  • Endotoxin from the cell wall of marine V. vujnificus was .extracted using the hot phenol-water method, injected endotoxin into rat, and tested the toxic effect of endotoxin on the blood component In rat blood. The results showed that blood glucose, blood urea nitrogen, white blood cell, and reticulocyte were Increased and red blood cell was the same as the number of control group(normal blood), but platelet was decreased. Above results suggested that endotoxin induced a malfunction of liver and that the Increase of white blood cell was for the removal of foreign toxic substance.

  • Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and cell wall protein-A (CWP-A) were extracted from the cell wall of Vibrio vulnificus, Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium. LPSs and CWP-As were injected into rat and the changes of the following blood components were examined. The change of the number of white blood cell (WBC), red blood cell (RCB), platelet (PLT), blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and blood glucose in rat blood and interferon (IFN) activity change by LPS and CWP-A were measured. WBC, RETI, PTT, and BUN were increased and RBC and blood glucose were increased slightly, but PLT was decreased.

  • The echo signal on ultrasonic transducer is a mixed signal from tissues, blood vessel walls, blood cells and noise. In this mixed-signal, the signal reflected from tissues and blood vessel walls is called clutter. It is necessary to extract pure blood signal from this mixed-signal, when measuring blood flow velocity with medical ultrasonic system The quality of measured blood flow velocity is highly dependent on sufficient attenuation of the clutter signals. In this paper, we suggest a clutter rejection method using ICA For simulation, the echo signals are generated by Field n ultrasonic simulation program In this echo signals, independent signals are separated by using ICA Then the blood signal is obtained from the separated signals. Blood flow velocity is measured by 2D autocorrelation method. We compare ICA clutter rejection method with PCA-based eigen filter method using both measured blood flow velocity profiles by 2D autocorrelation. In simulation results, ICA clutter rejection method can be better applied measuring blood flow velocity in noisy echo signals.

  • The miniaturization and integration are trend of modern blood analyses. Micro-Bio-Fluidics plays an important role in a micro blood analysis system. In this paper, analysis and design technology for blood analysis system is presented. Numerical simulations of a blood flow in micro separator and reservoir are conducted. As a result, we suggest on-chip micro separator, which performed plasma separation from whole blood in micro channels.

  • Assuming that photons absorbed by a vessel do not have acute variations, DC component reflect the basal blood volume (or diameter) before blood pulsation. Vascular stiffness and reflection is influenced by changes in basal blood volume (or diameter). This paper describes analysis of the characteristic variations of vascular stiffness, according to relative variations in DC components of the PPG signal (25-75%). For quantitative analysis, we have used parameters that were proposed previously, reflection and stiffness index, and the second derivative of PPG waveform, b/a and d/a. Significantly, the vascular stiffness and reflections were increased according to increase in DC component of the PPG signal for more than about 3% of baseline values. The systolic blood pressure were increased from $113.1{\times}13.18$ to $116.2{\times}13.319$ mmHg, about 2.76% (r = 0.991, P < 0.001) and the AC component of the PPG signal were decreased from $2.073{\times}2.287$ to $1.973{\times}2.2038$ arbitrary unit, about 5.09% (r = -0.993, P < 0.001). It is separated by DC median and correlation analysis was performed for analyzing vascular characteristics according to instantaneous DC variations. There are significant differences between two correlation coefficients in separated data.

  • A simple, accurate GC analytical technique for the determination of phthalates. commonly used as plasticizers during the manufacturing process of PVC bags, in blood component preparations was developed and validated. The blood component preparations were extracted with n-hexane. The n-hexane layer was evaporated to dryness and the residue was dissolved in 1 $m\ell$ of n-hexane and analyzed by GC and GC/MS. • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of the Cardiopulmonary function and Blood component to aerobic exercise. This were measured performance for 15 minutes. This study included 14 healthy individuals, 7 males and 7 females who were aged from 19 to 25 years. 1. After exercise heart rate was increased by on average of 93.7 beat/min as compared with rest. 2. Before exercise breath rate increased compared with rest and normal recovery need more 10 minutes. 3. Breathing capacity increased compare before with after perfoming exercise and male was less increase than was female. 4. Blood component(WBC, RBC, HB, HCT) showed aslight increased of difference compare before with after perfoming exercise.

  • The dependence of the rheological properties of blood on shape, aggregation, and deformability of red blood cells (RBCs) has been investigated using hybrid systems by coupling fluid with solid models. We present a simple approach for simulating blood as a multi-component fluid, in which RBCs are modeled as droplets of acquired biconcave shape. We used lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) due to its excellent numerical stability as a simulation tool. The model enables us to control the droplet static shape by imposing non-isotropic surface tension force on the interface between the two components. The use of the proposed non-isotropic surface tension method is justified by the Norris hypothesis. This hypothesis states that the shape of the RBC is due to a non-uniform interfacial surface tension force acting on the RBC periphery. This force is caused by the unbalanced distribution of the lipid molecules on the surface of the RBC. We also used the same concept to investigate the dynamic shape change of the RBC while flowing through the microvasculature, and to explore the physics of the Fahraeus, and the Fahraeus-Lindqvist effects.

  • Through the translation and comparative study of the enriching blood and nourishing vital essence(補陰血方劑) in "The Elimination & Supplement about the Famous Prescription Comments(刪補名醫方論)" of "The Golden Mirror of Medicine(醫宗金鑑)" with "The Famous Prescription Comments on Ancient and Modern Times(古今名醫方論)", we confirmed that about 50% of the sentences from "The Elimination & Supplement about the Famous Prescription Comments(刪補名醫方論)" were quoted in "The Famous Prescription Comments on Ancient and Modern Times(古今名醫方論)", and that many of the text were not quoted unchanged, but were revised and supplemented. In organization, the prescription with the fewer number of component drugs is given first, followed by that with more component drugs, and that with similar component drugs is explained subsequently to facilitate understanding. In the prescription notes, it is emphasized that when enriching blood, the invigorative method(補氣法) is very important and that cold or pungent herb should be very carefully used.
