The purpose of the present paper is to study certain radii problems for the function $$f(z)=\[{\frac{z^{1-{\gamma}}}{{\gamma}+{\beta}}}\(z^{\gamma}[D^nF(z)]^{\beta}\)^{\prime}\]^{1/{\beta}}$$, where ${\beta}$ is a positive real number, ${\gamma}$ is a complex number such that ${\gamma}+{\beta}{\neq}0$ and the function F(z) varies various subclasses of analytic functions with fixed second coefficients. Relevant connections of the results presented herewith various well-known results are briefly indicated.
The present study was conducted to assess the relationship between metabolic syndrome, metabolic syndrome score, homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), and beta-cell function (HOMA-B) in obese Korean adults. The study included 1,860 adults aged 20 years or older from the 2010 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) data. Metabolic syndrome and metabolic syndrome score (MSS) were positively associated with HOMA-IR (both P<0.001). HOMA-B levels of elevated blood pressure (P<0.001) and elevated fasting blood glucose group (P<0.001) were significantly lower than the normal group. However, the HOMA-B levels of abdominal obesity (P=0.003) and reduced high-density lipoprotein cholesterol group (P=0.030) were significantly higher than the normal group. Nevertheless, metabolic syndrome (P<0.001) and MSS (P<0.001) were inversely associated with the HOMA-B levels. In conclusion, metabolic syndrome and MSS were positively associated with insulin resistance and inversely associated with beta-cell function in Korean adults with obesity.

This study examined the effect of fermented ginseng (FG) on memory impairment and ${\beta}$-amyloid ($A{\beta}$) reduction in models of Alzheimer's disease (AD) in vitro and in vivo. FG extract was prepared by steaming and fermenting ginseng. In vitro assessment measured soluble $A{\beta}42$ levels in HeLa cells, which stably express the Swedish mutant form of amyloid precursor protein. After 8 h incubation with the FG extract, the level of soluble $A{\beta}42$ was reduced. For behavioral assessments, the passive avoidance test was used for the scopolamine-injected ICR mouse model, and the Morris water maze was used for a transgenic (TG) mouse model, which exhibits impaired memory function and increased $A{\beta}42$ level in the brain. FG extract was treated for 2 wk or 4 mo on ICR and TG mice, respectively. FG extract treatment resulted in a significant recovery of memory function in both animal models. Brain soluble $A{\beta}42$ levels measured from the cerebral cortex of TG mice were significantly reduced by the FG extract treatment. These findings suggest that FG extract can protect the brain from increased levels of $A{\beta}42$ protein, which results in enhanced behavioral memory function, thus, suggesting that FG extract may be an effective preventive or treatment for AD.

Platelets from a patient with a mild inherited bleeding disorder and abnormal platelet aggregation and secretion show reduced generation of inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP$_3$), mobilization of intracellular Ca$\^$2+/, and phosphorylation of pleckstrin in response to several G protein mediated agonists, suggesting a possible defect at the level of phospholipase C (PLC) activation. A procedure was developed that allows quantitation of platelet PLC isozymes. After fractionation of platelet extracts by high-performance liquid chromatography, seven, out often known PLC isoforms were detected by immunoblot analysis. The amount of these isoforms in normal platelets decreased in the order PLC-${\gamma}$2 > PLC-${\beta}$2 > PLC-${\beta}$3 > PLC-${\beta}$l > PLC-${\gamma}$ > PLC-$\delta$1 > PLC-${\beta}$4. Compared with normal platelets, platelets from the patient contained approximately one-third the amount of PLC-${\beta}$2, whereas PLC-${\beta}$4 was increased threefold. These results suggest that the impaired platelet function in the patient in response to multiple G protein mediated agonists is attributable to a deficiency of PLC-${\beta}$2. They document for the first time a specific PLC isozyme deficiency in human platelets and provide an unique opportunity to understand the role of different PLC isozymes in normal platelet function.
Neurodegeneration can result in memory loss in the central nervous system (CNS) and impairment of taste and smell in the peripheral nervous system (PNS). The neurodegeneration seen in Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by functional loss of dopaminergic neurons. Recent studies have also found a role for dopaminergic neurons in regulating taste memory rewards in insects. To investigate how taste memories and sugar sensitivity can be affected in PD, we utilized the $DJ-1{\beta}$ mutant fruit fly, $DJ-1{\beta}^{ex54}$, as a PD model. We performed binary choice feeding assays, electrophysiology and taste-mediated memory tests to explore the function of the $DJ-1{\beta}$ gene in terms of sugar sensitivity as well as associative taste memory. We found that PD flies exhibited an impaired ability to discriminate sucrose across a range of sugar concentrations, with normal responses at only very high concentrations of sugar. They also showed an impairment in associative taste memory. We highlight that the taste impairment and memory defect in $DJ-1{\beta}^{ex54}$ can be recovered by the expression of wild-type $DJ-1{\beta}$ gene in the dopaminergic neurons. We also emphasized the role of dopaminergic neurons in restoring taste memory function. This impaired memory property of $DJ-1{\beta}^{ex54}$ flies also allows them to be used as a model system for finding supplementary dietary foods that can improve memory function. Here we provide evidence that the associative taste memory of both control and $DJ-1{\beta}^{ex54}$ flies can be enhanced with dietary supplementation of the medicinal plant, omija.

