As a variety of industrial technology advances with various materials developed, cosmetics industry in general is witnessing many kinds of new cosmetic products. At the same time, Cosmetics Act becomes effective, and cosmetics ingredient labeling is implemented. Concerns with life pattern such as life management, biorhythm, right posture, and stress symptoms are on the increase in order to seek high-quality life as well. These life patterns are closely connected not only with life quality and health but with skin management, and thus this paper conducts a survey on the connection between functional cosmetics awareness and life pattern. Results show that out of 16 questions concerning cosmetics awareness, responses to question number 3, 5, 6 and 11 have relevant differences among colleges. Furthermore, the results of cross analysis with life pattern show that there are relevant differences between the year of responses and stress symptoms and between the year of responses and right posture. Lastly, it is shown that answers to questions regarding gender and biorhythm, gender and right posture, and gender and stress symptoms are relevantly different. Further research is needed to reveal the differences between college students and ordinary people at large.

This paper proposes a music recommendation system for a driver in vehicle. The proposed system provides (selects and plays) a music to a driver in vehicle in real-time manner by inferring his preference based on physical, environmental, and personal information. Pulse data as physical information, age and biorhythm as personal information, and time as environmental information are used to infer a driver's and thus recommend a music. Experimental results showed that the proposed system could provide better satisfaction to a driver on the recommended music compared to the conventional approach.

One of the main motivations of this research process is to develop an adaptable VR model whose color can be changed according to the emotional information of user. This paper addresses how to define color scheme and combine colors with harmony. The adaptable color of the VR model consists of three processes: emotional keyword identification, the color combination and the VR model adaptation processes. We have used the biorhythm to derive the emotional keyword which is used to find the color harmony scheme. The color harmony scheme provides information for the color combination of the VR model. Finally, we have obtained the VR model which color has been changed using the identified color schema.

Geomancy accepts with a pre-requisite that human beings adapt themselves to nature as an organism, because people and environment, bodies and space have the homogeneity which can not be divided by a dichotomy. The homogeneity as a structure alive implies a deep relationship with biorhythm and the change of space, and is regarded as a concept and role significant on the coordination. In other words, applying the element in the geomancy could be interpreted as a work giving a new meaning and spirit on a creation of space and furniture coordination. Harmony and balance shown in design concepts have a relationship with the meaning on Yin-Yang and the Five Elements theory. In addition, the characteristic in each element is suggested as an example applying the concept of geomancy through furniture coordination for each space in the chapter 4.

Nowadays human sensibility ergonomics is spotlighted as one of trends which we have pursued for improvement of humanity. Human sensibility ergonomics is a technique making human life more convenient by applying it to many kinds of products and design for environment by measuring and estimating human sensibility more qualitatively and quantitatively. The study of human sensibility can be discovered in oriental philosophy based on human being. Therefore there is an close relationship between human sensibility ergonomics and oriental philosophy. In this study, we research the sensibility factors of diagnostics by Sasang constitutional medicine, Five element properties and biorhythm by human sensibility ergonomics, and will apply the result of this study - the analyses of the difference among reaction time by using ANOVA after measuring the reaction time depending on one's individual temperament and condition- to job design.

Acne vulgaris is a common chronic skin disorder that affects millions of people. The pathogenesis of acne has been known to be closely associated with the bacterium Propionibacterium acnes. Here we investigated the anti-acne activity of Lactobacillus plantarum K-1 BR by observing the expressions of proinflammatory cytokines, TNF-α, IFN-γ and IL-8, of human keratinocytes. When we applied heat-killed P. acnes to HaCaT cells, the inflammatory cytokines were induced by two- to four-fold compared to the normal control. When the bacteriocin, purified from L. plantarum K-1 BR, was pretreated to the HaCaT cells, the expression levels of TNF-α and IFN-γ stimulated by P. acnes significantly decreased to 25% and 30% of the induced levels, respectively. The IL-8 levels also significantly decreased with the concentration dependent manner of the bacteriocin. These results suggest that the bacteriocin from L. plantarum K-1 BR could reduce the expression levels of inflammatory cytokines and thus may relieve inflammations caused by acne.

