픽과의 자연스러운 상호작용이 가능한 인터랙티브 가상현실 방송 제작 어플리케이션을 제안한다. 이를 위해, 우리는 물리적인 휠의 움직임을 인지할 수 있도록 관성측정장치(IMU: Inertial Measurement Unit)를 사용하였으며, IMU 센서가 부착된 휠을 크로마키로 처리하기 위해 푸른색의 페인팅된 물리적인 휠을 사용하였다. 본 어플리케이션을 통해서 가상스튜디오의 연기자는 물리적인 휠의 움직임을 느끼면서 휠을 회전시킴으로써 별도의 연습이나 훈련 없이도 직관적으로 회전하는 여러 타입의 가상 그래픽 메뉴를 제어할 수 있다. 우리는 상하 스크롤, 원형 회전, 스크롤 연동형 메뉴 어플리케이션들을 개발하였으며, 이것을 방송에 적용하여, 연기자와 휠에 연동한 그래픽과의 인터랙션이 자연스럽게 합성됨을 확인하였다.

Application Studies for Active Fire Monitoring over Korea Using MODIS Direct Broadcast Data

  • The MODIS Land Rapid Response System (RRS) has been developed to provide rapid access to MODIS data globally, with initial emphasis on 250 m color composite imagery and active fire data. Fire detection is based on a contextual algorithm that exploits the strong emission of mid-infrared radiation from fires. This algorithm examines each pixel of the MODIS swath, and ultimately assigns to each one of the following classes: missing data, cloud, water, non-fire, fire, or unknown. In this paper, we introduce the MODIS Rapid Response System established at the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) and present some application results for Korea using the direct broadcast data acquired at KARI ground station.

  • 최근 기존의 설치형 어플리케이션으로 제공되던 워드 프로세서나 스프레드 시트 등이 RIA(Rich Internet Application)와 Ajax(Asynchronous JavaScript and XML)같은 기술의 발달로 구글 독스(Google Docs)와 같이 웹브라우저(Web Browser)에서 동작하는 형태의 클라우드 기반 웹 어플리케이션으로 제작되어 널리 사용되고 있다. 또한 기존의 웹 기술로는 구현하기 어려웠던 동영상 포맷 변환이나 사진이나 동영상에 필터를 적용하는 것과 같은 영상처리가 가능한 클라우드 기반 웹 어플리케이션이 등장하고 있는 실정이다. 이에 본 논문은 컴퓨팅 자원을 많이 사용하고, 장시간의 변환이 필요한 360도 영상의 변환과정에 꼭 필요한 기술인 포토스티칭(Photo-stitching)을 클라우드에서 가능하게 하는 프론트엔드 및 백엔드를 구현하고, 웹소켓(Websocket)기술을 활용하여 실시간으로 변환결과를 전달 받을 수 있도록 하였다.

Color Similarity Definition Based on Quantized Color Histogram for Clothing Identification

  • In this paper, we present a method to define a color similarity between color images using Octree-based quantization and similar color integration. The proposed method defines major colors from each image using Octree-based quantization. Two color palettes to consist of major colors are compared based on Euclidean distance and similar color bins between palettes are matched. Multiple matched color bins are integrated and major colors are adjusted. Color histogram based on the color palette is constructed for each image and the difference between two histograms is computed by the weighted Euclidean distance between the matched color bins in consideration of the frequency of each bin. As an experiment to validate the usefulness, we discriminated the same clothing from CCD camera images based on the proposed color similarity analysis. We retrieved the same clothing images with the success rate of 88 % using only color analysis without texture analysis.

  • We are developing a simple low-cost wind velocity sensor based on small microphones. The sensor system consists of 4 microphones covered with specially shaped wind screens, 4 pre-amplifiers that respond to low frequency, and a commercial sound interface with multi channel inputs. In this paper, we first present the principle of the sensor, i.e., technique to successfully suppress the influence of external noise existing in the environment in order to determine the wind velocity and the wind direction from the output from a microphone. Then, we present an application for generating realistic motions of a virtual tree swaying in real wind. Although the current sensor outputs significant leaps in a measured sequence of directions, the interactive animations demonstrate that it is usable for such applications, if we could reduce the leaps to some degree.

  • This research is on an interactive animation prototype which can be used by many users from different computers, that means a network with one server and many clients. In our research, a complete motion is represented by simple motion characteristics. We establish databases which contain all kinds of human motion characteristics. Using flexible connection and appropriate time control, we are able to recompose a sequential serial motion data. Moreover, an interactive application system is needed among the uses with a server from animator. In this research, we also investigate three methods of“connect motion database”. We are planing to use the method of connecting motion database under networks with a client-server application system.

  • The 21st century will see the formation of a“Cyber society”that, while separate form the real world, will cooperate with it, leading to the further expansion and development of world society. Cyber society allows the formation of virtual space through the connection of multiple computers in a network. In this virtual space, multiple users can communicate with each other and can collect and exchange information while moving about freely and engaging in activities. Three main technologies are vital to the construction of the Cyber society: platform technology for converting multimedia information to optical signals and performing digital processing and communication processing on such signals; communications network technology for transferring these signals from one point to another; and application technology for configuring the Cyber society that will be formed on this network. This paper describes platform technology and network technology with an emphasis on their relationship to application technology for configuring the Cyber society, and will also discuss InterSpace, one of the cyber society platform system of the Cyber society.

  • Security and degradation by broadcast is the most important part that must handle in LAN. Virtual LAN can improve LAN's degradation by method to form and manages network group logically. MAC Address VLAN algorithm that propose in this research give overlap special qualify to VLAN adding extension VID field and VID connection extent table to FDB, manage overlap extent dynamically. VLAN that apply this proposal algorithm can share information and resource in network without additional equipment. Application is possible switch or Bridge that this algorithm achieves Layer 2 functions.

  • 최근 경주 포항 지역에 지진피해 등 대구 경북권의 잦은 재난 발생으로 인해 증대되고 있는 노후학교 건축물의 안전성 위험 문제에 대한 선제 대응이 필요한 상황이 요구되고 있다. 학교 건축물에 건물의 위험도를 파악할 수 있는 센서들을 부착하고, 실시간 모니터링을 통해 건물의 구조적 위험성을 판단한다. 건물의 위험도가 심각한 단계에 이르면 스마트폰(Smart Phone) 앱(Application)과 음성안내방송을 통해 건물의 재실자와 관리자에게 즉시 경보를 발령하며, 대피할 수 있도록 가이드를 제시 한다. 이에 본 논문에서는 스마트 재난경보방송을 위한 스마트폰 애플리케이션(application)을 통해 재난 상황을 전파하고 대응할 수 있게 건물의 위험성 발생 위치정보를 제공하며 대피 안내 정보를 제공한다. 동시에 건물의 구내방송 시스템과 연계를 통해 음성 안내방송을 자동으로 수행하며, 두 가지 방식으로 재난 메시지를 전파하여 중복성을 가지고 경보 전파를 수행한다.
