A defective HIV-1 helper virus DNA, pHyPC, was assembled by deleting the RNA packaging signal, env, nef and the 3'LTR sequences. HIV-1 like virus particles that carry the HIV-1 receptor, CD4 were generated by co expression of pHyPC and plasmid DNAs encoding different chimeric CD4 proteins. The CD4 particles, sharing the CD4 ectodomain, precisely fused to different membrane anchors. CD4(+) particles specifically bound to HIV-1 Env expressing cells, but any signs of infection into these cells were not detected. Binding was only partially blocked by either polyclonal anti-CD4 antibodies or by high concentrations of soluble CD4. Surprisingly, CD4(+) particles also adsorbed to HeLa, CHO, NIH3T3 and COS-7 cells in the absence of HIV-1 Env expression. Adsorption was comparable in strength and speed to the highly specific CD4-Env interaction. CD4(-) particles exhibited only background levels of binding. Cell binding was CD4. dependent, but it was independent of the cell type from which the CD4(+) particles originated. Interestingly, CD4-dependent/Env-independent binding was only found when CD4 was present on virus particles. This suggests that the micro-environment of CD4 on virus particles uniquely expose this new cell binding activity. Its high affinity could explain in part why infection of Env(+) cells by CD4(+) particles was not detected. Further experiments will be required to evaluate whether this strong membrane interaction could represent one step in the multiple-step viral entry process.

The study carried out the experiment with presenting as the fundamental data for developing non-cement by using red mud generated in blast furnace slag and bauxite generated in the process of manufacturing the pig iron process of manufacturing Al(OH)3/Al2O from as the binding material using the accelerator of NaOH. After fixing the thing and the NaOH adding the blast furnace slag and NaOH 10, 20, 30 (%) with 10, 20, 30 (%) substituted the red mud in the blast furnace slag and the experimental method carried out the experiment. And it measured the flexural strength and compressive strength and took a photograph EDS analysis and SEM. Consequently, the compressive strength was improved as the addition rate of the NaOH was high and the compressive strength according to the replacement ratio of the red mud was degraded. This is determined that film of the blast furnace slag is destroyed and it makes the hydration reaction condition and the intensity is revealed.

The 'Dielectrophoretic Tweezers(DEP Tweezers)' can be used as a facile, economical toolkit for quantitative measurement of chemical and biological binding forces related to many biological interactions within a microfluidic device. Our experimental setup can probe the interaction between a single receptor molecule and its specific ligand. Immunoglobulin G(IgG) functionalized on polystyrene microspheres has been used to detect individual surface linked Staphylococcus protein A(SpA) molecules and to characterize the strength of the noncovalent IgG-SpA bond. It was measured and compared with the existing measurements. Measured single binding force of between Goat, Rabbit IgG and SpA were $17{\pm}7pN$, $74{\pm}16pN$. This work can be used to investigate several different ligand-receptor interactions and antigen-antibody interactions.
The geometrical structures of pyridazin-3-one derivatives (4,5-dihalopyridazin-3-one and 4-halo-5- alkoxypyridazin-3-one) with various functional and substituent groups were fully optimized using the ab initio Hartree-Fock (HF) and second order Moller-Plesset perturbation (MP2) methods. At the N2-, C4-, and C5- positions on the pyridazin-3-one rings, the structural and electronic features pertaining to the variations of the functional and substituent groups were analyzed, respectively. The trends in the variation of the bond lengths, atomic charges, and energetics (relative energy, binding energy) of the derivatives induced by changing the electron donating functional groups (X1 = OMe, OEt) to electron withdrawing groups (X1 = Cl, NO2) were examined. The variations of the bond lengths, atomic charges, and binding energies with the electron withdrawing strength of the substituent groups (Y = Me → F) were also investigated.

In this study, hardened loess bodies, which did not compose of cement or any chemical binder, were made and tested to evaluate the physical properties such as slump, air content, and compressive strength. Addition of a natural binding material to mixture of loess and lime showed better performance in physical properties. However a lime among natural binding materials is considered as a superior binder to improve the properties of the hardened bodies. According to the experimental results, mixing proportion with 45% of W/B ratio, $285kg/m^3$ of water content, and 60% lime substitution ratio was recommended to acquire the good performance of physical properties for the hardened loess bodies.
The adsorption kinetics of ${\beta}$-casein on a hydrophobic surface has been studied by means of the quartz crystal microbalance (QCM). The self assembled monolayer of 1-octadecanethiol on a gold coated quartz crystal was used as a hydrophobic surface for adsorption. The adsorption kinetics was monitored in different solution conditions. Formation of monolayer is observed in most cases. At high concentration of protein, micelle formation which is interrupted by high ionic strength of solution is observed. Casein binding cations such as $Ca^{2+},\;Ba^{2+}\;and\;Al^{3+}$ increase the hydrophobicity of the protein and the multiple layer adsorption occurs. The strong and weak points of the QCM method in the study of protein adsorption are discussed.

