Anaerobic digestion (AD) is the most promising method of treating and recycling of different organic wastes, such as OFMSW, household wastes, animal manure, agro-industrial wastes, industrial organic wastes and sewage sludge. During AD, i.e. degradation in the absence of oxygen, organic material is decomposed by anaerobes forming degestates such as an excellent fertilizer and biogas, a mixture of carbon dioxide and methane. AD has been one of the leading technologies that can make a large contribution to producing renewable energy and to reducing $CO_2$ and other GHG emission, it is becoming a key method for both waste treatment and recovery of a renewable fuel and other valuable co-products. A classification of the basic AD technologies for the production of biogas can be made according to the dry matter of biowaste and digestion temperature, which divide the AD process in wet and dry, mesophilic and thermophilic. The biogas produced from AD plant can be utilized as an alternative energy source, for lighting and cooking in case of small-scale, for CHP and vehicle fuel or fuel in industrials in case of large-scale. This paper provides an overview of the status of biogas production and utilization technologies.
We are to evaluate the stabilization technology of actual biogas plant facilities, which is operating currently. It describes the traits of the consistent facilities of mesophilic anaerobic digestion using Unison Biogas plant Recovery system(UBR). Also the economical efficiency is examined with the electric power sales earnings and applying the deserted heating by generating electric power, which is generated by operated combined heat and power using biogas produced by mesophilic anaerobic digestion. We have generated the 481,113kw for electric power and 1,376Gcal for thermal energy simultaneously. If these electric power and thermal energy are converted into diesel, we can achieve savings equal to 114,300L, and 152,109L in the quantity of heat. Finally, if CDM, RPS, liquid fertilizer sales business, etc. is activated, the earnings will be expected to improve dramatically and is considered to contribute a drop of the greenhouse gas.
Hydrogen production from biogas has received consistent attention due to the great potential to solve simultaneously the issues of energy demands and environmental problems. Practically, biomethane produced by purification/upgrading of biogas can be a good alternative to the natural gas which is a main reactant for a steam methane reforming process. Judging from the economic and environmental impacts, however, the steam biogas and dry reforming are considered to be more effective routes for hydrogen production because both processes do not require the carbon dioxide elimination step. Herein, we highlight recent studies of hydrogen production via reforming processes using biogas and effective applications for earlier commercialization.

It is valuable research area regarding to developing manufacturing process of biogas from organic wastes take a side view of alternative for fossil energy and to improve the environmental atmosphere leads to decrease the greenhouse gas be discharged. The regulation which is prepared by environmental department shows that biogas as a transportation fuel is required to purity of above 95%, while it of natural gas is above 88%. However, in this situation it is necessary to prepare the regulation which is distributed by department of transportation as for the fuel be connected to vehicles as well in order to take step forward, and it is suggest to develop the technics of biogas this country's own original one, not be the technics imported from foreign countries, and also to turn to higher practical use of biogas for transportation area, since it shows far much less ratio have compared to other application areas.

New type of syngas generator based on the partial oxidation of biogas in volumetric permeable matrix reformers was suggested as an effective, adaptable and relatively simple way of syngas and hydrogen production for various low-scale applications. The use of biogas as an energy source reduces the chance of possible emission of two greenhouse gases, $CH_4$ and $CO_2$, into the atmosphere at the same time. Its nature of being a reproducible energy source makes its use even more attractive. Parametric screening studies were achieved as air ratio, biogas component ratio, input gas temperature, Steam/Carbon ratio. As the air ratio was low, the production of the hydrogen and carbon monoxide increased in the condition that 3D matrix reformer maintains the stable driving. As it was the simulation biogas in which the carbon dioxide content is high, the flammable range became narrow. And the flammable range was extended if the injected gas was preheated. The stable driving was possible in the low air ratio. The amount of hydrogen production was increased as S/C ratio increased.

Korea is natural gas importer which imports a lot quantities which 20% of the volume of US exports in 2018. Biogas which can satisfy gas demand and respond effectively to climate change, will be an alternative. However, only 20% of biogas production is sold, which is also not efficient and difficult to use. The purpose of this study develops an optimal purification system for supplying biogas as city gas. We develope an optimal system by analyzing biogas for system selection, finding cases for system design, developing scenario, and developing a cost - benefit tool.
Methane is one of the important greenhouse gases and methane is the major component of the biogas. A multiple stage membrane process was developed and analysed with the numerical analysis so that the mole fraction of methane in the final product could be kept higher than 0.95 and simultaneously the recovery of methane was also maintained higher than 99% from the biogas using 3 polysulfone hollow fiber membrane modules which were properly connected. As the feed pressure of the biogas, the mole fraction of methane in the biogas and the membrane area in the membrane module are increased, the methane mole fraction of the final product are found to be increased. However, a proper membrane area in the module should be carefully selected in order to achieve the satisfactory goal of 0.95 mole fraction of methane and 99% recovery of methane from the biogas. Even if the multiple membrane process is utilized with the properly selected membrane modules, the limited operating ranges have to be applied in the following parameters : the feed pressure, the flow rate, the mole fraction of methane in the biogas to get both the target methane concentration and the recovery rate of methane.

To verify the possibility of a power generation system using biogas from the waste of pig farm for rural electric production, a SI gasoline engine is modified to use biogas fuel and was installed in a 20 KVA power generation system. An electronic speed regulation unit is developed to keep the system speed at 1500 rpm. Experimental investigations have been carried out to examine the performance characteristics of power generation system (such as: system frequency, phase output voltage,$\ldots$). In addition, the operating parameters and output emissions ($NO_x$, HC, and $CO_2$) of biogas-fueled engine are preliminary evaluated and analyzed for the change of system load. Results indicated that the researched power generation system shows a high stability of output voltage and frequency with help of speed regulator. Biogas fuel (mainly $CH_4$ and $CO_2$) has an environmental impact and potential as a green alternative fuel for SI engine and they would not require significant modification of existing engine hardware. Output emissions of biogas-fueled engine are found to be relative low. $NO_x$ emission increases with the increase of output electric power of the power generation system.

Benzalkonium chloride is most widely used in S. Korea as a disinfectant in livestock husbandry. Inhibition of biogas potentials were investigated with three different doses of benzalkonium chloride in swine slurry. The system was operated at batch mode. The inhibition rates were 10%, 30~40% and >70% at the dose of 10ppm, 40ppm and 80ppm, respectively assuming it was zero percent in case of no dose. Enzymatic activities were analyzed to determine the enzymatic type which was inhibited by benzalkonium chloride. The acid phosphatase, alkaline phosphatase and protease were shown negatively correlated with biogas potential. Correlation of ${\alpha}$-glucosidase and biogas potentials was observed not high (p<0.01, r=-0.426) while benzalkonium chloride (r=-0.853, p<0.01) and acid phosphatase (p<0.01) with biogas potentials were significantly and negatively correlated. The effect of benzalkonium chloride on Escherichia coli were also evaluated by disc diffusion method. As increase of benzalkonium concentration, inhibition zone of anaerobic bacteria was extended. It revealed that benzalkonium chloride significantly deteriorated biogas potential through inhibition of acetogenic bacteria.