This paper deals with the performance comparison of a PSO algorithm inspired in the process of simulating the behavior pattern of the organisms. The PSO algorithm finds the optimal solution (fitness value) of the objective function based on a stochastic process. Generally, the stochastic process, a random function, is used with the expression related to the velocity included in the PSO algorithm. In this case, the random function of the normal distribution (Gaussian) or uniform distribution are mainly used as the random function in a PSO algorithm. However, in this paper, because the probability distribution which is various with 2 shape parameters can be expressed, the performance comparison of a PSO algorithm using the beta probability distribution function, that is a random function which has a high degree of freedom, is introduced. For performance comparison, 3 functions (Rastrigin, Rosenbrock, Schwefel) were selected among the benchmark Set. And the convergence property was compared and analyzed using PSO-FIW to find the optimal solution.

We proposed a tail function parameter extraction procedure for the establishment of a robust ion implantation database. We showed that, for the expression of ion implantation profiles, there are many local minimum values set for the third and fourth moment parameters of $\gamma$ and $\beta$ for the Pearson function that comprises the standard dual Pearson and tail functions. We proposed the use of a joined tail function as a mediate function to extract $\gamma$ and $\beta$, and demonstrated that this enables us to extract the parameters uniquely. Other parameters associated with channeling phenomena can also be simply and uniquely extracted by our procedure.

This paper investigates an extended form Hurwitz-Lerch zeta function, as well as related integral images, ordinary and fractional derivatives, and series expansions, using the term extended beta function. We establish a connection between the extended Hurwitz-Lerch zeta function and the Laguerre polynomials. Furthermore, we present a probability distribution application of the extended Hurwitz-Lerch zeta function ζ𝛿,𝜇𝜈,λ. Several results, both known and new, are shown to follow as special cases of our findings.
In this present work, the authors obtain Fekete-Szeg$\ddot{o}$ inequality for certain normalized analytic function $f(z)$ defined on the open unit disk for which $$\frac{{\lambda}{\beta}z^3(L(a,c)f(z))^{{\prime}{\prime}{\prime}}+(2{\lambda}{\beta}+{\lambda}-{\beta})z^2(L(a,c)f(z))^{{\prime}{\prime}}+z(L(a,c)f(z))^{{\prime}}}{{\lambda}{\beta}z^2(L(a,c)f(z))^{{\prime}{\prime}}+({\lambda}-{\beta})z(L(a,c)f(z))^{\prime}+(1-{\lambda}+{\beta})(L(a,c)f(z))}\;(0{\leq}{\beta}{\leq}{\lambda}{\leq}1)$$ lies in a region starlike with respect to 1 and is symmetric with respect to the real axis. Also certain applications of the main result for a class of functions defined by Hadamard product (or convolution) are given. As a special case of this result, Fekete-Szeg$\ddot{o}$ inequality for a class of functions defined through fractional derivatives are obtained.

A temperature-based Beta function model was developed for corn hybrids (Zea mays L.). The beta function based on the hourly temperature was fitted to the phenology data (silking date) obtained for six years from 2008 through 2013 at four survey sites. Using the Beta function model, silking dates for two corn hybrids with the different ecotype ('Danok3', 'Ilmichal') were estimated over two years from 2014 through 2015 at four sites, and then the performance of the model was evaluated based on the data for the same period. The silking dates estimated by the model were predicted earlier than those observed at survey sites. Still, the correlation between estimates and observation was relatively high (r=0.859). The accuracy of the model differed by the survey site and the year, which was likely due to the considerably large standard deviation of the parameter calibrated in this study.
