Object : This study was carried out to examine the effect of Hwangryunhaedoktang on the liver and kidney of rats induced by carbon tetrachloride and ethanol. Methods : The histopathological changes were examined after preadministration of 100 and 200mg/100g Hwangryunhaedoktang. Results : The perivenular ballooning degeneration and infiltration of basophilic inflammatory cells were decreased in the experimental group when compared with the control group. No abnormalities were observed in the kidneys of both groups. But, interstitial nephritis was observed only in the experimental group. Conclusion : This study suggests that Hwangryunhaedoktang may be of benefit to the prevention of hepatotoxicity induced by carbon tetrachloride and ethanol, and it is more effective in high dosages.

Nowadays, it has become common to equip a device with Bluetooth. As such devices become pervasive in the world; much work has been done on forming them into a network, however, almost all the Bluetooth Scatternet Formation Algorithms assume devices are homogeneous. Even the exceptional algorithms barely mentioned a little about the different characteristics of devices like computational abilities, traffic loads for special nodes like bridge nodes or super nodes, which are usually the bottleneck in the scatternet. In this paper, we treat the devices differently not only based on the hardware characteristics, but also considering other conditions like different classes, different groups and so on. We use a two-phase Scatternet Formation Algorithm here: in the first phase, construct scatternets for a specified kind of devices; in the second phase, connect these scatternets by using least other kinds of devices as bridge nodes. Finally, we give some applications to show the benefit of classification.

Online game business has emerged as the most lucrative entertainment Industry, with over 10 million players in South Korea. The popularity of online games can be attributed to the availability of broadband network and the presence of numerous PC Bangs and around the country, which have pushed online games Into the main-stream entertainment culture. The age distribution of online game players is expanding and a variety of new games are under development to target certain age groups. While the interactive entertainment market continues to expand, with many new online game publishers entering the market, relatively little is known about which factors influence online game players' behavioral intentions to play continuously in this area. It appears that in this extremely attractive and growing services segment, academics, as well as practitioners, would benefit from in vestigating the relationships among the players' loyalty, interactivity, the sense of presence and the impacts of several other key game-related constructs. Several types of interaction in on-line games and their relationship with the flow construct are investigated, and the resulting conceptual model is proposed. Based on data collected from online questionnaire survey, the validity of the simultaneous equation model has been tested and interesting conclusions have been developed concerning the relationships between the players' loyalty to the sense of presence, flow, satisfaction and interactions. Other interesting results concerning game development strategy are also provided.

The objective of this research was to estimate residents' willingness-to-pay using contingent valuation method and to investigate their environmental sensibilities prior to conduct the costbenefit analysis on the watershed management program of integrated sewerage construction and operation in the catchment of Dam Chung-Ju. A set of questionnaire was prepared and asked to 1,200 residents at downstream area as well as upstream area of Dam Chung-Ju. As a result, environmental sensibility of the residents living in the catchment of upstream of Lake Chung-Ju seemed very high. However, the substantial practice in their own life for conserving their environment was inactive, although residents' efforts trying to collect and dispose garbages in separate containers and to minimize the waste discharge load were actually made. The willingness-to-pay on each month for 20 years was estimated as 4,841 wons for the openended question and 3,411 wons for the close-ended question. Factorial analysis was also performed to obtain correlation among the questions asked. Seven groups of the correlated questions were identified and their contribution to the estimated willingness-to-pay was analyzed.

The study aims to analyze the adaptation strategies and resilience of tobacco farmers to face unfavorable trading system. The research method refers to a qualitative approach with phenomenological models and case studies. The findings revealed tobacco farmers in Jember developed various adaptation strategies and resilience through farmer group organizations, partnerships, self-capacity building and access to financial institutions based on economic, social, cultural, and experience values from various sources and interactions among fellow tobacco farmers. The tobacco trading system, which is left to the market mechanism, results in low bargaining power of farmers, this encourages tobacco farmers to develop various adaptation and survival strategies, namely through collective activities of farmer groups, partnerships and self-development and access to financial institutions. Dealing with the unfavorable tobacco trading system, tobacco farmers do not switch to other commodity farming but adapt and make Jember a center for tobacco production in East Java and Indonesia. From this findings, it suggests to the government as the regulator does not only provide subsidies for tobacco farmers, but also must provide various technical assistance to increase the ability of tobacco farmers. More importantly, regulations must be made benefit tobacco farmers other than corporations so that equality can be enjoyed by tobacco economy players.

