Best practices are the best ways to perform a business process. Benchmarking, the search for those best practices that will lead to superior performance of a company, is indispensible to gain and maintain a competitive edge. Best practices of quality management in the world-class companies are examined. Customer-centered strategy, employee selection and training, employee satisfaction, customer satisfaction, performance measurement are considered in this paper.

The 21st century is called “an era of creation” or “an era of speed.” These are flat expressions requiring a fierce competition between individuals, corporations and nations. In a reality in which we should make new things continuously within a short period of time, the world best benchmarking can become a good alternative. The world best practice can be called “a mode of operation” that has created the world's best performance in a particular field of managerial activities. It is very meaningful for the nations' corporations, which have a lower competitiveness than world-class ones and weak points in the area of human resources development, in particular, to benchmark the world-class corporations' best practices of HRD. Therefore, this study is conducted in conformity with a model of the Instructional Systems Designs for the Total Quality Education that brings the structure of the world-class corporations' best practices of HRD into line with that of the Total Quality Management. That is, analysis, design, development, implementation and assessment are included in this study.

The propose of this study was to investigate the management characteristics of assisted living facility(ALF) as an housing alternative for semi-dependent elderly. For this purpose, 5 ALFs which have been well known as best practices in rural Virginia were selected for a multi- site case study. Face-to-face interview with administrators or assistant administrators of i facilities were done. In addition to this, written materials about the each facility and personal record from researcher were used to analyze the data. Six management categories including 82 open-ended questions were analyzed and successful examples and management difficulties were identified from best practices. Based on the results, some recommendations for development of ALFs in Korean elderly were suggested. In short, this study found that best practices which were selected and analyzed in this study showed that successful management was resulted from continuous efforts of the stalls to provide better services in order for improving the quality of life of their residents.

Furthermore, many construction projects are suffering from tighter budget, shortened schedule and higher client satisfaction level. To overcome these, project managers and engineers are willing to apply various best management practices to their projects. However, it is non-trivial to select the most appropriate practices for their projects. In many cases, it is much more important to find the appropriateness of the management practices than just to use the practices. Although many researchers are focusing on the development of new management practices, there is little research on matching between the circumstances of projects and the developed management practices. The objective of this study is to provide a structured process to suggest the best management practices for individual construction projects by developing a computerized system where an individual project is matched with the most optimal management practices to increase the value of the project. At this stage of writing, the authors have developed a computerized system to effectively find out the best suitable management practices for individual projects. By maximizing the usages of this system, it would facilitate the application of the best management practices in the industry.

건설 사업은 점차 대형화 되어 가면서 건설사업의 관리의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 국내에서는 1996년에 '건설산업기본법' 제정 시 건설사업관리가 도입되었지만, 제도의 미비 등으로 그다지 활성화되지 못하고 있다 이처럼, CM이 활성화되지 못하는 이유는 기존에 정착한 감리제도와의 마찰 때문이기도 하지만 CM의 성공적인 수행을 위한 체크리스트 의 보급과 성과측정을 통해 CM의 효과를 보급하는 과정이 미흡했기 때문이기도 하다. 국내에서도 CM이 도입된 지 10여년이 지나면서 조금씩 발전해 가고 있지만, 선진국에 비해 성과측정과 평가를 통한 활성화는 부진한 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 프로젝트 차원에서 CM분야와 요소 기술을 고려한 Best Practice 체크리스트를 개발하여 성과측정 시 보다 나은 결과를 도출하기 위한 기초를 마련하고자 한다.

BACKGROUND: Best management practices are often implemented to control nonpoint source pollutants. Best management practices need to be simulated and analyzed for effective Best management practices implementations. Filter strip is one of effective Best management practices in agricultural areas. METHODS AND RESULTS: Soil and Water Assessment Tool model was selected to explore the effectiveness of filter strip to control total phosphorous in Golji watershed. Soil and Water Assessment Tool model was calibrated for flow and total phosphorous by Sequential Uncertainty Fittin ver.2 algorithm provided in Soil and Water Assessment Tool-Calibration and Uncertainty Procedures. Three scenarios defined by filter strip width were applied. The filter strip width of 5 m was able to reduce the most amount of total phosphorous. In other words, the total phosphorous reduction by filter strip of 5 m was 28.0%, while the reduction was 17.5% by filter strip of 1 m. However, the reduction per unit filter strip width were 17.4%, 8.0%, and 4.5% for 1 m, 3 m, and 5 m of filter strips, respectively. CONCLUSION: Best management practices need to be simulated and analyzed so that the BMP scenario can be cost-effective. A large size of BMP might be able to control large amount of pollutants, however it would not be indicated as a cost-effective strategy.

Consider a situation that a specific treatment is regarded as the best in comparing several treatments. In this case, a natural procedure to decide the best treatment is to choose the specific one which is proved to be better than each one of the others. This study proposes a method for detecting the best by comparing two treatments from the above point of view. Since this method deals with comparing only two treatments, it is very simple to use and expected to be widely applicable.

Regarding all methods of decision making as parts of the same subject, one is astounded to find that the field speaks to the practitioners about multicriteria decision making with a multi-forked tongue, different methods give different and conflicting outcomes even for very simple decisions. In this paper, five well-known decision theories are described and used to work out a simple decision to choose the best of three cars. The outcomes turn out not to be the same for all the methods, which is troubling because one would expect unique answers in decision making. Several "meta" criteria that are essential for making a decision theory to make a choice as to which decision approach is best.h is best.

Over the last decade, the field of supply chain management (SCM) and e-business has received an enormous amount of attention from practitioners and academicians. However, little has been known about how and to what extent small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are implementing SCM initiatives and e-business practices. This paper proposes a comprehensive research model and presents the survey results of these practices of SMEs located in Wisconsin and illinois, U.S., In terms of competitive strategy and priority, value chain activity priority, supply chain and e-business integration focus, SCM best practices implementation focus and challenges, and business performance. The analysis reveals several valuable insights into how SMEs should run their businesses in today's volatile, rapidly changing customer economy.