This study was investigated to observe morphological changes of two pre-astronauts' hair, male and female by electron microscopy and to analyze its tensile strength by using rheometer. The surface of those two pre-astronauts' hair, which were very rough and irregular, contained separated scales and destroyed remnants of cuticular cells. Also, there were many holes on the cytoplasm of the cuticular cells which forms the cuticle layer. The destruction begins when the endocuticle where the holes form gets destroyed. And then, The tensile strength of female pre-astronaut's hair was 14.60 mm which is 10% reduced, compared to that of the normal healthy hair. Thus, this result thought to be due to the prolonged change of the biorhythm and psychological instability of the pre-astronauts.

Even in case of new materials, materials that are not only harmless for the current global environment but also have high-performance and high-function are sought-after in consideration of the global environmental problems. Moreover, in construction areas where a large amount of cement and concrete are used, the establishment of the recycling technology or transformation into resources and energy materials are being put in place. And also, in a situation where the slow and relaxed city and rural life have a high priority, the need for cement and concrete as environmentally friendly new materials that best suit the emotions in human beings is on the rise and a new way to make good use of cement and concrete as new materials in construction technology should be sought. The recently introduced functional and environmentally friendly concrete is aimed at enhancing health through the adjustments of the body biorhythm using far-infrared. Minerals that contain a great amount of the elements with the frequent occurrence of the infrared among earth minerals and concrete are mixed to use structures or finishing materials, which will tackle the issues of smells, mold and corrosion.

Objectives : There are many causes that may affect efficacy of a drug but the time of administration for the Herbal Medicine is among the most important factors. Traditionally, administration of medicine was prohibited during the meal time along with food and the time of administration has been highly regarded in medical practitioners. The rules of administration time are stated in a book titled, "Materia Medica" but it lacked the details and index. Thus, the systemized administration rules for Herbal Medicine were prepared. Methods : The rules were drawn from both ancient teachings and the experiences from modern clinics. Ancient teachings about the administration are focused on treatment of a disease by utilizing biorhythm of the body in accordance of changes in Yin and Yang and Day and Night. Results : It means the medicine should be prepared and administered at the appropriate time of the day and this type of administration method is thought to be superior to the western method such as "once a day" or "twice a day in the morning and evening" that does not take consideration of cold, hot, warm and cool properties of the medicine. If the prescription is assigning appropriate medicine, administration time is an important method of maximizing drug efficacy. Conclusion : With the ancient teaching in mind, it was concluded that, the drug administration time must be determined with regard to properties of the drug and the condition of the patient.

Based on a literature review regarding shift work, it is recognized that it has an adverse effect on workers' health. Especially, the night shift rather than the day shift imposes severe disorders on workers, which are indicated to dyssomnia, maladaptation to social life, and health problems such as gastroenteric trouble, cardiovascular diseases and depression. As the shift work can be explainable by using workers' labor ability necessarily to maintain company business consistently, it does not consider biorhythm, active mass and health condition of workers Actually duration of shit work would deprive workers of fundamental life rights by causing physical and mental effects. As a result of reviewing previous case studies related to effect of work pattern (day shift and night shift) on workers' health, an incidence of physical diseases like dyssomnia, gastroenteric trouble, cardiovascular diseases and premature delivery was higher in shift workers than normal workers. Additionally the incidence of mental disorders such as busy brain, social isolation, depression and work stress was also higher in shift workers than normal workers. These adverse physical and mental problems were intensified to night shift workers compared to day shift workers. Considering current various reports and study results, it is recommended that the shift work, especially the night work pattern, should not apply to contemporary work situation for sustaining workers' health condition constantly.