Objective : Traditionally, standard access to the posterior fossa was a suboccipital craniectomy. After introducing the technique and benefit of posterior fossa craniotomy, several surgeons have used this procedure to manage various pathologies in posterior fossa in children. Though this approach offers several advantages over conventional suboccipital craniectomy, the elevation of bone flap is not easy in adult because of the irregular contour of inner bone surface and tight adhesion of dura to the skull. The aim of this article is to describe the technical aspects of this approach and to delineate the important landmarks for a safe and quick performance in adult. Methods : We report on our series of twenty-five adult patients who underwent craniotomy for posterior fossa pathologies between 2002 and 2005. The maximal follow-up period was 4 years. Results : None of the patients complained of persistent headache and no CSF leaks have occurred postoperatively. We have encountered only two cases of transient subcutaneous CSF retention after craniotomy. Three-dimensional reconstruction of the CT scan confirmed the well-fitted suboccipital bone contour after craniotomy. And patients were satisfied with the cosmetic results. Conclusion : This method is safer and simpler. It restores normal anatomical planes and improves protection of the contents of the posterior fossa. The authors recommend craniotomy as an alternative method of access to the posterior fossa in all age groups.

This paper aims to provide an overview of customer trust toward Islamic banks, and to study the effect of trust on the selection of Islamic banks services. A total 375 questionnaires were distributed to the three groups of bank customers, i.e. Islamic banks customers, conventional banks customers, and customers of both banks (125 respondents in each group). Trust is measured based on three constructs, namely Ability, Integrity, and Benevolence. To test the hypothesis this study employs Analysis of Variance and Tukey Test. The results show that bank customers have degree of trust towards Islamic banks relatively high enough, although among the respondents had never become customers of Islamic banks. Benevolence as the dimension with the lowest average score revealed the Islamic banks are more believed as a competent and honest bank in carrying out the business than the bank that will work for the benefit of customers. Other findings suggest that degree of trust have significant affects on the decision for using the Islamic banks services. The positive values that embedded in the concepts and systems of the Islamic is the key to improving the competitiveness of Islamic banks.

Effect of ischemic preconditioning on left ventricular function after cardiac arrest in isolated rat heart.Ischemic preconditioning reduces infarct size caused by sustained ischemia. However, the effects of preconditioning on post ischemic cardiac function are not well-known. The objective of the present study was to determine whether preconditioning would improve the recovery of left ventricular functions after cardiac arrest in isolated rat heart model.Isolated rat hearts were allowed to equilibrate for 20 minutes and were then subjected to either 5 minutes of global, normothermic transient ischemia [Group 2 and 4] or not [Group 3]. A stabilization period of perfusion lasting 5 minutes after the termination of transient ischemia was followed by a standard global, normothermic 20 minute-ischemia and 35-minute reperfusion challenge [Group 3 and 4]. These following results were odtained.1. The recovery of left ventricular developed pressures showed no significant differences between Group 3 and Group 4 at 50 [P>0.3] and 85 minute [P>0.2].2. Heart rates showed no significant differences throughout all the course of experiment and between groups [P>0.5].3. The recovery of left ventricular maximum dP/dt showed no significant differences between Group 3 and Group 4 at 50 [P>0.1] and 85 minute [P>0.2].4. The recovery of pressure-rate products showed no significant differences between Group3 and Group 4 at 50 [P>0.5] and 85 minute [P>0.1].These results suggest that ischemic preconditioning does not provide significant benefit for the postischemic left ventricular functions in isolated rat hearts.

The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between lifestyles and clothing benefits pursuit. A questionnaire was developed to measure lifestyle and clothing benefits sought. The questionnaire was distributed and collected from 131 college female students in Tokyo. The data was analyzed by percentage, frequency, mean, standard deviation, factor analysis, reliability test, MANOVA and ANOVA by SPSS package. The lifestyles of the respondents were classified into five types such as recreational-oriented, fashion-oriented, progressive-oriented, intentional purchasing, and economics-oriented type. And clothing benefits pursuit was classified into five types such as individuality-pursuit, brand-pursuit, convenience-pursuit, fashion -pursuit, and coordination/figure flaws compensation-pursuit. The result of this study were as follows; 1) All of three lifestyle groups of appearance-oriented type, fashion-oriented type, intentional purchasing type had an inclination for individuality-pursuit, brand-pursuit, fashion-pursuit, and not an inclination for convenience-pursuit. 2) The higher the fashion-oriented and intentional purchasing, and the lower the progressive-oriented and economics-oriented were, the higher was individuality-pursuit. 3) The higher progressive-oriented and the lower recreational-oriented were, the higher convenience-pursuit was. 4) The brand-pursuit, convenience-pursuit, and fashion-pursuit were not shown to have the significant differences according to intentional purchasing group.
