패턴된 IPMC 작동기의 진동특성 (Vibration Characteristics of Patterned IPMC Actuator)

  • The ionic-polymer-metal-composite actuators have the best merit for bio-mimetic locomotion because of their large bending performance. Especially, they have the advantage for mimicking a fish-like motion because IPMCs are useful to be actuated in water. So we have developed IPMC actuators with multiple electrodes for realization of biomimetic motion. This actuator is fabricated by combining electroless plating and electroplating techniques capable of patterning precisely and controlling a thickness of Pt electrode layer. The FRF analysis was conducted by a mechanical shaker and direct electrical excitation which is based on sweep sine wave function. From this result, the proper young‘s modulus of Platinum was investigated and applied on expecting the vibration characteristics of patterned IPMC actuator. The calculated maximum displacement of the patterned IPMC was 2.32mm under an applied 4mN/mm. The natural frequency was increased however displacement was decreased in according to increase a thickness of Pt.

  • In this study, multilayer structured ultrasonic linear motor was simulated using Atila for investigating its optimum driving conditions. The ultrasonic linear motors mainly consist of an ultrasonic vibrator to generate elliptical displacement. The ultrasonic linear motor simulated in this paper was the use of the 1st longitudinal(Ll) and 4th bending vibrations (B4). Whit the increase of the number of piezoelectric actuator layers, displacement of node was increased. Maximum total displacement of node was about $3,91{\mu}m$ at the 13 layered ultrasonic motor under 5 V.

탄소나노튜브 액츄에이터의 이론적 모델링 (Analytical Modeling of Carbon Nanotube Actuators)

  • Carbon nanotubes have outstanding properties which make them useful for a number of high-technology applications. Especially, single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT), working under physical conditions (in aqueous solution) and converting electrical energy into mechanical energy directly, can be a good substitute for artificial muscle. The carbon nanotube structure simulated in this paper is an isotropic cantilever type with an adhesive tape which is sandwiched between two SWNTs. For predicting the geometrical and physical parameters such as deflection, slope, bending moment and induced force with various applied voltages, the analytical model for a 3 layer bimorph nanotube actuator is developed by applying Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. The governing equation and boundary conditions are derived from energy Principles. Also, the brief history of carbon nonotube is overviewed and its properties are compared with other functional materials. Moreover, an electro-mechanical coupling coefficient of the carbon nanotube actuator is discussed to identify the electro-mechanical energy efficiency.

  • A SMA actuator fabricated in this paper generates the large force and it's structure is very simple. The SMA actuator was fabricated by small size with diameter of 4mm and length of 38mm and also it's actuations toward all the directions can be acquired because of three SMA springs which was fabricated with diameter of 1.2mm and 30 turns. We showed into applicability to smart catheter by analyzing accurately the dynamic characteristics such as heading angle, bending angle, force, displacement. For verifying control capacity of the fuzzy controller, we compared Fuzzy controller with PID controller by simulation.

  • This study shows the vibration characteristics of an actuator with six wire-suspensions, used in optical pickups of optical disc drives (ODDs). In this paper, the vibration characteristics of this beam structure is induced mathematically. To obtain vibration modes of focusing direction, the vibration analysis is achieved in lateral and longitudinal directions of the structure. The accuracy of induced vibration characteristics is proved by comparing mode frequencies with a finite element analysis. Finally, it is shown that mode shapes can be modified by changing design parameters in mathematical expressions.

Active Vibration Control of a Cantilever Beam using Electromagnetic Actuators

  • In this paper, an experiment for the active vibration control of a cantilever beam uses electromagnet as an actuator and uses a laser sensor to measure the position of the bending beam, constituting a non-contacting control system. A mathematical model of the overall system is derived to analytically design an appropriate controller. Dynamic equations of the electromagnetic actuator and the beam are combined to find the transfer function from the actuator to the sensor. The effectiveness of the obtained model is verified by various experiments and an improper PID controller is designed based on the obtained model. According to analysis, the coefficient of the derivative controller is the most important parameter for handling the performance and the stability margin of the control system. The experimental results of the active control system are compared with those of the open loop system.

  • In the present study, a new anchor design was proposed to minimize the initial deflection of micro multi-layer cantilever beam with step-up structure, which is a key component of thin film micro-mirror array. It is important to minimize the initial deflection, caused by residual stress, because it reduces the performance of the actuation. Theoretical and experimental studies were conducted to examine the cause of the initial bending deflection. It was found that the bending deflection at the anchor of the cantilever beam was the primary source of initial deflection. Various anchor designs were proposed and the initial deflections for each design were calculated by finite element analysis. The analysis results were compared with experiments. To reduce the initial deflection a secondary support was added to the conventional structure. The optimal shapes were obtained by simulation and experiment. It was found from the analysis that the ratio or horizontal and vertical dimensions of secondary support was the governing factor, which affected the initial deflection.

  • 본 연구에서는 폴리피를 (PPy)/gold/mylar 형태의 두 겹의 전기활성 구동기를 제작하였으며, 도판트의 종류에 따른 굽힘 구동 특성에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 전도성 고분자는 전기적으로 산화/환원이 될 때에는 도판트의 이동에 의하여 부피 변화를 수반하게 된다. 도판트의 크기에 따라, 서로 다른 구동 특성을 나타내었는데, toluene sulfonate와 같은 작은 크기의 도판트는 산화/환원에 따라 PPy 필름의 내외로 자체 이동이 가능하며, 산화시에 PPy의 팽창이 관찰되었다. 그러나, dodecylbenzenesulfonate와 같은 커다란 도판트가 함유된 PPy는 산화/환원시에는 이들의 이온들은 움직임이 없는 것으로 나타났으며 환원시에 작은 양이온($Na^+$)이 필름내부로 유입되며 부피가 증가하는 현상이 관찰되었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 굽힘하중이 가해지는 스마트 복합재 적층판의 자유단에서 발생하는 박리응력을 압전 작동기를 이용해서 감소시키는 방법을 응력함수를 이용해 해석하는 방법을 제안하였다. 전기-기계 연성에 의해 나타나는 지배방정식은 최소 보족일의 원리를 이용해 구하였다. 응력상태는 일반적인 고유치 해석과정을 통해 구하였다. 스마트 복합재 적층판의 자유단 박리응력은 압전 작동기를 이용해 감소시킬 수 있었다. cross-ply 복합재 적층판의 박리응력 감소가 angle-ply 복합재 적층판 보다 크게 나타났다.