Polymer mortars are mainly used as protective coatings in concrete, reinforced concrete, and more rarely, steel, while polymer concretes represent a new type of structural material capable of withstanding highly corrosive environments. The mechanical properties, chemical stability, and some other useful properties are the reasons research, design, and production organizations. However polymer mortars and polymer concretes have been introduced only recently, and many of their properties are still imperfectly known. And, the main technique in producing polymer concrete is to minimize void volume in the aggregate mass so as to reduce the quantity of the relatively impressive polymer necessary for binding the aggregate. In this study, compressive strength and flexural strength of unsaturated polyester resin concrete are related to quantity of resin and solid volume of aggregate. It was founded that the more solid volume of aggregate increase, the less using quantity of resin decrease with out reducing mechnical properties. When solid volume ratio of aggregate is 70.6%, using quantity of resin is minimized to 10wt.%.
Basic properties of new cement pastes based on the system $CaO-Al_2O_3-P_O_5-H_2O$were studied Phosphoric acid solutions and calcium dialuminate clinkers synthesized by the hydration-burning method were used for liquid and powder components of the paste, respectively Variation in the compositions of the paste was achieved by changing the liquid/powder ratio and the concentration of phosphoric acid solution. The hardening rate of the paste was so largely affected by the amount of phosphoric acid that hardening was inhibited with the low-concentrated solution but was explosively accelerated with the high-concentrated solution. The phosphoric acid solutions of concentration of 45~50% and the liquid/powder ratio of 0.5~1.5 were favoured for the high early-strength cement paste with the reasonable hardening rate and high strength. The binding phase of hardened paste was the dense amorphous gel of the system $CaO-Al_2O_3-P_O_5-H_2O$. in which the unreacted calcium dialuminate grains were embeded.

Background: Binding of adhesive proteins (i.e., fibrinogen, fibronectin, vitronectin) to platelet integrin glycoprotein IIb/IIIa (${\alpha}IIb/{\beta}3$) by various agonists (thrombin, collagen, adenosine diphosphate) involve in strength of thrombus. This study was carried out to evaluate the antiplatelet effect of total saponin from Korean Red Ginseng (KRG-TS) by investigating whether KRG-TS inhibits thrombin-induced binding of fibrinogen and fibronectin to ${\alpha}IIb/{\beta}3$. Methods: We investigated the effect of KRG-TS on phosphorylation of vasodilator-stimulated phosphoprotein (VASP) and dephosphorylation of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) and Akt, affecting binding of fibrinogen and fibronectin to ${\alpha}IIb/{\beta}3$, and clot retraction. Results: KRG-TS had an antiplatelet effect by inhibiting the binding of fibrinogen and fibronectin to ${\alpha}IIb/{\beta}3$ via phosphorylation of VASP ($Ser^{157}$), and dephosphorylation of PI3K and Akt on thrombin-induced platelet aggregation. Moreover, A-kinase inhibitor Rp-8-Br-cyclic adenosine monophosphates (cAMPs) reduced KRG-TS-increased VASP ($Ser^{157}$) phosphorylation, and increased KRG-TS-inhibited fibrinogen-, and fibronectin-binding to ${\alpha}IIb/{\beta}3$. These findings indicate that KRG-TS interferes with the binding of fibrinogen and fibronectin to ${\alpha}IIb/{\beta}3$ via cAMP-dependent phosphorylation of VASP ($Ser^{157}$). In addition, KRG-TS decreased the rate of clot retraction, reflecting inhibition of ${\alpha}IIb/{\beta}3$ activation. In this study, we clarified ginsenoside Ro (G-Ro) in KRG-TS inhibited thrombin-induced platelet aggregation via both inhibition of $[Ca^{2+}]_i$ mobilization and increase of cAMP production. Conclusion: These results strongly indicate that KRG-TS is a beneficial herbal substance inhibiting fibrinogen-, and fibronectin-binding to ${\alpha}IIb/{\beta}3$, and clot retraction, and may prevent platelet ${\alpha}IIb/{\beta}3$-mediated thrombotic disease. In addition, we demonstrate that G-Ro is a novel compound with antiplatelet characteristics of KRG-TS.
Polysaccharides have attracted great attention for their wide range of applications in biological and medical fields. In this paper, the interaction of polysaccharides with human serum albumin (HSA) was systematically investigated by fluorescence (FL) spectroscopy and circular dichroism (CD) spectra under different conditions. The Stern-Volmer quenching constants ($K_a$) at different ionic strength and pH were calculated, and information of the structural features of HSA was discussed. FL and CD results indicate that both hydrophobic and electrostatic interactions play important roles during the binding process. The quenching of the fluorescence resulting the binding of polysaccharides and HSA is static.
