  • The purpose of this study is to analysis children's measurement and to provide the fundamental information for he clothing design which can reflect the characteristic of their bodies. An anthropometric database used for this study was the 1992 national anthropomatric survey of Koreans. The results obtained are as follows; (1) Children showed the significant difference of their growth in accordance with the increase of their ages. There were also the difference between body and girls. Height, length of items grew most promthy. For example; boys from 10 to 11 and girls from 10 to 11 again their height mostly. (2) In character of body proportion, significant difference were found in accordance with their ages and sex. However, in the items of height, length noticeable changes of proportion could not be found because there were hardly any actual difference of size means while girth items appeared differently. (3) There were significant factors from the result of factor analysis of body dimension. The fist factor ; grith, depth, breath. The second factor ; height, length. (4) We can class three groups with the results of cluster analysis of body dimension.

  • We spend about 40% of lifte time on a bed and seek how such amount of time is spent comfort. Bed comfort has been pursuited. The pressure distributions on a bed by body pressure has been considered as one of the most important factors of bed comfort. This study is to quantify the subjective assessment by the body pressure distribution and develop the objective evaluation method of bed comfort. A new measurement system for body pressure on a bed was developed in this study. The thin film pressure sensor (FSR: Force Sensing Resistor) of an elastomer-type was used to prevent the distortion of contact pressure. The pressure distribution is measured by FSR and displayed on the monitor by color-coded contour patterns. Some of the bed test results were described. And the relations between body pressure distribution and bed comfort were evaluated.

  • Anthropometric studies and multicultural research on body changes are fundamental and important data for domestic apparel industry and for globalization of women's clothing marketing. The objective of this study is to compare the general body measurements and shoulder angles of Korean and U. S. elderly women to supply basic data for the apparel design. The anthropometric data was collected including both direct and indirect measurements of 272 women over the age of 55 in Korean (subject = 123) and the U.S (subject = 149). The statistical methods used for the analysis of measurement data are the factor and cluster analysis respectively. The results of the factor analysis indicated that 5 factors can be extracted in Korean and 4 factors can be extracted in the U. S. from 15 body measurements to explain the variance. The results of cluster analysis by shoulder slope angle and forward displacement of the shoulder of Korean and the U. S. women classified them in three groups, cluster 1, cluster 2 and cluster 3 respectively.

  • The purpose of this paper was to find out obese women's respective characteristics of torso body shape. The subjects were 132 obese women for direct measurement and were 101 obese women for indirect measurement, age of 20~59. The criterial of obesity base on Rohrer index($\geq$1.6) and busts girth ($\leq$90). The results were as follows : 1) In comparison with the average body shapes in common body types, in 30's was bigger in the bust and waist girth than the different age groups. 2) According to the difference in the basic girth(bust and waist girth, hip and bust girth, hip and waist girth) the body types were classified 2 groups. Types 1 was large bust and slightly curved from waist to hip. Type 2 was large hip and larger in the curve from waist to hip than type 1.

  • Clothing shape is principally described in seven factors that are composed of clothing design, clothing material, clothing size, pattern design, sewing method and body motion etc. The aims of this study was to measurement out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body by using the image processing. The subjects for direct anthropometric measurements were 248 female college students aged from 19 to 22. The data were statistically analyzed by principal analysis and cluster analysis. The results selected one somatotype. for the out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body, there dimensional clothing shapes measured. and cross-sectional clothing shape obtained by the measurement was considered to be space wave form. The out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body was observed between the node number and amplitudes of clothing wave form, and node number was determined at the maxim of space-shape amplitude, and the space-shape amplitudes have related with aspect ratio of cross-sectional shape. • Objective: This study measured and evaluated the characteristics of the whole body vibration experienced in some coal-fired power plant in Korea. Background: Few studies have been carried out in Korea about the effects of whole body vibration of power plants on humans. Method: The evaluation scheme suggested by the Law of Noise and Vibration Control was applied. Results: It was found that 28.9% of total measurement points were above the limit suggested by the law. Conclusion: Many workers are exposed to whole body vibration during their job completion, and more efforts should be applied to prevention and control of the plat vibration.

  • The purpose of this study is to assess for scattering object for the missile ejection round due to analysis of the human body effectiveness safely. To achieve this goal the measurement method of scattering objects by comparative 2 measurement methods studied, the risk of scattering of the object is evaluated. Result of this study, applied in Europe and Japan, based on the safety criteria for the human body effectiveness when missile ejection round. data showed is not effectiveness to the operator's body safely. Data showed that satisfies the safety criteria for missile ejection round in Europe and Japan through the similarity for the case studies. In case of these safety criteria does not exist regulation in South Korea, this study will be referred as guidelines are considered.

  • Dosimetry of radiating electromagnetic wave from mobile devices to human body has been evaluated by measuring Specific Absorption Rate (SAR). Usual SAR measurement system scans the volume by robot arm to evaluate RF power absorption to human body from wireless devices. It is possible to fast estimate the volume SAR by software deleting robot moving time with the 2D surface SAR data acquired by arrayed probes. This paper shows the principle of fast SAR measurement and the measured data comparison between the fast SAR system and the robot scanning system. Data of the fast SAR is well corresponding with data of robot scanning SAR within ${\pm}3$ dB, and its dynamic range covers from 10 mW/kg to 30 W/kg with 4.8 mm probe diameter.

  • This paper addresses the issues and difficulties encountered in developing a 12-axis measurement system for the assessment of whole-body vibration exposed from the body contact area. The contents of related survey work and the ideas from Professor Griffin in ISVR, that have led to its successful development, are introduced here. The developed 12-axis measurement system is shown to satisfy the international standards of ISO 2631 and BS 6841 in EC. This system is expected to play a key role in assessing the ride quality of passenger cars that is rapidly becomes much interest in Korean car-makers and tyre-makers.

  • The use of relaxing cosmetic products is more and more widespread on the self care market, since stress is considered as a major cause of discomfort in modem life. Cortisol, the stress hormone, helps the human body to regulate itself by acting on carbonhydrate, proteins and fat metabolisms. IgA are immune molecules involved in the stress response of the human body. The less the human body is stressed, the more the salivary IgA rate increases. Salivary cortisol and IgA have the advantage of being easily assessed with non invasive methods. Finally, conductance is the measurement of the modification in the electrical resistance of the skin. By this means, the measurement of the conductance enable the assessment of somebody's stress.(omitted)
