  • The leaky dispersion characteristics of a circular dielectric rod were investigated using Davidenko's method for several lower-order transverse magnetic(TM) modes. The normalized complex propagation constants were precisely determined and their tolerances below $10^{-10}$ compared with zero for both real and imaginary parts. It was also checked whether the normalized complex propagation constants obtained represented forward leaky waves. The leaky modes existing below the cutoff frequency of the guided mode were classified as a nonphysical mode, reactive mode, antenna mode, and spectral gap based on a precise determination of the complex propagation constants. Finally, the effects of the dielectric constant and radius of the dielectric rod on the leaky dispersion characteristics were also considered.

  • We will estimate the lower bound of the first nonzero Neumann and Dirichlet eigenvalue of Laplacian equation on compact Riemannian manifold M with boundary. In case that the boundary of M has positive second fundamental form elements, Ly-Yau[3] gave the lower bound of the first nonzero neumann eigenvalue $\eta_1$. In case that the second fundamental form elements of $\partial$M is bounded below by negative constant, Roger Chen[4] investigated the lower bound of $\eta_1$. In [1], [2], we obtained the lower bound of the first nonzero Neumann eigenvalue is estimated under the condtion that the second fundamental form elements of boundary is bounded below by zero. Moreover, I realize that "the interior rolling $\varepsilon$ - ball condition" is not necessary when the first Dirichlet eigenvalue was estimated in [1].ed in [1].

  • Generally, the concrete constructed during cold weather has the frozen damage which cause the fatal damage so that heat curing and sheet curing was performed to prevent the early freezing of concrete. However, partial refrigeration caused by thermal gradient has many troubles so that the construction hasn`t been done as possible. This paper presents the development of strenth properties and optimal mix design against frozen damage under the cold weather, 1$0^{\circ}C$ below the zero.

  • Air sparging system is a kind of in-situ bioremediation method in the contaminated ground water. When Air sparging, the both of water circulation and oxygen transfer happend in the same time. The hydraulic differential head is zero at the middle height of well, is negative below the height and is possitive above the height. Hydroraulic head gradient is proportioned to air superficial velocity in the well. But over 24m/min of the superficial velocity, the hydraulic head gradient increase little.

  • Let 𝓢 be a Serre class in the category of modules and 𝖆 an ideal of a commutative Noetherian ring R. We study the containment of Tor modules, Koszul homology and local homology in 𝓢 from below. With these results at our disposal, by specializing the Serre class to be Noetherian or zero, a handful of conclusions on Noetherianness and vanishing of the foregoing homology theories are obtained. We also determine when TorR𝓼+t(R/𝖆, X) ≅ TorR𝓼(R/𝖆, H𝖆t(X)).

  • This paper proposes a method for PDR (Pedestrian Dead-Reckoning) using a low cost IMU. Generally, GPS has been widely used for localization of pedestrians. However, GPS is disabled in the indoor environment such as in buildings. To solve this problem, this research suggests the PDR scheme with an IMU attached to the pedestrian's waist. However, despite the fact many methods have been proposed to estimate the pedestrian's position, but their results are not sufficient. One of the most important factors to improve performance is, a new calibration method that has been proposed to obtain the reliable sensor data. In addition to this calibration, the PDR method is also proposed to detect steps, where estimation schemes of step length, attitude, and heading angles are developed. Peak and zero crossings are detected to count the steps from 3-axis acceleration values. For the estimation of step length, a nonlinear step model is adopted to take advantage of using one parameter. Complementary filter and zero angular velocity are utilized to estimate the attitude of the IMU module and to minimize the heading angle drift. To verify the effectiveness of this scheme, a real-time system is implemented and demonstrated. Experimental results show an accuracy of below 1% and below 3% in distance and position errors, respectively, which can be achievable using a high cost IMU.

  • This paper describes the study and test for sand and gravel embankment in winter season and also contribute to the development of construction method for the practical purposes. In order to make possible sand and gravel embankment in winter season, at first, the following eriteria on work are given under the normal weather condition: 1) The maximum diameter of material shall not exceed 30cm and sand content which is the ratio of the weight of sand to gravel shall not exceed 60% 2) Spreading depth shall not exceed 60cm each layer of material shall be compacted by over 6 times passing by thell ton smooth drum type of uibratory roller and the relative density shall exceed 60% In addition to the above conditions, the following criteria are given as winter season condition. 3) Sand contsnt shall not exceed 25%, and water content shall not exceed 4% 4) Dwing construction, the air temperature should be $70^{\circ}C$ below zero at minimum and $3^{\circ}C$ below zero onthe average and all the construction work should he continued without intersuptions. With above criteria, it is come to a conclusion that the conclusion that the construction of sand and gravel embankment in winter season will be done satisfactorily without any difficulty. On the basis of these criteria an actual construction was practiced and it was proved that those criteria are applicable to actual embankment of materials.

  • A capacitive wireless power transfer (C-WPT) system uses an electric field to transmit power through a physical isolation barrier which forms a pair of ac link capacitors between the metal plates. However, the physical dimension and low dielectric constant of the interface medium severely limit the effective link capacitance to a level comparable to the main switch output capacitance of the transmitting circuit, which thus narrows the soft-switching range in the light load condition. Moreover, by fundamental limit analysis, it can be proved that such a low link capacitance increases operating frequency and capacitor voltage stress in the full load condition. In order to handle these problems, this paper investigates optimal design of double matching transformer networks for C-WPT. Using mathematical analysis with fundamental harmonic approximation, a design guideline is presented to avoid unnecessarily high frequency operation, to suppress the voltage stress on the link capacitors, and to achieve wide ZVS range even with low link capacitance. Simulation and hardware implementation are performed on a 5-W prototype system equipped with a 256-pF link capacitance and a 200-pF switch output capacitance. Results show that the proposed scheme ensures zero-voltage-switching from full load to 10% load, and the switching frequency and the link capacitor voltage stress are kept below 250 kHz and 452 V, respectively, in the full load condition.

  • The high efficiency full-bridge LLC resonant converter using a contact-less transformer is proposed for the photovoltaic power generation system. For the series resonance with a series capacitor, the LLC resonant converter utilizes the leakage inductance and magnetizing inductance of a contact-less transformer. Unlike the conventional series resonant converter operated to the continuous resonant current at above resonance frequency, the proposed converter operates to the discontinuous resonant current at the narrow frequency control range below resonance frequency. Due to the discontinuous mode resonant current, the proposed converter can be achieved the zero voltage switching (ZVS) in the primary switches and the zero current switching (ZCS) in the secondary rectification diodes without any auxiliary circuit. In this paper, the experimental results of the proposed full-bridge LLC resonant converter using a contact-less transfonner are verified on the simulation based on the theoretical analysis and the 150W experimental prototype.
