  • In this study, we consider the relationship between boundaryless career attitudes and career success and the mediating effect of networking behavior. Boundaryless career attitude refers to career attitude in which career paths can gain experience in various environments beyond the fence of a single employment situation. Based on a prior research review, research hypotheses were established for the relationship between boundaryless career attitudes and subjective·objective career success. In addition, three networking behaviors, one of the social capital, were set as mediators between the two variables. Verifying the research hypothesis shows that the boundaryless career attitude and subjective career success are in a significant positive relationship and that the relationship is completely mediated by contact maintaining, friendship, and task networking behaviors. The boundaryless career attitude is a significant positibe effect with objective career success, and this relationship has been shown to be completely mediated by friendship and task networking behavior. Based on the above research results, interpretations, implications, and future research directions were presented.

  • Many empirical studies are conducted in regards to protean career or boundaryless career. The concept and the notion of protean career and boundaryless career has extended so far. Yet, the gap in the literature exists. Previous literature focused on the relationship among protean career, boundaryless career, and subjective career success, but examined little about the influence of protean career and boundaryless career on positive career attitude or future learning readiness. Therefore, this study explores the moderating effect of supporting policy of career development among protean career orientation, boundaryless career, positive career attitude, and future learning readiness. There was moderating effect of supporting policy of career development among the relationships of protean career orientation and future learning readiness; the relationships of boundaryless career and future learning readiness. The moderating effect of supporting policy of career development implies that the intention of career development in self-directed way and learning are related. In addition, The role of HRD/HRM department which takes initiatives in career development can affect the learning readiness for future among workers.

Among sub-age groups categorized by the position in career cycle and the employability, 61~68 year old group(after retirement age group) had the biggest difficulties on the training including computer-based training and showed the lowest employment result compared to other sub age groups; major career(30~45), career transition preparation(46~52), career transition(53~60). However, the career transition age group utilized vocational training in the aspect of career search and the after-retirement age group in the aspect of preparation for older age and hobby. On the other hand, factors such as career adaptability and perceived education difficulties affected on the training usefulness in the aspects of career search and preparation for older age and hobby while perceived career barriers, career relevancy and relationship ability affected on the employment result. Based on these findings, this study suggests that vocational training provide more suited course for the boundaryless career seekers and include relationship enforcement and positive attitude development to overcome perceived career barriers for middle-aged and older people.
